I was truly amazed at how hard they fight in relation to their size. It was a different feel. Bass thrash around. Feels like it's thumping back and forth. The catfish felt like they were just straight running and pulling! It was pretty cool. I may try so dedicated catfishing days in the river!

You can buy long needles with a loop on the end, hook the line and pull it through the length of the hotdog and then tie on a hook with a stopper and your set
Good video. If you want those hot dogs to stay on a hook, wrap em in a piece of panty hose. That will keep chicken liver, dough bait, and just about anything on your hook. Also, if you leave your hot dogs in the pack, out in the sun for about 3 days, they’ll swell up and get good and funky. The stench will attract the catfish better.

I definitely did not know that. I've only ever used artificial lures for bass. And I've even caught catfish on artificial lures. The first time I use hot dogs I never expected to catch bass but it was all I caught. This past time I thought would be no different but I caught mostly cats lol you never get to choose what's going to bite on the other end of the line!
@@GNRF_GripnNRipnFishn when we go camping we catch bass and cats on hotdogs and bluegill on diced hotdog chunks, versatile bait if you can keep it on the hook, which curing in salt does help a lot
Ohhhh okay that's a great tip. I was using a hot dog made of pork and chicken. I've also read that the cheaper hot dogs have more preservatives and therefore give off more scent making them more attractive. I don't know how much truth there is to that but it seemed to work both times I went
@@GNRF_GripnNRipnFishn put them in a bag of salt for a day or two. They will get rubbery and stay on the hook much better. Also, some people zoak their hotdogs or even cook them in cherry jello or kool aid before curing, seems to really attract the cats

What type of hooks do you use ?
I use small circle hooks when throwing out the hotdogs, minnows, cut bait. If I'm fishing for bass, I typically use an EWG hook or Gamagatsu weedless worm hook for wacky rigs. For flukes/soft jerkbaits I like a weight swimbait hook.
