    Thank you for the demo. There’s a lot of information to be analyzed and I’m learning. I have installed two powerwall 3 with a gateway 3, all are working beautifully and the app is most informative.

      Thank you for your comment! I'm so glad you have found the video useful. The Tesla app really complements the system well and it is good to just learn more about how you use your energy. Happy to hear your Powerwalls are working well!

    So glad I found your tutorial, it was concise, the production was easy to watch and the technical content was superb. Getting ready to add two PW3s to my existing Enphase PV system (31 panels producing 12.5 kWh). This is a marriage made in solar heaven. I was able to size our PV system to cover 125% of our annual consumption and that included our Tesla. We oversized to account for low production in winter, system degradation, and adding ESS. In addition to our 30% federal tax credit, my utility pays a CASH REBATE of $300 US for every kW of battery storage. So this made the decision even easier. Can't wait to become an "ISLAND", we will sleep better. Cheers from the US.

    This is a really EXCELLENT video - thank you & well done. I've 1 criticism & a question. At 16:40 you suggest that because there is grid export in the Summer a 2nd battery might be considered. I feel this is an over-simplification, for you will need a very, VERY big battery to avoid ALL export, and the bigger it is the less it will cycle and the more it will lose through self-discharge. Without cycling it will not be used enough to justify the initial outlay (and maybe the space too). Which leads to the comment: you didn't mention a feature to monitor the battery charge/discharge cycle count - or the NEED for it - in the App run-through: unless I missed it this is a MAJOR omission: it has a bearing on warranty and validates the battery-sizing calculation.

      Something else that manufacturers and installers skate over or ignore: the inverter efficiency curve and its implications. Broadly, the efficiency of ALL inverters falls off a cliff when operating at below 20% of rated capacity, and with a small array like your example or a larger one with significant shading, choosing of a large inverter such as the 11.5kW PW3 means the system will be at low power for FAR MORE of the time than is predicted by the (California-based) CEC-weighting formula that Tesla quotes. And therefore at low efficiency. When will this be at its worst? At high latitudes, and in Winter - just when you need it most. So why do no commentators focus on this and force manufacturers to publish?

      @@falfield Thank you for your comments, so glad you like the video. As an answer to your questions. The purpose of capturing more energy from solar is to either use it later in the day or export it when the price is higher. Exporting at a fixed rate is fine but if you can store it, and export to be paid more later that day, this is better. It is of course a payback analysis though.
      Powerwall 3's inverter is efficient all the way down to -20C. The cells are also maintained at a minimum temperature of 0C to maximise the output. It's the only battery designed to go outside.

    Very informative. I've just had a Powerwall 3 installed and I note that your demo, like mine, is still importing a low level of power even though there is charge in the battery. Also, in the morning, my microwave and kettle takes power from the grid even though there is available charge in the battery. I think the battery is a teenager and doesn't like getting up in the morning. The questions are currently with Tesla.

      Thank you for your comment, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Regarding the issue you are having, what tariff are you currently on?

      @@TheNaturalEnergyCompany I'm on Intelligent Octopus Go. The microwave and kettle go on after 07:30 and I've set the app to know that this is not the cheap period.

    Great video. Just asking for some advice, had a EV for a couple of years and just ordered a Powerwall 3 and Heat Pump. I’m currently on the EV tariff at 7p cheap rate for 6 hours with Octopus, I’ve been looking at the Cosy tariff with 3 cheaper rates. Can you charge the Powerwall at the 3 cheaper rates then discharge when it’s more costly?
    Thanks Ste

    • @TheNaturalEnergyCompany
      @TheNaturalEnergyCompany  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, once your new Powerwall is installed you can input the details of your tariff into your Tesla App with each of the different peak and off peak periods. Time-Based Control uses this tariff information to optimise how your Powerwall charges and discharges to lower the cost of energy consumption. This is often referred to as load shifting. Head over to our website www.thenaturalenergycompany.co.uk to read our latest blog on load shifting. Thanks!

    This is the best video ive seen on the app. my problem is although it estimates in pence so it must know im in the UK when i try to add my none Tesla car for using their super chargers when i fill in my details it asks for my state and zip code , i have set it to the UK but it still thinks im in the US , How can i set it up for UK ? many thanks .

      Thank you very much. We are so glad it is helpful. Regarding your question, I'm afraid you may have to contact Tesla directly for this. If it's showing as the incorrect currency it may be something to do with your account setup. Sorry I can't be of more help.

    Hey mate great video thanks for sharing. i still have a question. Is there any chance to set up a charging limit. I learnt its better for.the battery in terms of lifespan if it is not fully charged all the time. ☀️☀️

    • @gregpalmer9949
      @gregpalmer9949 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am another viewer. I do not think that is necessary with the Powerwall 3 chemistry.

    • @TheNaturalEnergyCompany
      @TheNaturalEnergyCompany  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Whilst this can be a common point with batteries, Powerwall will ensure it takes care of its own health and lifespan day to day. The aggregate throughput of the Powerwall is limited as per the warranty however it is unlikely you will go through this during the 10 year life span. I hope this helps!

      @gregpalmer9949 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was just listening to the Batteries included podcast and they had a battery scientist on. He said no matter what the chemistry is that you want to charge slowly and only be at a low or high charge state for short periods of time.

    I've just ordered pw3 and solar, being fitted in September. Am on intelligent octopus go, so thinking will charge battery through night at 7p then sell surplus of this plus solar generation back at 15p through day which is what octopus pay to export. Aim to get battery down to 10% by midnight, then go again. Have you looked into this option? Any thoughts?

    • @TheNaturalEnergyCompany
      @TheNaturalEnergyCompany  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      This is a good tactic but Powerwall 3 will take over for you, it's all automatic. You need to issue your buy and sell prices and it will do the rest for you based upon its machine learning algorithms. It will ensure you are getting the most out of the system. It's quite clever like that!

    • @lawrencegrace9916
      @lawrencegrace9916 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      FYI Octopus only pay 8p per kW export if you're on any kind of 'go' tarriff

    • @DUNCK14
      @DUNCK14 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just checked with octopus, thats correct for octopus go, but if you are on Intelligent Octopus Go then you can still sign up for 15p export rate
