A wonderful wonderful automobile, we whom have had the pleasure to own one knows:) I had the 2004 S80 T6 same color exterior, fully loaded black interior...I miss it!:( Although I would add as an advice to all my fellow enthusiasts, as we all probably like to keep it safe on the roads, while enjoying them, please next time choose a road without any massive trees on the sides lol! Since dodging any motorist/pedestrian could result in an catastrophic collision with those trunks..:/ (sorry for being too cautious fellows, don't wanna ruin a great and rare S80 clip!)
This seems to be one seriously fast car! 0-60 in 7.2. Seconds I read on the spec, with a whopping 272bhp, the down side is it only does somewhere around 17 miles to the gallon around town. I would love to drive one of these, they seem to be very rare here in the UK. I had a 2.4. Petrol one but only 140bhp I think unless it was the 185bhp one, i get mixed up between these and the S60 one's. I now have the S80 2.4 diesel, 163hp which is very fast too, and so comfortable.
Issue is the 4-speed tranny. Not the greatest. It is limited to 240 lb-ft in first and second. That can be removed with a tune, and power can be increased to approx 320HP...but I would only do that if you plan to do pulls in one gear without shifting and roll on the throttle.
@@phishphood423 Volvo should have bolted the 2.9 onto the 6 speed used with other engines like the 3.2 4.4l v8 and the 3.0 T in-line 6 engines it’s a solid transmission that can handle full throttle runs all day long without problems.
@@charlesrodriguez7984 Agreed! Just a length issue. The SI6 is super small for a 3.0 I6, pretty sure it’s not much larger than the T5 thanks to its timing chain and relocated serpentine belt (moved to the output shaft side through some wacky engineering). 2.8/2.9 on the other hand are the longest engines to ever be transverse mounted. The TF80-SC is an awesome gearbox and crazy small for a 6-speed but ultimately is still too big at least from my understanding.
Owner of an 03' S80 T6 Elite, all black, for a big heavy car it is surprisingly very fast, especially 50mph to 90mph ish. It just doesn't "feel fast".., but when the twin turbos kick in it becomes OMG effortless quick. Mine has all the same cool stuff, plus a mini fridge, built in 4 wine glass holder, umbrella holder, 3" of extra legroom, doors that open 90 degrees.., it basically is a Volvo Limo. It handles really well..., not as good as my 850 Turbo, but close enough. The ONLY thing that kinda sucks is the rear seats cannot fold down because of the fridge. Bought from original owner who pd. $64,000 in 2003. One of only 100 imported to USA for dealer "gifts". It is a VERY nice ride. Pd. $1500 with 172k. Looks rides as new. Gas mileage sucks city, but on highway 25 mpg.
Do you own the 6cyl 2.9tt ? Ive been hearing getting mixed reviews on it, however i found one with 131k miles & kept up maintenance its whole life, any thoughts ?
Beautiful S80, both in its first and second generation, it hurts that here in Uruguay is a very rare car, it came only by order and few units sold, even with their years of use, are still worth a good money, one in the same grade of conservation as the video, at least worth between about 18,000 to 20,000 USD. When they say that many cars in Europe or the US are expensive, it is because they have no idea about the taxes that are paid here on vehicles ... feel fortunate, you sell them cars at the price of "burned house".
Beautiful inside, the leather seats English style like Jaguar, Land Rover and Roll Royce love it and the middle wood line across the the driver and passenger, I have the chance to drive this car and is very confortable like Mercedes but the safety feature is the most Volvo standard priority in his cars.
I just bought one two months ago mines the exact same model the 05 t6 premier mine is a gold color but it don’t have the back up camera and the phone connect or rear heated seats or electronic rear window shade in it but I absolutely love the car it is rare to find them for sale but I love the sound of the engine and the radiator of the technology in these

Well as long as you stay up with the maintenance on it and the electronic issues the p2s have which can get expensive but if you can find a really good decent auto mechanic shop that really good mechanical works on volvos and knows how to work on volvos that won't cost you much as it does taking it to the dealer than yes it be a good daily driver or you can still buy it and store it in storage and get a Japanese daily driver til you got the money to the maintenance done on these cars which is easy to do @@DoubleGFinese
Yes camera was set too high and angle too wide. Perhaps the producer will modify it for any upcoming clips...still a wonderful drive, I personally felt as 'in front of the wheel' driving it (again)!;)
The S80 has a little more legroom in the rear compared with the S60, but even then it's awfully tight when the driver is a tall person. What was Volvo thinking? Sweden people are rather tall. Surprisingly, the V70 had 2-3" more rear legroom than the S60, and also had longer wheel base
I bought one yesterday. Lovely car. They call it "Carl Gustav's S-Class" - Very appropriate, if you ask me.
How you like it so far?
for how much?
Man, it's a perfect Volvo.. Love it! Thanks for the video :)
Thanks!
Just needs a cylinder taking off then it's perfect

Huh??
We didn't get the 2.9 in Sweden, as more people favoured the 2.5T or T6 trimlevel. The 2.9s you see in Sweden are most likely imported (:
