Very clean install. It looks like the PW3 is easier to install. We have PW2 and Tesla did our install and they were here for 2 days. And a number of additional connection units and boxes were necessary.
correct, we cannot install PW3 in front of PW3. PW2 was stackable and we can install few of them in front of each other (search for images: "powerwall 2 stackable"). Because all of the connection in PW3 under the front cover, we cannot cover it with another PW3.
I have only one conduit from the roof to one powerwall 3 and the 2nd power wall does not have anything connected to solar panels on the roof. Does it mean that solar panels are not evenly distributed between two pw3 units?
@@SolarEngineering thank you for the reply. There is a conduit between two PW3 units, but that goes to the left side of the 2nd PW. Maybe, I'll ask the installer tomorrow.
Was there any issues with PGE and/or the inspector with the installation of the Tesla backup switch. Specifically re: the gas meters proximity to meter and panel?
my solar company cheaped out and I didn't catch it in the contract. I'm having to wait for the DC expansion PW3. I have just the one PW3 with inverter at the moment. Nothing like waiting for a product that isn't out yet....
Question; will the Tesla power walls allow for an inverter to be installed to facilitate a whole house generator? I'm seeing that the power walls don't want to play with 3rd party inverters that would facilitate such a set up.
Thank you - do you have a link to purchase the Tesla microinverter for solar panels ? I’m looking at a ground mount install with third party solar panels
Will the Powerwall 3 work with AC Coupled solar panels? I have SolarEdge. Just want to see if the panels will still be able to charge the Powerwall in a grid down situation. I know some inverters can do this by using the frequency shifting.
I have 28 panels and 2 powerwall 3. Tesla made 4 strings (9, 9, 6, 4) and connected all 4 strings to one powerwall. Is it more efficient to have 2 strings on each powerwall (9+6) and (9+4)? How much efficiency am I losing with all strings connected to one Powerwall 3?
It's interesting that Tesla didn't follow the procedure in its own instruction material. th-cam.com/video/tAWt3WbSotY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZxYbmGAGmq-RfeGk&t=28 My contractor just installed 2 powerwall 3s, but only one PW is connected to the conduit coming down from the roof. Does it mean that the second PW does not get the direct dc-coupled feed from the solar panels and that I have to live with 5% efficiency loss ?
Hi, I’m getting 23 panels installed with 3 powerwall 3. I think right now it’s grouped as two strings 11 and 12 panels going to two powerwalls. Should I ask to do two 8 panels and one 7 panel each going to its own powerwall? They said it’s most efficient with it grouped to two strings. What are your thoughts?
Mannn I wish you were in Florida. Very clean install and great video.
appreciate your feedback

We have PW2 and Tesla did our install and they were here for 2 days. And a number of additional connection units and boxes were necessary.
Now, after years of development, Tesla Solar + Battery + EVtoGrid backup became most streamlined and efficient process. What with price comparison?
Tesla Powerwall 3 price is about %25 more than Sol-Ark 15k (inverter only, no batteries). Installation is much easier as well.
@SolarEngineering Stupid question but I thought Tesla Power wall 3 was not stackable?

Do you have conduit connecting two Powerwalls? Solar might go in this conduit

no issues, but it's on the edge of allowed clearance

I have two Powerwall 3, but with the inverter only connected in one.
Only thing is I would have put the disconnects side by side as I don’t think they are rated to have a knockout at the top of the disconnect.

no, as of now Tesla doesn't support generators.

Nice install as always. Link to RSD button and phase marker?

Great work love watching your videos - quick question - can you connect 2 Tesla gateway 3.0 in parallel ?
I don't have much experience with Gateway yet. I'm assuming you want to parallel them for 400A service?
Yes that’s correct - backup switch won’t work for 400A
@@willshakespeare38 haven't done yet..

yes will work, but need to install Tesla Gateway instead of a backup switch.
Very nice! Are you using PCS on these multi-Powerwall installs to avoid additional electrical work?
PW needs 60A breaker. So for 200A main panel PCS is needed

about 5% loss due to DC-AC-DC conversion

I thought you had to use a gateway if you’re installing more than one PW3. Has Tesla started to allow homeowners to install their products themselves?
Gateway not needed. Upto 4 powerwalls 3 can be installed as part of one system. Only Tesla certified installers can do install.
Isn't there supposed to be 3 ft clearance around each PW3?
Tesla has ul9540a certification which allows less than 3' clearance.

3 strings, one to each powerwall to charge dc to dc will be most efficient

As always awesome videos. can we use one RSD for 4 tesla powerwall batteries? Would love to check your video of 4 powerwall installation.
by RSD you mean emergency stop button?
If yes, then I only found a button that can fit max 3 contacts.
How do you guys comply with 705.12 in this setup, did you use PCS feature?
yes, powerwall + backup switch PCS certified
@@SolarEngineering So, PG&E approved it without proper PCS labels? Or you just indicated it like a note on the planset? Thanks!
@@Devlin-o5u there label attached to main panel, just didn't get on the video and planset has info about PCS as well.
What size is the MSP?
200A
Were these installers Tesla employees?
@@LordStevie no, it's cerified installers from Solar Engineering.
It looks like you guys work in the Bay Area? Can I ask for a quote :)

I thought the batteries had to be 3 feet apart...
depends on the AHJ.
Tesla has UL 9540 certification that allows to install less than 3', but some AHJ still require 3'
I'm not buying any powerwalls until they get vehicle to home working so I can use my Teslas battery to supplement the powerwall during blackouts.
Yeah that would be really good.
Yes, V2H is the way to go! Install a small P/Wall to hold the home till the car can be plugged into the P/Wall.
damn i was gonna watch the whole thing but then i saw a lb where you should have lr'd and i couldnt

How much does this setup cost?
$45k+
