you have no idea how helpful your footage is! I like that you really show different lens at the same angle, and just stay there, without all these fancy so called "cinematic" shot that never really show the raw quality of the lens. Also the fact that you focus on human rather than some objects like car make make your footage really useful for comparison!
So far my conclusion is that, 1X is the best, and with good lighting, the 3X could be useful, there is a compromise to take if the lighting is not optimal then one need to choose if you want a lower quality close up (3X) or better quality but away shot (1X)

Glad it was helpful for you! Yeah I think in daylight the 3x was fine but kinda useless in low light!

    This is really incredible Arran.
In the right hands, the iPhone can be a reliable extra angle at weddings.

This is really beautiful footage and realistically, the iPhone could get the job done with the right lighting and expectations. Gotta love how far we've come.

Fascinating. Makes me think about production in a new way.

I've observed that the primary sensor delivers excellent sharpness, but the image quality tends to degrade when you switch to the telephoto lens. I've been contemplating the idea of getting the Beastgrip 1.7x lens, though I haven't really started my search for it yet. My ideal choice would be a 35mm lens, but, of course, you can achieve a similar field of view using the default "lens." The catch is that it involves cropping the image, which isn't always my preferred method.

    A great video👍, .... but the 21:9 format for TV and Computer is terrible👎. I don´t like 21:9!

Great Video. Is this ProRes 422 codec? And did you record with Blackmagic camera app?

The 77mm footage appears to be a digital vs. optical zoom. Other than that, this was amazing footage. I was especially impressed with the latitude on the interior bus scenes.

It was definitely optical - the exif data confirmed it was the 77mm telephoto lens. But yeah, the main sensor is great!

@@ArranKenny the footage seems way too grainy for the optical 3x lens and blurred (looks very much like digital zoom). I've been testing mine and results were pretty good unless in very extreme conditions. Maybe due to less light?

Camera manufacturers better open their eyes.
