- We rarely feature Volvos on our channel, but this particular Volvo has a super interesting backstory! Enter the S80 V8! The engine is made by Yamaha, yes, the bike manufacturer & it is transversely mounted making it one of the very few cars in history to have that engine layout! Moreover, this engine has been seen in racecars, supercars & even boats! Yes, BOATS! Watch the video to find out more!

When Volvos were enthusiastic. These Volvos are the ultimate sleepers as the tailgate BMWs in Nurburgring.
You mean b4 they were ☭🇨🇳 billionaire oligarch Geely (that will always be weird oxymoron).
I have one I purchased last year. Added Becker Performance exhaust and wider tires and K & N air filter.
Solid in Desgin, power-packed in performance and luxury in Drive. These V8 models are gem! Keep them safe and maintened in new Forever❤
Yamaha is a good friend of Toyota too, remember the Lexus LFA ?
Also the 2JZ 👀
@@Ab-kj1fu that was a fully Toyota developed engine.
Ford SHO Taurus was Yamaha V6.
@@unowen-nh9ov That was the first generation SHO. The second generation SHO had a 60 degree V8.
The LIZARD at 5:48 😂
Back when volvo weren't "eco friendly"
What about now?
@@Supermonkey980 Ev crap because chinese dont know how to make engines. So this whole green crap narrative is being spread
Volvo always tried to be eco friendly. They marketed the low emissions of this V8 as much as the power.

Not developed by Yamaha. It is designed, engineered and developed by Volvo. Yamaha were contracted to build it, that is all.

Maintaining this car would be a nightmare
Not really, its quite reliable owing to engine being built in Japan. People in Europe & USA average around 300k Miles on the car before needing major maintenance. Parts are available plenty in UK, USA which can be ordered online & imported to India but are generally cheaper in cost than BMW, Merc or Audi.
3 years in at 160,000 miles and I bought it when it had 136,000 miles, and I've only had the usual maintenance repairs needed for a car that's 17 years old. I haven't been light on the pedal with it either, still a hell of a highway puller for it's weight. The AWD system will chew through front tires nearly annually though, I swear. Hasn't been any more or less of a hassle than most other modern used cars I've had.
My s80 v8 is at 251,xxx it’s leaking form the valve covers coolant hoses leak suspension is shot power steering return hose ruptured but it still runs and shifts perfect, she’s my project car but she still drives like it has 100,000 plenty power and life yet
Nope
I’ve had mine for 6 years. No issues as I’ve maintained properly throughout this ownership
If i had the money would buy this car
Facebook market place I got mine for 1500
