If you gentlemen in the comments not Tesla certified battery installer and doesn't know your municipality electrical codes don't say if something is wrong. Also it takes usually two people to install these batteries. Good job boyz.
I would like to know more about the wall prep. It looks like you have installed a special material to mount to, but then the first screw is driven in at a very weak angle? Why?
The PVC board was the customer’s request and had no effect on the mounting. The mounting brackets must be attached to at least 2 studs, so the angle was to ensure it was properly anchored. In the end the PVC board was painted black to highlight the white Powerwalls, and they aren’t budging for anything!
@@tragedy1496 Don't listen to him lol. 4" is the minimum clearance which this one looks to have. 250.122 says #10 is good up to 60A which would be the breaker size for the Powerwall3. As far as the comm wire goes, technically it should be 600V rated wire. Some inspectors look for it here in FL but not many. I run it in the conduit as well sometimes. Job looks clean. Way better than 90% of the trash I see around here. Nice job.
I'm leaning towards two Powerwall 3's. We have brownouts here in rural Fl. I want to use them like a UPS, when my power drops out for a second or 5 minutes it steps in and provides power in an instant. Are they made for that? Do I also need solar panels? Thanks
Yes, this is a perfect use case! Powerwalls will take over if/when grid power drops. If you don't have solar, you can charge them using grid power. (no solar needed)
Can these be installed as just a full home battery back up, with no solar? or Have solar added in the future? I have a Generator that provide emergency power, but Would love a battery system for short duration outages!
They can 100% be installed without solar AND they also qualify for the 30% Federal Solar Tax Credit. If you're in MD, VA, PA, DC, DE, WV shoot us a message at amhomeco.com
They do not require an internet connection to work, but the functionality will be limited. They will still be fully operable, but will not be able to be monitored through the app, activate automated features like Storm Watch, or receive over-the-air updates.
I watched a TH-cam video stating that having an internet connection is necessary for Powerwall firmware updates. Without the Powerwall connected to the internet with no firmware updates, the warranty will only be 4-years.
@@DiegoSanchez12 I just ordered 2 PW3’s and they told me 6 to 12 months. I’m canceling and ordering through Sunvena Solar, one of their premier installers here in Fl. They have them ready to go , just under $2k more than Tesla.
Tesla needs to dimple the center of the cutouts to enable auto centering of the drill.
Stepdown bits are a must
Grewat job looks clean AF

Hey bro, sorry to bother you
Im a master electrician in Co, do you know how can I get certified?
Thx
@@luisalejandrotercero8414 You have to take their course its about 30-40hrs long online and some hours in person i recommend.

Need a min #8 ground more battery separation also dont run comms with ac or dc wiring and use sheilded wire for a more reliable system
When was the last time you did solar? Your last video is 2 years ago I’m saying because I’ve seen comms wire be ran in dc power walls lots of times

Not too wise to be running comms directly with electrical conductors. Probably cheap unshielded Cat5 too. Very clean install though.
Cat6, and they have a separate conduit from building to building with secured free air in the shed 🤘
Ya gotta use shielded wire and hook up the drain wire
Looks fairly straightforward and pretty easy too. Why does Tesla charge over 6000 for installation of one unit?
running low voltage along side high voltage wires? isnt this against code and arent you worried about rfi?
Very clean job and great video.
Can you please do a similar video where a Cybertruck is used as a home backup without PW3?
Thank you! We are patiently waiting for our Cybertruck, but you can guarantee we will be using it in a TON of videos when it's here!

sweet I'm in the Baltimore area and about to order 2.
NICE. We'll see you soon, then!
Fantastic job Bobby 😅
Not legal here, they need to be 36" apart. If I could mount them like that, I'd have three, LOL
can these be installed in a basement? Also are they lfp now, I see no actual confirmation of the chemistry anywhere.
Yes, Powerwall 3 can be installed in a basement!
Do powerwalls require an internet connection to work? I don’t have internet at my house.

@@BMWguy206thanks for the info. Sounds like it’s not an option for me then.
I wonder what the timeframes for Tesla solar systems are looking like these days

Okay, whatever you have nothing like the other power bank and you have one installed
Why is communication in the same entry point as AC voltage ? Lol
Unshielded CAT6 ran with 120/240VAC. Wow. 👎
