My advice would be, if at all possible, make 2 rivets and solder it to the brass, then drill 2 corresponding holes in the bone, then use epoxy to adhere it all together. It's tricky without seeing the actual project.
Yes, I would usually take a tissue, dampen it with acetone and wipe away the excess, the trick is though, not to do it immediately after gluing it and don't wait for it to completely set either. It needs to be done midway, when it's still a little sticky, but not completely wet. Hope that helps 😊
