@@paternos5033 No absolutely the other way around :) I told them "nah, I don't need the replacement because I already have one". But they still sent it. So in essence, I paid for one module and ended up with four working boards. Radiomaster has been nothing but amazing every time I've dealt with them.
I pre-ordered this radio as my first radio with ELRS. I'm sure once get more into flying I'll buy something else but this was a cheaper option just to get me started.
this! i dont know why people say ELRS is complicated. flash the latest firmware on receiver and Radio and while you flash set up a bindig phrase. turn the radio on, turn the quad on. boom. connected. done. my 5 y/o daughter could do this
@@Todd_G_FPV No. elrs is just a protocol for transmitting your stick commands (and of course everything else like switch positions or button presses) to the drone. Elrs can also receive telemetry data from your drone like battery voltage and displays these values on your radio. The vtx is a complete different circuit often on another board and can only send the video signal from the camera (mixed with some osd info from the flight controller) to your goggles.
I like these for just the size. Build out a tiny whoop bag with this radio and farshark goggles. Nice and small package unlike my big bag with my full size radio and dji goggles.
thanks for summarizing edge tx so succinctly! It's one of those things that "everyone just knows" but a quick summary is really useful for newbies short on time! ❤
Lol. Not a beginner, but I appreciate having more space in my backpack for other things, and frankly it doesn't matter what EdgeTX radio you have, they all do the same thing and you can adapt to every one of them. I started on a Zorro, and all I ended up wanting was a smaller, less awkwardly shaped radio.
As someone with smaller hands, I can't wait. I love the size and shape of the Flysky i6x, just fits my hands really well. My TX16S, despite being so much better in many ways, (and my decade old Spektrum DX6i has the same issue) is just uncomfortable for me and I really struggle with full reach on the sticks. Just a shame it doesn't seem to have a way to externally toggle the spring on the throttle as I use my radios for all sorts of different models, not just drones/planes.
You can actually. The "L-R" screws on the back under the battery cover (one each side). Turn clockwise to disable self-centering, turn counterclockwise to enable self-centering.
I pre ordered this for a few reasons. Let me set the scene. I've been flying for 4 years. Had a qx7 then a x9d then went to Tango2 for it's small form factor and non breakable switches. Also i didn't want an external module. Since i switched to elrs i was intrigued by the Pocket. Small, no long switches and no ext. mod. Now, i pinch. For the T2 i had to print a longer lanyard hitch to make the radio hang forward. Away from me. That way i don't have to actually hold the thing. It just hangs where i want it and leaves hands free to move. I anticipate that i can do the same with the Pocket. Thanks for this review. On point as usual with zero waffle 👍
Man, I couldn't figure out how to use the qx7 with a radiomaster elrs module so I ended up buying this pocket and hoping for better results when it comes lol
Budget is not an argument. At least now (end oct 23), at least in ES. Here you pay same but in euro + extra for elrs + battaries + shipping + paypal commission... and unexpectedly I have paid 110 eurofor preorder .. Note, I've bought jumper tpro2 at aliexpress for 110dollars including shipping...
Joshua, thank you for this video. You helped me find a radio for my son. This radio seemed perfect for my son who has tiny little hands--he is ten years old and he is not the president now or in the past.
Nice radio, I will stick with my jumper T-Lite V1 with external ELRS, since I love the form factor and I am a thumber. I did break a switch when it fell on concrete, so I ordered spares and since I have to take it appart, nicer gimballs for it, and a lanyard screw, just to personalize it a bit and make it less likely to fall on the floor again.😊
Got my Pocket and love it. I wish to get AG01 gimbals for it. Yes I know its cost almost twice of the radio, but I got Pocket due to its cool form factor. Original gimbals not bad at all, more like i like make it a little premium feel.
Well after 6 months how is it? I just ordered the fcc elrs version with a module that allows me to bind to different receivers. Switching from my eachine branded lite radio 2
@@filipehenry4340 yas it works perfectly, idk how about mhz, cc2500 module attached to it works and my drone fly with really good range, i didnt tried the fcc yeat... I bought fcc so i would be future proof, because if you buy cc2500, and the fcc module, fcc module is very weak compared to one if you buy integrated... So i advice hou to buy controller a fcc and then cc2500 on top of it
Perfect review!! But it's the best cheap radio that came too late for me (i am the guy that was looking for a durable/small, throw-in-your-bag transmitter). I was in for the Zorro, but it was out of stock all the time, lived with my huge TX16S until i decided to get a Jumper T-Lite 2 just a week before the Pocket launched. And i am happy despite the gimbals: the small size is more important for me and im still a sh*t pilot, no matter the gimbals :D
19:51 you said "lower" latency but you meant "higher" as in increased latency at 50hz. Just want to thank you for showing someone who knows nothing about RC and has been wanting to get into it recently a pretty solid choice for my very first radio. Trying to understand everything to the point of me making my own plane has been a hard path and videos like these show casing what new people should be looking into is awesome. The TH-cam RC/FPV community def needs more people getting newer people into the sport as there isn't much documentation out there that dumbs it down for alot of us so its been tens of hours of research.
At 17:21, the reference to 250 mW is an ELRS only assumption (not usable in all global regions). For example, it does not apply to the EU version of the Pocket, nor to the CC2500 version, which is limited to 100mW Max. So bags the question of CC2500 being a better option? From RadioMaster specs/website: CC2500:100mW Max (20dBm) / ELRS FCC: 250mW Max (24dBm) / ELRS EU-LBT: 100mW Max (20dBm) Two features that the Pocket has that I wish RadioMaster had included on the Zorro are: (1) 18650 cells, and (2) the removable/storable stick ends.
Depends what you need. Just remember 100mW range: CC = 200m ELRS = 20000m If you will be right beside yourself, and not going behind trees and buildings, it matters less, but I personally switched to ELRS because of the terrible reliability of the CC2500 transmission protocols. 🤷♂️
@@JoshuaBardwell lol makes me feel better. That was only 2 months ago. I've been watching for years and this would only add to my wife's claim I don't pay enough attention. 🙃 Also happy you aren't sick of fpv!
Great review. I've been using a zorro since release but have always been disappointed with the use of 18350's. I use a cable and have a 3000mah 2s in my pocket so it's not a deal breaker but it'd be nice to not have to. At this price I might pick one of these up and try it out. Probably be good to have a spare anyway.
I had the same issue with Zorro, and think that was a bad call by Radiomaster on an otherwise phenomenal product. So, my buddy 3D printed a little battery case for me that piggybacks on the nano mount and exactly holds 2 18650s for Aux power. If you solder up 2 18650s (3400s) in series (careful!) it's a great solution! You can find good examples of the piggyback case online if you 3D print or have a friend who does.
don't game controller chuck anything.... I am a game dev and I need every controller for testing. I dropped my PS5 controller from 2 feet off the ground one time, and one time only... and it never was the same, I had to buy a new one because the left stick had a infinite drift from that point on... (and trust me i know it was 1 single drop, i store all my dev controllers in a desk that they never go anyhwere). maybe its just the PS5 controller is fragile and crap but it is what it is...
I’m getting this because of the price point and the 18650s over the ones my zorro currently takes, I have other powering options but it’s hard to beat the battery life these two larger batteries will provide in one package
Trying to get all the stuff i need to fly some drones around, so i ordered this radio today. I wasnt sure If i made the right choice, I was going to get the Jumper T lite (I think it was ha), but after watching this video i feel better about my decision. Cant wait to get it and try it out ha.
Loving all these videos. Building my first quad, went for the radiomaster pocket and really love it. It has built in elrs. My Flywoo aio board has built in elrs rx. Well, can anyone please tell me how I can activate 12 channels? It appears to be limited to 8 channels. I have been through the menus etc and cannot find an option to change the number of channels. First person to answer correctly will receive my undying gratitude.
Not sure if your guess about the 3 types of people is correct. I have big hands, 20+ years in RC models and I normally take good care of my gear. But I'm still interested in the Pocket because I don´t like taking one of my TX16S on a hike. It is way smaller, and lighter. I just don´t know if I can fly with it... I'm used to have my transmitters in a tray and a tray would again add weight and size to it.... I might give it a try... 🙂
Hey, a beginner from Europe here, I've been wanting to get into fpv but there is a limitation to 100mw output in Europe, is that enough? Great video btw, really love this type of information-packed reviews.
@@JoshuaBardwell Ok, thanks a bunch! What about flying indoors (wall penetration, flying on floors below ground level situations, etc.)? Forgot to mention that.
Interesting looking little radio. Im considering buying a second to either replace or supplement my TX12. I am leaning towards the Boxer with 1W, but having a cheap radio that I can keep in my truck or as a backup is an interesting prospect.
You have the cheap radio... The TX 12. I can't figure out why people think they need multiple radios. Lol Cuz they just like spending money? A person can only fly with one, so why own more. I've been flying FPV since 2015 and never found a need to buy another radio. I wouldn't leave a radio in your truck or outside at all. Won't be good for it. And how hard is it to just grab your radio as you walk to your truck? Save you money, Bro, and put it towards a new drone or going digital. 😎👍
@@KOrnhOliO1 Personally, I like having backups for most things that are important to me, if I can afford to. I have a backup transmitter and backup goggles. Two is one and one is none as they say. To each his own.
@@kurtzFPV A lot of extra money spent... Especially if your #1 model is working good. I can see having an extra motor for a quad, but having an extra radio and extra goggles? That's a lotta money most guys don't want to spend. I can order another radio or goggles, if mine were to go out, from RDQ, etc and get them in 3-4 days.
@@KOrnhOliO1 Yeah, I guess it is just two different ways of looking at it. With all the money spent in this hobby, it is worth it to me. As an added bonus, my backup transmitter is small, for if I want to travel very light, and my backup goggles allow me to give ridealongs. The transmitter is not very expensive, and I got a good deal on the second set of goggles when I bought the DJI Potato setup used, but just refreshed, from a camera drone pilot who decided FPV wasn't his thing.
I am all 3 kinds of people at once, kinda. I guess my hands are average size, but I like to be able to access ALL the switches and controls without moving my hands at all or taking my eyes off my plane. The Pocket and the Zorro fulfill that for me. They are just very confortable to hold and everything is exactly where it should be (to my liking). Since getting the Zorro and the Pocket, my NX8 feels like a monstrous clumsy brick in my hands, no thanks! Same for my buddy's Taranis I flew the other day. Nice radio, but way too big, heavy and complicated for me. But my point is, this radio is not JUST for beginners. Some of us experienced RC pilots want a small and lightweight radio that is uncluttered while being fully capable of getting the job done and I DONT have to worry about it getting knocked around at the field. I don't want or need 1,000 switches, color touch screen, or any expensive whizz bang nonsense to impress the next guy how much I spent. I know guys who spend all this money thinking "expensive means good" and yet they don't know how to even use the radio they have. Pffft! What I want is durability, capability, flexibility and simplicity. Both the Zorro and Pocket solidly deliver all of the above at a great price. Bottom line: Get the radio you like best, with the features you want and what suits your purpose. Dont ever let anyone tell you you should or shouldn't like or buy this or that. Do what's right for YOU and enjoy it. The Pocket is NOT just for beginners, but it IS for rc pilots looking for small lightweight simple and durable - oh and surprisingly unexpensive, too!
Yas 🙏 my tx16s fell of my desk broke all the front switches 😢 I want to be able to put my guard and gear in a back pack without the huge Carry box for my radio I want some rugged gear for hiking to the spot to fly 🤷🏼♂️
My fingers shake a lot when I am shooting videos for my project. Do you think this radio will suit me given that larger gimbals have more room for errors and jitters.. I currently fly with AG01 mini’s
Just smacked my remote hard on concrete a few hours ago. Still working, but something is ratteling inside, very suspcious. Love a remote review right now:)
Had these drones for over a month. No bind. I got as far as it saying telemetry “connected” I think.. THEN NOT. IT happened fast. And early a.m.. Gave me hope until hours amd hours later.. Reddit rocks and they’re saying faulty radio.. I am a rookie, so what might I be doing incorrect? Elrs pocket to Mobil’s 8 edge tx and hummingbird drone..?
I got big hands but dont really care as long as the pocket can withstand being manhandled. Not to mention since its using hall effect makes this the best cheap radio for me 😊😊😊
Not totally true that you can use any 18650. You have the with some small differences in length. I found out the hard way for the battery holder for my goggles. The ones from my Fenix flashlight for example where longer and did not fit. It not the difference in button top or flat top. Its really the cell hight.
I have a radiomaster boxer.. I love it, 1w is awesome. But i really want a smaller lighter radio so i can hike/travel with tiny quads and not need to lug around the tank that is the boxer.. Prob gonna buy the pocket and run both for a bit i used a LiteRadio 2 for a while and LOVED how small it was. Never really understood the large radios =x all about how you fly
Yea looking to replace t-lite .. never like the gimbals feel. But i like something using smaller radio. And internal elrs be nice now that all my drones except 1 is elrs. I barely fly my tinyhawk 2. I do have 3 elrs 915 drones
Nail on the head. I bought it for, first time FPV, cost, and to pass onto my sons who have smaller hands - after I get proficient to buy a better/bigger unit. It is cramped for me at times on the sim (i am a carpenter so i have sausage fingers)
The real question is, since these are on pre-order everywhere, is whether they have a problem or are reliable and if the break easily. No review I've seen answers that. I always wait for the first batch of ANYTHING to come out and find out what people are saying and what they are having problems with. Saves you big time from buying lemons (1st batches). Sometimes, when a new product is released, some bugs are found. Waiting helps you avoid those. Example is practically EVERY SINGLE BetaFPV product ever released! They are notorious for releasing new products defective or with problems. I only buy BetaFPV products with a V3 behind the name... Yes, V2 from them can still have issues! Many times that's been the case.😮😢
can someone help me out with my gimbals please... i went to hardware / debug / anas just like bardwell did on 13:08 and my throttle value its moving constantly when i raised it up to 20-40%. i calibrated it but it didnt fix it. my drone has 0 low throttle control because of this... can anyone help my fix this or myonly option are new gimbals? i have a radiomaster tx12.... thanks in advance!!
Any chance you will start reviewing FrSky radios again? ETHOS along with the FrSky tandem receivers like the TD MX look like a really good option for 5" quads. You're the guy we go to for the nitty gritty details. If it's good we'd like to know. Same for if it isn't good. I honestly dont make many FPV purchases without first consulting a JB video. I just wish there was a JB video on the new FrSky radios/receivers.
I don't see much chance of that happening. I lost interest in FrSky some time back. It's not something I would use, and it's not something I would recommend others use. Think of it this way: what is the best control link you can get today? Crossfire? ExpressLRS? Whatever your answer, it's definitely not FrSky. And FrSky has repeatedly demosntrated they are willing to screw over their customers when it comes to supporting any 3rd party tech that could compete with Frsky. For the longest time, FrSky did not support ELRS at all. Now they sort of kind of support ELRS, but frankly I wouldn't advise anybody to buy a FrSky radio on the assumption that support will continue.
@@JoshuaBardwell thanks for the reply. It was worth a shot. You're my go-to for RC knowledge. It was my assumption that FrSky's RC protocols are vastly different now than they were before the community fell out of love with them. They have some charts on their website showing 4ms latency for Archer in race mode. I'm not sure of the distance or reliability of their link thiugh. It would be interesting to have measurable data on ACCESS, Archer, Tandem, etc but I completely understand having a sour taste based on how they abruptly changed their business model and left many long time devotees out in the wind. Thanks for you time. 🙏
@@JoshuaBardwell I wanted to add that I fly crossfire and I dont see myself changing anytime soon. My gear thats not crossfire is R9 gear flashed to ELRS. My two radios are a 2013 OG Taranis and a X-lite. What got me interested is that I am looking to finally upgrade my radio after over a decade and I like FrSky's offerings. I dont intend to use their protocols, was just interested in how things might have changed.
Thx for the detailed video. I'm looking for a controller I can charge w/ USB c and use for flight sims when volunteering at schools. I see it has batteries but you mentioned they will run down on sim. Teachers also need, easy plug in and use in the classroom, where it recognizes that controller without special programming w/ DRL or Liftoff. Would you recommend zoro or pocketmaster or another manuf? Also ELRS or CC2500 for teachers in the sim?
I own a Spectrum DX6i Radio years old but unused, from my RC days? Should I consider buying a more modern radio such as this one, or stick with the DX6? I can then just buy a decent Quad and goggles? Cheers.
Hello, good day, excellent video, I bought the RadioMaster Pocket to bind all my drones, I managed to bind my Pavo20, but when trying to bind the CetusX I followed the steps and I have not been able to do it, I want to know if this is compatible and perhaps explain what the CetusX bind process with RadioMaster Pocket, thank you very much for your help
Just as an FYI to anyone else looking into these radios, they have announced the AG01 CNC gimbles for the Pocket now. Going to to cost about the same as the controller though, around $60.
Great review and very informative. I'm new to the hobby and was thinking of using this as my first transmitter. I had a question though, what receivers are compatible with this?
One simply will not bind. I don’t need a cup do I? Just to see if my moguls 8 and new hummingbird simply connects.. Correct? Anyways I tried on cpu. Will NOT bind after copying radio master controls. All “arm” controls + are on. No bind sad😢
The Radio itself is great but the gimbal springs are horrible. Either they barely manage to center the sticks or you have to use massiv force to bring them to the outside.
So what radiomaster is best for planes? I also have 4 different micro planes i recently bought...hk a180 rapter, paptor h650,emachine t28 and a micro bush plane that has a protocol i read works with radio master full sized radio...my problem with these multi protocol radios is they seem very complex...i certainly would never need more than 6 channels for anything i fly...how difficult are they to set up...thanks
Good review. Do you think that maybe the Zorro or Boxer are better Radio than EdgeTx Pocket? I still have my TX16s which I love along with the Futaba 16IZ.
I have one since a few months, I got a prototype unit. It is my go to radio for business trips. You can just throw it into the backpack and do some sim flying in the evening. The kids also love it for flying.
Totally new to the hobby , flying airplane, heli and potentially drones. Im deciding between pocket, zorro and boxer 4in1 ( BNF planes) with a potential module for ELRS . Which would be one tx to get that will work with RM micro receiver too for PNP planes ?
Hi Joshua I recently bought a GEPRC Cinelog 25 v2 and thought it would be a good idea to have them install a GPS on it. I've found that the drone won't arm without being locked on to at least 6 or 7 satellites. The problem with that is I can't fly it indoors. Is there an easy remedy for that? BetaFlight? I'm looking to move from the DJI controller to something else. Will the Radio Master Pocket bind with DJI Air 3? Will the Jumper T Pro V2 bind with DJI Air 3? Thanks for all your work and excellent videos. That's why I'm a patron.
This product chucking is getting familiar. Toughest equipment testing I guess. I was an aircraft mechanic, and my boss never said anything like that, cuz he flew them….at night….at three feet and seventy mph…..around power lines and trees and houses. 😊
This radio would be perfect with some nicer gimbals. I love the tiny form factor as a thumber and have grown to hate the bulk when transporting my tx16 with the external module
The larger gimbals of the boxer and TX16S add much more range allowing you to use the full resolution more effectively in numbers this translates to something like a 45 vs 255 rate and faster maneuverability. These reviews are a lie especially from Joshua Bardwell as they don't first just say smaller gimbals are more sensitive instead Joshua Bardwell chooses to tell you subliminally in 20:29 in the upper left hand corner you can see what I mean. Using the pocket I did however find it increases my finesse and is great for training. You could definitely live with the pocket sensitivity and freestyle for years its still very good, same as the Zorro as far as I know, or you're poor and want a budget setup with used goggles, or maybe someone under 25. Poor being pretty expensive in this case for the whole FPV setup and is a very good deal especially for its full edgeTX features. Perfect for budget long range. For gliders and planes with intended less maneuverability such as replica props it would be better suited as well. You could say the pocket vs TX16s/Boxer are exactly the same in feeling after being tuned and the difference negligible considering the cost. I believe the gimbals are the exact same as the Zorro so if you are considering the Zorro you should get the Pocket considering the reviews are actually the same as the Zorro and price is cheaper. It also looks like you could upgrade to the AG01 Mini's with the pocket. Controls 9/10 Features 10/10 Price 10/10
So it sounds like for someone like me flying a couple old dsmx quads this radio as a 4n1 with am external elrs module for my new air65/75 Whoops! could be the way to go!

thanks for summarizing edge tx so succinctly! It's one of those things that "everyone just knows" but a quick summary is really useful for newbies short on time! ❤
Agreed, since people looking for reviews of the cheapest "good" radio are also the most likely to also be newbies.
I was already eyeing this radio. now i am sold for sure.
Just a shame it doesn't seem to have a way to externally toggle the spring on the throttle as I use my radios for all sorts of different models, not just drones/planes.
get a boxer
You can actually. The "L-R" screws on the back under the battery cover (one each side). Turn clockwise to disable self-centering, turn counterclockwise to enable self-centering.
@@jasonhurdlow6607 oh nice, thank you!
Maybe in future
Nice radio, I will stick with my jumper T-Lite V1 with external ELRS, since I love the form factor and I am a thumber. I did break a switch when it fell on concrete, so I ordered spares and since I have to take it appart, nicer gimballs for it, and a lanyard screw, just to personalize it a bit and make it less likely to fall on the floor again.😊
Hi, I am also using the same radio, what gimbals you ordered and hows the difference
I didnt like how gimbal movements felt. I dont know.
People come up to me with tears in their eyes. They tell me SIR you have the smallest hands.
Haha someone is a fellow Pakman watcher.
Got my Pocket and love it.
I wish to get AG01 gimbals for it. Yes I know its cost almost twice of the radio, but I got Pocket due to its cool form factor.
Original gimbals not bad at all, more like i like make it a little premium feel.
just received it and it works wonders for small hands people.
your awesome man, just the radio i was looking for
Great review like always. Just ordered one for my tinyhawk freestyle2 with the cc2500 version. Pretty sure it will serve me well for my needs
Well after 6 months how is it? I just ordered the fcc elrs version with a module that allows me to bind to different receivers. Switching from my eachine branded lite radio 2
@@SuperKREPSINIS this rádio has 868 frequency MHz? Works in Europe
?
It's rough for sure but I love it. I'm finally getting past the hurdles of finding places to fly and worry over crashing in fpv
learned pretty much everything fpv from bardwells videos. i would be no where without him.
@@sattyaddy8451 yeah i just got his videos on my recommendations so I'll be watching more of his videos for sure.
At 17:21, the reference to 250 mW is an ELRS only assumption (not usable in all global regions). For example, it does not apply to the EU version of the Pocket, nor to the CC2500 version, which is limited to 100mW Max. So bags the question of CC2500 being a better option?
From RadioMaster specs/website: CC2500:100mW Max (20dBm) / ELRS FCC: 250mW Max (24dBm) / ELRS EU-LBT: 100mW Max (20dBm)
Two features that the Pocket has that I wish RadioMaster had included on the Zorro are: (1) 18650 cells, and (2) the removable/storable stick ends.
Depends what you need.
Just remember 100mW range:
CC = 200m
ELRS = 20000m
If you will be right beside yourself, and not going behind trees and buildings, it matters less, but I personally switched to ELRS because of the terrible reliability of the CC2500 transmission protocols. 🤷♂️
Great video! Whats with the "FPV sucks" label on top left on the mat at 1:14? This isn't an "easter egg" way of telling us you are quitting is it?? 😢
It's been there for years
@@ericaschner3283 lol shows how much I pay attention
It's been there since my review of I think the pirat frames Sloop. It came with the frame.
@@JoshuaBardwell lol makes me feel better. That was only 2 months ago. I've been watching for years and this would only add to my wife's claim I don't pay enough attention. 🙃
Also happy you aren't sick of fpv!
Hi! I just got this radio as my first RC aircraft radio. I'm excited to use it once my airplane's electronics arrive!!
you can use the zorros ag01 mini gimbals
and you can buy them seperately
Still running the Jumper T12 after all these years, and I still love it.
LOL @JoshuaBardwell
El Presidente has small hands 🤣

"Now we find out if I broke it"... Bardwell, that was quite a sell for me! You game-controller chucked it, but it was fine! Nice testing!
don't game controller chuck anything....
Yes it's enough. Especially if you use lower packet rates like 50 Hz.
You won't regret the Boxer going from a TX12.
Yas 🙏 my tx16s fell of my desk broke all the front switches 😢 I want to be able to put my guard and gear in a back pack without the huge Carry box for my radio I want some rugged gear for hiking to the spot to fly 🤷🏼♂️
than you for pointing that out!
I would like to try this radio on surface trucks specially with 4WS.
Awesome review, Joshua! Thanks!!! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Well, thank you for such a comprehensive review, here's hoping the affiliate links still work on the EU version of the Radio master website.
I got big hands but dont really care as long as the pocket can withstand being manhandled. Not to mention since its using hall effect makes this the best cheap radio for me 😊😊😊
Nice video, What modules can I use with this radio to fly my “nano crossfire” drone?
TBS crossfire Nano module.
I do have 3 elrs 915 drones
i love how you throw the radio
Nail on the head. I bought it for, first time FPV, cost, and to pass onto my sons who have smaller hands - after I get proficient to buy a better/bigger unit. It is cramped for me at times on the sim (i am a carpenter so i have sausage fingers)
Those SD cards may feel cheap but they don't really need to be big or fast to work with edge-TX.
the issue is that they have high failure rate or at least have had in the past
Still haven't gotten my replacement for my Ranger Nano, and I was a pre-order from December 2022
clear case is so cool!
You absolutely nailed this thank you! 🙏🏼
Thank you! Very informative and clicked your link.
Could I pair this as a slave TX to my FrSky X20S to trainer my kids?
3 people seems like a fairly small market 🤓
Hi Joshua , I have been waiting for your review for long time for this radio. Much appreciated.
What if you want elrs built in with more than 250? Can you add that back snap on mod and get more?
Good as usual. Are you planning to review Jumper T20?
Its worth noting 1year into the future, when you click the radiomaster link to buy, there is now an option for AG01 Nano CNC hall gimbals. 😀
Now I want a smoke black case for boxer
Thx for the detailed video. I'm looking for a controller I can charge w/ USB c and use for flight sims when volunteering at schools. I see it has batteries but you mentioned they will run down on sim. Teachers also need, easy plug in and use in the classroom, where it recognizes that controller without special programming w/ DRL or Liftoff. Would you recommend zoro or pocketmaster or another manuf? Also ELRS or CC2500 for teachers in the sim?
I have the same question. I also volunteer at a school. Did you ever decide on a transmitter?
I own a Spectrum DX6i Radio years old but unused, from my RC days? Should I consider buying a more modern radio such as this one, or stick with the DX6? I can then just buy a decent Quad and goggles? Cheers.
Had the same question - now struggeling wirh the range of the dx6i and want to get the radiomaster
Assuming the Cetus X has ExpressLRS receiver, the bind process should be the same. Does it have an ELRS receiver?
i bought this radio and I’m a beginner so this video is perfect for me, thank you ( mine comes in 4 days)
Big hand man. bought to carry it in backpack. Should last more than previous one :)
Jumper T-lite vs radiomaster pocket which one better?
One simply will not bind. I don’t need a cup do I? Just to see if my moguls 8 and new hummingbird simply connects.. Correct? Anyways I tried on cpu. Will NOT bind after copying radio master controls. All “arm” controls + are on. No bind sad😢
With an 1W Elrs module with 1000Hz what is the average range in open area?
More than you'll ever need. There are some people that have gone 40km/25 miles on 25mw output power and not failsafe.
NIce and compact, although my QX7 with Hall gimbals and an ELRS module has worked well for me over many years.
would you consider switching to this radio? i have your same setup
Good review. Do you think that maybe the Zorro or Boxer are better Radio than EdgeTx Pocket? I still have my TX16s which I love along with the Futaba 16IZ.
have you or anyone else in the comments used the Taranis QX7 and this radio? Just looking to see how the gimbals compare to each other.
The QX7 gimbals are better.
i like the removable sticks but i don't like the button switches
I have one since a few months, I got a prototype unit. It is my go to radio for business trips. You can just throw it into the backpack and do some sim flying in the evening.
The kids also love it for flying.
I just bought this radio! Can you please make a video on how to bind it to a drone because it is not working for me?!?
th-cam.com/video/Dz7bdXWKC1Q/w-d-xo.html
Totally new to the hobby , flying airplane, heli and potentially drones. Im deciding between pocket, zorro and boxer 4in1 ( BNF planes) with a potential module for ELRS . Which would be one tx to get that will work with RM micro receiver too for PNP planes ?
Hi Joshua
I recently bought a GEPRC Cinelog 25 v2 and thought it would be a good idea to have them install a GPS on it.
You can fly indoors if you go to the Failsafe tab and allow "arm without GPS fix".
This product chucking is getting familiar. Toughest equipment testing I guess. I was an aircraft mechanic, and my boss never said anything like that, cuz he flew them….at night….at three feet and seventy mph…..around power lines and trees and houses. 😊
Can you lock of the gimbals to two Chanel (rc car) type movement?
Hello...just got the elrs model and wondering if i could bind this to an emax tinyhawk 2 or do i need to buy a module? Thank u
It just depends what receiver type is in the TH2. If it's ELRS, then yes you can bind it. If it's FrSky D8, then no; you would need a module.
@JoshuaBardwell thank u sir...ur one of the few im subscribed to that actually replies...appreciate it
This radio would be perfect with some nicer gimbals. I love the tiny form factor as a thumber and have grown to hate the bulk when transporting my tx16 with the external module
Don't need better gimbals, these are fine since my days of flying Kraft radios. I bet you don't know how well these are compared to the 80's
Look at the TX12, I went with that instead of this one and it's much more comfortable for pinching.
There's nothing wrong with the gimbals. They are smooth, consistent and reliable and do not feel like cheap junk in your hand. Non-issue.
I ended up purchasing a SpeedyBee V3 F7 and a DJI O3 unit - how do I know what radio to buy?
So it sounds like for someone like me flying a couple old dsmx quads this radio as a 4n1 with am external elrs module for my new air65/75 Whoops! could be the way to go!
Great video as always brother ❤
Thank you so much for your awesome review of this radio.
I'm just wondering though.
Do you know if you can buy a 4 in 1 module for it and if so which one would you buy?
Thanks.
