I get what is said about the reasons for not seeing people for free and what that might infer about how the counsellor or client see themselves or each other. But at the same time i am so grateful for the times i have been able to access help even while unable to pay or only able to pay a small amount. I believe i still valued and respected the counsellor and worked just as hard to do what was needed to take on board what the counsellor was doing with me.
Hi Amicus , thank you for pointing this out , I have now put a full description in (spelled correctly ) I hope you found the presentation useful. Regards Rory
There is an objective reality we share in the sense that you are both sharing the same sofa but our internal mental states and acquired experience and access to various structures are radically different
Harry, TH-cam video clips allow us a short space of time to cover subjects If you have some suggestions on what other types of assessments you would like to see, such as Genograms , Myer Briggs, script or CBT type assessments drop me a line, Bob and myself will see if we can accommodate you. As for your assertion that ‘we do not know what we are talking about’ I prefer not to dignify your statement with a response. Kind Regards Rory
This is really interesting from a client's perspective. I get the feeling that your videos are more directed towards the therapist, which is ok, but it is helpful for me, who started TA therapy in September, to understand what goes on during a session from a therapist's viewpoint. I think knowledge is key but it's having the wisdom to let it enritch the theraputic process, and not to let it interfere with building a relationship based on practise rather than theory. Thanks for the video(s)!!
Fantastic session, really enjoyed the discussion, being new and hopefully coming into counselling soon, how can you build up a network of other professionals to talk to to refer clients to when you are new to therapy. Do and will other professionals take you . Does it come down to the fact you can't get experience with a job and you can't get a job without experience.
Hi Simon The school you go to should help you network and meet others in your choice of career. My school, Hodges in Florida, is already helping us network and meet others. To start with, the others are our instructors. We will be working with them through graduation and they will help us with our internship. Oh, make sure your school is CACREP accredited.
Hi, Brand new to this field of study and coming into it from a business and IT background:-) Given that a person can experience any stimulus differently it seems like a very complex practice. How do you cope?
Wow, eight years on and still very helpful in regards to my journals!
Thanking you both very much 👍
