Insurance absolutely works if u count cards. If the true count is plus 3 or more u take insurance. Worked for me like a charm. Hit the 15s and 16s if the true count is minus 3 or more, worked for me also.

I'm going to Nick Kollas' next spring to learn how to deal blackjack. Trying to memorize basic strategy, some say always double on eleven, etc etc. I like this way the best, easy to remember...I want to be able to give the players good advice if they ask and be good at what I do when we move to Las Vegas is all! I will say to ALWAYS split 8s, split Aces, and ALWAYS stand on soft 20, that's my advice! Great video BTW!
A tip when filming with 2 cameras/angles. Never cross the 180 degree line. The 2nd close-up should beside the main camera. In this case its opposite, confuses the viewer. Here endeth the lesson.

I totally disagree with him at 12:55. The dealer must draw with a 4 and you have a hand that not only is not a 17 or better, but you can't bust no matter what you draw. This is a great time to MAXIMIZE your bet!
He's not saying the Wizard's Simple Strategy is better than Basic Strategy - just easier to remember. As a dealer, you've probably got a lot of good stories about crazy players with no idea what they're doing. The Simply Strategy will at least make the player fairly respectable at the table! From there, they can work to refine it to knowing the basic strategy. Also - surrendering works to maximize your bankroll!
Have you ever read playing blackjack as a business? In that book there is a chart players gain or loss by drawing on hard 12-17 A-6 A-7 A-8 A-9 when dealer stands on soft 17. There should be a chart for when dealer hits soft 17 the gain or loss.

Do NOT double a 9 against a 2 as many cards work with 2's (even a 3 is risky, but not a bad double). 3.) You SPLIT 9's against an 8. Don't take the push. More 10's than anything. Try to win them both. Even if u get one 19 and one shit hand, u push anyway

There is a charge to see the cards. The other players pay for some of those cards for you. Get first base on a table with about 3 players (3 hands) and this is the optimal balance of prediction of the cards and "paid visibility".
Why would you double down on 11 or 10 when the dealer shows a face card? That girl got super lucky getting a face card. The real rule of thumb with doubling is only when the dealer has a 8 or less because if dealer pulls up a 10 on a 8 then he has to stop at a 18.

The decision is not the end all of whether you will win or lose, but it does have some advantages if you count cards. The first seat or "first base" is optimal for a card counter. Why is this? Because the next card out is closest to the running count and when you make the decision to bet up or down.

I do not mean to be negative, but to make the strategy effective, you would have to play about 10,000 hands in a row....and I do not know anyone with that kind of time and bankroll. Having said that, can a recreational blackjack player stand a chance of a modest win with a bank roll of let's say $300?(Assuming blackjack pays 3:2).
Why would you Surrender a Hard 16 against a Dealer High card. If your going to surrender and loose,WHY not just take a possible hit because it could make your hand possibly win. Surrendering is automatic LOSS. Thanks for your answer. Jeff
Because you only win about 23% of the time. That gives you an expected win of (23%)(+1)+(77%)(-1)=(-54%)(1). In other words, you are expected to lose more than half your bet. If you surrender, you only lose 0.5 bets. In the long run, you would be down less money if you always surrender than you would be if you never surrendered.
soft is a hand with an ace and something else, you cannot bust a hand with an ace. 9 and ace is eeither a 10 or 20, therefore is a soft hand. hard hand means it doesn´t have an ace in it, a hard ace needs to have both cards to complete 8 for example.
Hi, Why is your Basic Strategy charts different from Edward's Thorp "Beat the Dealer" book where for instance on the HARD STANDING numbers of 14 , 15 , 16 he recommends to HIT always ( 2 exceptions against a 10 ) and your charts recommend to STAND with those hands agasint dealer's 2 through 6 ? Thanks for the videos. *Is the strategy still the same if the dealer only draw 1 face card? I play Blackjack in Macau and the dealer only draw 1 face card. The dealer doesn't draw the faced-down card, he draws he second card and the rest after all the players have played their hands.
If you look at the strategy guide he is pretty much telling you the same thing the guide is telling you to do you can bring the guide to the blackjack table they wont say nothing to you for it.
but on a 12 with the d showing a 2, there is 9 cards that help you and 4 that hurt you. odds are in your favor. but im sure everyone who really knows, knows. just trying to help.
That is why most of the time, it is better to hit on 12, but if the dealer is showing 4-6, then you are generally better off hoping that the dealer busts.
you wanna win at blackjack. stay on 12 and above everytime. my theory in blackjack " you can't win if you don't have cards". these experts say to hit against a dealer facecard showing you have to assume the dealer has 20. well if you hit 12 and get to 19 you have to hit 19 they say stay. why? if your assuming the dealer has 20 you gotta hit 19. stay on 12 and higher and you'll be better off.

I am not sure, but the playing deviation I read was that you stand 16 vs 9 at a true 5, 16 stands 10 at true 0 and 15 stands 10 at true 4.

Also I was a dealer for 15 years, and most dealers are no better at blackjack than their players, in fact alot of dealers are compulsive gamblers

Don't take insurance UNLESS you're counting cards and the count is high! If you don't take it you're leaving money on the table.

If you surrender, you only lose 0.5 bets. In the long run, you would be down less money if you always surrender than you would be if you never surrendered.

soft is a hand with an ace and something else, you cannot bust a hand with an ace. 9 and ace is eeither a 10 or 20, therefore is a soft hand. hard hand means it doesn´t have an ace in it, a hard ace needs to have both cards to complete 8 for example.

Why is your Basic Strategy charts different from Edward's Thorp "Beat the Dealer" book where for instance on the HARD STANDING numbers of 14 , 15 , 16 he recommends to HIT always ( 2 exceptions against a 10 ) and your charts recommend to STAND with those hands agasint dealer's 2 through 6 ?

Thanks for the videos. *Is the strategy still the same if the dealer only draw 1 face card? I play Blackjack in Macau and the dealer only draw 1 face card. The dealer doesn't draw the faced-down card, he draws he second card and the rest after all the players have played their hands.
If you look at the strategy guide he is pretty much telling you the same thing the guide is telling you to do you can bring the guide to the blackjack table they wont say nothing to you for it.
Soft 13- soft 15 doubles against 5 and 6.
but on a 12 with the d showing a 2, there is 9 cards that help you and 4 that hurt you. odds are in your favor. but im sure everyone who really knows, knows. just trying to help.
That is why most of the time, it is better to hit on 12, but if the dealer is showing 4-6, then you are generally better off hoping that the dealer busts.

you wanna win at blackjack. stay on 12 and above everytime. my theory in blackjack " you can't win if you don't have cards". these experts say to hit against a dealer facecard showing you have to assume the dealer has 20. well if you hit 12 and get to 19 you have to hit 19 they say stay. why? if your assuming the dealer has 20 you gotta hit 19. stay on 12 and higher and you'll be better off.
dude he already analyzed that strategy on his website its called the "never bust" strategy and it gives the house a horrendous edge! do not do it or expect to lose.
Bruh, who said anything about assuming the dealer has a 10 hole card? Also, are you seriously going to count on the dealer busting to win if the chance of his busting is only 25%? No wonder casinos make so much money.
