    Hey MSM! I hadn't ran a bigger RC then my Traxxas UDR, but I bought a RC collection and there was a Redcat Rampage Chimera Sandrail EP Pro in the collection a 1/5 scale electric had no idea the size when they say "Coke Can" motor they're not kidding! So in bought some batteries for it 2 3S lipos and like you say it just glides over the ground so fun! I picked up a XMaxx that a guy went through and changed all the shocks and wheels and tires dust cover on it and 2 4S batteries of brand 9000s 100c and a bunch of extra body and parts and a full set of paddle wheels and tires and never even driven or powered up! I'm liking the 1/5 platform the truck is so Awesome and got a great deal on it all too!😯😉👍👋👋👋✔️💯

    Actually nicked mine up yesterday and ya you said it it's a beast. Like you I am just running it on 6s for now and still fun. Just have to save up the next $400 for the dual 4s lipo and dual charger combo for once in awhile faster field runs. This is my trophy lol. Started last year with the rustler 4x4 and upgraded everything, then 2 slash, a Hoss, Notorious 6s, typhon 3sblx and now the big boy. In that order. Time to work on my grandsons COLLECTION now. 👍

    I ran 2 new Traxxas 5000mah 3s batteries on my X-Maxx with Leopard BL-5 ESC and they puffed first run... Will only run that truck on 8s from now on. If you’re concerned about taxing the drivetrain, you can just reduce the throttle endpoint to like 75% or something like that. I’d be more worried about those 3s lipo’s than the truck. When Traxxas converted the X-Maxx from 6s to 8s they redesigned the diffs and everything to handle the increased power output. But I get it, I’m more like you than like other RC guys. I prefer to take care of my things versus “sending them to the moon”.

    Hey mark really quick question for you . I have a Jato 3.3 , yesterday I got maybe 20 mins of run time . It’s shut off on me nothing new to me . Put it on my bump box to start it . And my fly weel and trains gears are locked up . As in they won’t turn as easy and freely as the did before . It actually takes a bit of force to turn them with my finger . Any idea what might cause this ?? I do all of my body mods and fixes but have never got into the motor of trains gearing .

    sweet it can run on 2x 3s batterys! i'm sold! its only 10mph faster on 8s then 6s? wow now i won't have to buy 2x 4s batterys and 4s charger for $400. I already have 3s charger and 1x 3s battery. So I'll just need 1 more 3s battery to run the xmaxx. :D plus more 3s battery works out for me because I already have hoss and drag slash that use those battery. win win. thanks mark! you the best!

  • @KA0S-247
    @KA0S-247 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think you will only see the TRUE difference with the 8s when you gear it up... more power to work the higher teeth count possibly?
    the floating is most likely due to the tyres ballooning up at higher speeds... less surface contact... sure if you changed them to the higher spec ones it may not float?
    Any chance you could test these theories :)

    • @lunchbox3434
      @lunchbox3434 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Todd_G_FPV cameras never do justice that is for sure! It is much bigger than my 2wd slash. Im not thinking about the weight to power ratio. My 2wd does 45 on 3s. So twice the size twice the power for the same speeds. I bet on 8s with gearing it would be a wheelie monster.

    • @rustybogans2508
      @rustybogans2508 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Todd_G_FPV
      @Todd_G_FPV 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even know its a higher speed ratio it actually seems to pick up acceleration better to me. I used it for all around driving... Bashing speed runs, jumping was better too because you could actually get the front to come back up im the air unlike the stock gearing

    I have the Maxx and Xmaxx. I bought the Maxx thinking it was a mini Xmaxx. I was so wrong. Dont get me wrong- Theyre both great bashers, but the handling is really different. First off, you want the Widemaxx kit if you go for the Maxx. It rolls over really easily, whereas the Xmaxx is planted well unless you're heavy on the throttle or youre doing double snaprolls. Anyway, go with the 6S with the Xmaxx. Its a basher and not geared for high speed runs anyway. 6S is plenty powerful anyway.

    Ive never ran mine on anything other than 8s. Its been on 8s from day one and i also put the 46 tooth spur and 23 tooth pinion and got 70 MPH before it floated out and was uncontrollable. I run 8s and the stock pinion with the 46 tooth spur and i find that it likes that best. Cools temps no breakage. I also have all the upgrades from Traxxas for it. The telemetry system and GPS and all the sensors. Getting %50 off all the parts since i work for a Traxxas dealer is nice. Thats the other way i could get all those parts lol

      @Chris D'oulmeth the 18/46 works great and keeps thr motor cool enuf on 8s. Ive not tried the 22/46. I would just say keep and eye on temps and if it stays cool the run it. More speed and wheelie power is always better 😆 I couldnt rin the 23/46 but for a couple speed runs because it would get hot.

    I still have a first generation 6s Xmaxx, I built up the diffs and Hot Racing slipper set and bunch of other HR stuff and I like the 6s is more then enough, I'm not a big jump kinda guy , trying to jump houses and cars crap. I've been doing RC for over 30years and it's just never been my thing. One of my most fun trucks is my Team Associated MGT with .28 Big block. Honestly a better basher, all around truck then the Xmaxx.

    • @metoo3918
      @metoo3918 ปีที่แล้ว

      5000mah with 25C discharge can only handle 125A (5000x25÷1000). The 6700mah can handle 167.5A. Voltage is not a consideration. So if you want even more speed get areputable 5000mah 70C 4S packs. Even if you really cant get 70C out of it you can definately get more than half that wou which will be good for 175A with less weight than the Traxxas 6700 25C. You have to pay attention tho. The higher the capacity, the more it weighs. Also, the higher the output C rating, the heavier the cell. If you see a really high C on a light battery, the C rating is a lie.

    I recently bought one and bought the traxxas 6700 4s batteries to go with. Maybe the tyres are best for grass as I got almost 48 miles an hour stock out of the box on flat ground with the front end lofting in the air all the way! Grass about 2 inch tall and 77km/h here in oz but either way man it’s got some zip. It does have the latest programming from traxxas if that matters..

    I’m buying a brand new Xmaxx in a day or so. I guess whenever I get a chance to
    get to the local hobby store. $899.99 doesn’t seem bad at all! And I’m gonna run 6S too, gonna use this as an only RC to play with my kids with, and have something to do in the yard. I am very familiar with Nitro, and brushless RC’s and usually high cell count lipo always finds the weakest link! Your pushing your luck on 8S with ripping tires, and breaking something. But maybe not! I have been out of the RC world for a couple years now. Maybe the Xmaxx is a good truck? I dunno. I guess we’ll have to find out! But I think 6S will be 100% reliable long term on a Xmaxx 8S model.
