    Odds can NEVER TRULY be calculated for Blackjack because EVERY DRAW will change that persons odds of winning or losing...There is no set Statistics odds...
    Of course unless, you could count every card drawn and get your odds after each one...

    "Even if you just play one basic strategy, the odds are better for you than for 99% of other players out there." Hilarious but so true!

    What ANNOYS me the most is that people ACTUALLY think they have the odds hitting on 15 and higher HA HA HA..You DO NOT..
    Right off the bat with NO cards drawn the breaking point of the player having the odds on hitting is at 14...Why? Because at 14 there is still MORE cards in the deck that will put him BELOW 21...If they hit on 15 or higher their odds of busting are HIGHER...Unless they have been counting cards and know that their chances have switched and a lot of high cards have been drawn!

    Thank you so much Michael and Angela! Much appreciated, great talk. Quick question please: I get why we should choose games with rules favorable in exactly the way you and Colin Jones describe, but do they state the rules at the table, so I don't have to ask the dealer? I would rather not have to ask.

    Hey mike I have a question I just finished reading Knock-out blackjack by Olaf Vancura and I'm trying to learn the playing deviations the book does include them but the chart is not so intuitive can you provide a list of these plays under the KO count and please make them clear

    Wrong! You ALWAYS take insurance on a True count of 3 and above. There is an exception

    You should take insurance if you're card counting and the deck is 10 card dense.

    Michael, isn’t there a very slight mathematical edge to being as close to last to act at a blackjack table, because you see a few more cards. Theoretically, over the long run this would change your decisions occasionally and maybe be worth .005 or so to your EV???

    • @ShawnaMcCulley
      @ShawnaMcCulley ปีที่แล้ว

      No bc you can’t place bet until the next hand so either way you will have the same information by the next hand no matter where your sitting and you can bet accordingly

    • @MrZola1234
      @MrZola1234 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ShawnaMcCulley the advantage comes from playing decisions, not betting decisions. Not sure how much you know about counting and BJ, but your decision with hands does change based on the count. So, seeing a few more cards may change a decision hit/s, split/double… not a lot, but over the long run of 100,000s of hands it may be worth a little.

      @@MrZola1234 bro holy fk talk about projection just search up card counting bet spreads this is the most important factor to winning at blackjack you obviously know nothing and got all your information from the movie 21 accept that they used this same technique in the movie so idk where your getting your info card counting just allows you track when the odds are in your favor when the count goes up it means there is more high cards left in the shoe this gives the player a very slight edge against the house and the higher the count the higher you bet what your referring to is strategy deviations which is a more advanced technique that can bring your game to the next level but is not a winning strategy by itself I’m clearly far more educated than you on the subject because these are the very very basics of card counting if you don’t you don’t understand this the you literally know nothing at all about the subject and I doubt you Evan know how to keep a count now pls just take 30 seconds to search what a bet spread is or better yet just search on Google how card counting works it will tell you the same thing and once your done come back and write me an apology for acting like a know it all while being completely ignorant I was literally trying to help you out but you seem pretty hopeless

    • @ShawnaMcCulley
      @ShawnaMcCulley ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrZola1234 this was the very first result from Wikipedia when I googled how card counting works don’t tell someone they don’t know anything about a subject you’ve done 30 seconds of research on it’s only going to make you look stupid :Card counting is a blackjack strategy used to determine whether the player or the dealer has an advantage on the next hand. Card counters are advantage players who try to overcome the casino house edge by keeping a running count of high and low valued cards dealt. They generally bet more when they have an advantage and less when the dealer has an advantage. They also change playing decisions based on the composition of the deck.

    • @MrZola1234
      @MrZola1234 ปีที่แล้ว

      @user-br3ph8qp3g i didn't tell you that you didn't know anything about card counting. Also, i didn't google card counting. I didn't have too. I was a practicing card counter for years. I said I'm not sure how familiar you are with it. Your statement, though didn't really address my statement/ question and sounded like someone that was a novice in relationship to card counting. You focused on the betting aspect, and i was pointing out my question or statement was regarding the decision side of playing. If you check your googled article you posted, you will see the 2 aspects mentioned.
      Most of the overall advantage comes from bet sizing, but a snall portion of the advantage (which was what I was pointing out to Michael) does come from decision changes as the count changes. As you see the few extra cards mid hand what you do with a hand will change once in a while so mathematically it will help a little bit.

    “If a blackjack pays 6/5, turn around and walk the other way” ... but... what if all the casinos in driving distance only offer 6/5? Should I just never play??? I really want to get into playing blackjack but literally none of the casinos within my tri-state area offer 3/2 anymore :(.

    Re Danesters
    yep I have been thinking that aswell for sure, but u must remember the reason y hitting is advised and that is because of what the dealer has aswell. That is half the deal so if the Dealer has a 10 say the chance is he will beat u cos all he needs is a 7 thru Ace and he could even get a 3 card win by drawing a 2 or 3 or 4 etc then drawing an 8 or 9 or 7 or whatever yer see my point so in the case of 15v10 or 16v10 etc u should hit unless counting cards and there will be some strategy variations. From my experience from playing for 35 years u should hit believe me

      Yeah, I've won more than I lost with Basic Strategy.
      I did the same thing with Spanish 21 with a few alterations to the strategy for bonus payouts on a 21. :)

  • @yumha38

    Hello Mr Shackleford, do you think eventually the 6:5 odds will drive away players to the point that single deck games will go away all together?

    • @TehJew22
      @TehJew22 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably.
      Card Counters could still play it, if only so they don't get banned from a casino.
      But I would much rather play a Double Deck game with decent rules, if given the choice between the two.

    • @yumha38
      @yumha38 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree 100%, actually a 6 deck shoe game, BJ pays 3:2 is a the best, assuming there is no double deck that pays 3:2. I do know that Boom town Casino in about 10 mi as you approach Reno NV has single deck, hand shuffle, and it pays 3:2, $5.00 min during the day.

    • @TehJew22
      @TehJew22 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      yumha38 Really? :D
      I played at Cal Neva and the minimum bet was $3 and it was a Double Deck game and it pays 3:2. The other rules were Dealer hits Soft 17, No Surrender, can't Double after Spilt (You can at the $5 table) and you can Double on any two cards (you can't at the $5 table, only on 10 & 11).
      What are your other favorite table games, yumha38? :)

    • @yumha38
      @yumha38 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahh yes good old Cal Neva, I meant if you do not want to play on the strip....but for me Neva is and always is the 'go to' place. I am surprised how they still stay open...If I am up after playing a hour or so of blackjack I like to play 3 card poker(its fun)...horrible odds lol.....if I am up a couple grand, I like to play casino war, for the same reason. lol

    • @TehJew22
      @TehJew22 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      yumha38 My other favorite games are Craps (at $3 minimum) and Pai Gow Poker (at $5 minimum). :D
      But the other thing I liked about the Cal Neva is the restaurant. :D

      The basic strategy varies depending on the rule set, he even explains this at the end. They are not "way off" it just depends what game you are playing.
