After testing BMW 1250 GSA, BMW 1250 GS, BMW K1600 GT, BMW R 1250 RT, KTM 1290 Super Adventure S and R, Ducati Multistrada V4S I went into a Honda dealer and paid for Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES DCT with full OEM alu luggage, all crashbars, fog lights, all the plastic winglets, rally foot pegs and I’ve also put Barkbusters on it. Took delivery at the end on June, and rode it for almost 13.000 km so far (8.000 miles). I love it. Best bike I ever had. I managed to fall three times on some light off-road (total off-road beginner here), I am on my third set of brake lever. I’ve replaced the OEM tires with Dunlop Trailmax and I am done with off-road until I get to practice with a smaller cc bike. This comment is all over the place, as I am speaking from my hearth, and the brain goes crazy. I love this bike, and I don’t see myself changing it before the next Adventure Sports comes along. It’s amazing for touring, for twisties (well, I don’t ride like a hooligan, and it’s not the best bike for riding fast twisties but it’s good enough, and it can get you in trouble with police/speed-cameras). With DCT and how high the bars and mirrors are it’s a surprisingly good city bike, it filters like a scooter. It’s perfect two up. It can carry ton of luggage. The ES has thousands of options one you go deep into it, it’s not just SOFT, MEDIUM and HARD like most believe. It can be modified in 25 different increments for both preload and rebound damping front, rear, you name it. You can dial it perfectly for any occasion. Eat a big lunch - increase the preload by 1 increment and you are good to go. Honestly, I would not change it for any other fully equipped new bike. It’s here to stay.
Excellent review. I bought the Adventure Sport DCT 2 months ago and love it. I never thought I would leave manual but now won’t go back - in city or dirt. In dirt the back brake is your clutch. Just amazing bike. Greetings and respect to all from Durango Mexico 🇲🇽
NICE! I appreciate longer, more in-depth reviews with all the necessary info, of course, but done in a way that give you a good feel of how the bike rides...I'll be checking for your other stuff. THANKS
I have the Adventure Sport ES manual on order, should be ready in 4 weeks to collect. (Dealer is busy with other bikes to get ready). I was told by the dealer the ES version will now only come DCT. Only ES manuals available are what is in the dealers all ready. Can't order ES manual from Honda anymore.
I’m sure you could tell from my review but I really did enjoy this manual version. I can see the pro’s for the DCT option off road, but on road I’d go manual everyday.
Nice review! how will you compare Honda ATAS 1100 in terms of travel comfort and touring capability - with the NT1100? Which of these motorcycles will be better for riding on asphalt for a 188 cm tall person?
ive also reviewed the NT1100 last year, the new AT for 23 and next week I am booked in for the NT1100 for 23. Going by last years bikes, the NT1100 had the DCT option which meant the ride was a little muted for me. I preferred the AT which had the standard gearbox/transmission in. Both are really good bikes, depends what you're going to be doing with it though. If no off road, then I would stick with the NT1100, I think for its price point and what you get with it (which includes the panniers) you can't beat it for ticking all the boxes it does. End of the day, are there better bikes out there, sure. But at the same price point? Id say it would be hard to beat it. But hay, that's just my 10pence, go get booked on a test ride and see which one you prefer the most. Enjoy which ever bike you choose.
Had the ATAS ES DCT for 12 Months and i can't fault it, so much easier to ride if you have wrist problems changing with a clutch lever. cruise control Brillant I just let the bike do the donkey work and the best apart about owning it, I don't have to take the wife on the back.😂😂
I wasn’t expecting to like this bike as much as i did. It really impressed me from start to finish, this would definitely be something id consider in the future.
I can maintain constant and steady speed with my right hand whilst using my left to activate the cruise control. When it’s on the right hand side I have to remove my hand of the throttle to activate the cruise control. We all know how quickly a bike can slow down without any input to the throttle. So to me this makes no sense as to why it’s on the right cluster.

It is definitely one of the best bikes I test rode during 2022. let's see what 2023 brings. Ride Safe.
How's it been so far? I'm strongly considering the exact same one. Is the alu luggage solid?

Glad you are loving your Africa twin. I defiantly see a place for it in my garage.
NICE!

I got the DCT because could not find the manual - I am sure the manual will be amazing for you! Safe riding, sir.

Worth the 4 months 😁
Great review mate :)
Thanks Craig. I’m currently editing the 23 model AT so keep an eye out for that and ride safe.

@@DSR1YT Thank You for help :)
@@jerzygroclinek5066 You're welcome.
Beautiful bike, great review! 👍👍👍Cheers!
Glad you liked the video. Recently released a review video on the 2023 model if you want to check that one out.
Nice job really enjoyed the review!
Thanks Antonios. Glad you enjoyed it. It’s nice to hear people enjoy the longer reviews on these bikes.

Cruise control on throttle hand makes plenty of sense to me. Have no trouble with mine 🤷🏽♂️
You must have bigger hands than me then 😁
@@DSR1YT Fair comment but how is moving it to the left hand cluster going to improve that issue?
