Donny..... I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your friend. I will keep his friends and family in my prayers🙏. I gotta kick out of the generator story. I think of the old adage....." The shoemaker's kids don't have shoes!"
This video was perfect timing. I’ve got a 268 that has the metal chain brake handle. The band is broke on it. Does replacing the band on the 268 and 266’s follow the same process as the 395 in this video?
Alrighty... I have to ask, what is any benefit of the external "outboard" clutch/chain-brake? Obviously internal "inboard" is superior in balance, crank-case width, and bar & chain replacement.... So why the external clutch? Why did Husky hold on to that design for so long?
@@donnywalker4691 Kind of strange, that's all. It obviously works, as Macs, Poulans, JReds, Echos and Huskies all used it. It just strikes me as odd that it took so long to be integrated. Like the vertical cylinder, clutch-driven oiler, "high" positioned muffler were all applied industry wide in five years, but the inboard clutch took decades. Despite being superior or equal in every aspect, it was overlooked for so long. I'm just curious if it was weight related or ease of manufacturing.... ? Don't get me wrong, it works perfectly well... That's not an issue at all.. it's just an odd choice.
