I'm a member of the *Second Half of Your Comment* club . I both concur and object to the first; I too expected this to be simple, but the inefficient shenanigans I was doing before breaking down and asking for directions (and ending up here) was like.. _you-and-your-best-friends-fiancé-secretly-fall-in-love_ type of complicated. It *_can_* be worse _I've done it!_
Hey there, I really like your channel! There is a way easier way to do this : Bisect :::> press "v" ( rip vertices ) :::> There are now 2 separated geo which you can select by pressing L.
This is a nice trick, you could do it with no rotation needed like: After bisect, you could hide vertex (H) then with "L" over the halves you select all faces conected. Then unhide and grow/shrink selection as needed to get the half model. You now can separate (P) and close the holes wif "F". Also instead of bisect (which seams a bit laggy) you could use knife cut "K" (activating cut trhough and straight which are "Z" and "C" on 2.9, this shortcut is changing on 3.0 I belive).
After hours, this solved my issue. Something I found: Bisect is now in the "Knife" menu as of blender 3.5. There's also a nice option to delete everything outside of the selection and fill.
@@Zeallieeven with that blender is shit bisect command does not even work now does not show up with shift 8 and is not on the side pretty sure they replaced it with knife which has separate rules
Hold knife, and bisect is there. Its like the pencil and brush tools on photoshop, its hidden. Thia guy forgot to mention he added Shift+8 to his shortcuts. @Media__Pirate
Hey blender how about select and delete area ( two steps not 54) ? I know you want to keep both parts but then you could make a copy and delete different selections in each then recombine in new file (four steps)
Bisect was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! But after that I would have made the selection by creating a seam and then used Ctrl+L to pick only one side. But like you said, there are many ways to do that! : )
i owuld like that this tutorials explain what the tools do, not just run thru the process. i have no idea what your doing, i can follow an do it, but this is hardly a learning experience at least for me
Is there some reason you couldn't just use "Select linked vertices", the keyboard shortcut for which is L, on the head once you used the knife tool to bisect?
Its great when you are so good that you know the short cuts...but when your tutorial is just directing with shortcuts, then we learn nothing. What is shift+8 because that does nothing for me. On to a different tutorial that explains things better.
If this is the easy way to cut stuff in Blender then they need to work and rethink how this works LOL Just give us simple cut option besides all those others FFS!!!

can this be done by knife tool instead of bisect?
When even the simplest task is so complcicated... I think I'm going to need a *lot* of tutorials and practice.
Thanks!

this is why I hate blender. C4D is so much more intuitive. Blender takes the most ridiculous amount of steps for the simplest action. I am sick of it.

Quick question to that: Is the bisect function different from the knife tool with "cut through" enabled?
@@jonathanschalck7224 Hi there, I do believe they are actually the same?
oooh this was a huge additional help, thank you!
Bruh that comment was more useful than the video

discord?
Shifr+8 does nothing I think you may have the wrong key commands there is also no bisect option with the knife
same
@@spencerparkes-qd2ev I found a much better video for doing this

Shift-8 does not bring up a menu as said in @0:21
Same
Same here
I would just mark a seam on the cut edge. And then just ctr+L to select the area and then separate.

I still can't find it💀😭
I have never seen a tool more complicated than blender. Its just horrible
Agreed
you just need muscle memory and good remembering

Congrats for 100k🎉🎉
shift 8 doesnt do anything :(
Yeah, shift + 8 isn't doing anything
On the left side click and hold the “knife” tool and you should see bisect pop up
Please make more simulation videos 🥺🥺
Also congrats for 100K 🎉🎉🎉
Plan to do that after my exams :)

i dont get that menu pop up at 1:51 for the select axis box
SHIFT+8 in edit mode with everything selected does nothing for me
Great video, super helpful!!
My tab doest work any other way to get rid of the knife?
nice BUT! - How to do perfect joint separate different objects to each other? 😄
Thank you Olav3d for video)
Pauvre petit Napolean!
Also, many congrats on reaching 100K subs!
How would you cut trough a rigged object ?
So the bisect option just... isnt there, for me?
Love your example! Awf with his head!
Is ti possible to use an already drawn spline for this? I would like to use a grid pattern to chop a mesh in blocks that fit the grid.
Can you teach us how to make sword trail
Thank you, the only tutorial that worked
how do i stop the knife tool
its stuck on the knife tool!!! i dont know how to make it not be a knife, i cant click on anyhing it just makes more and more cuts!!

Bro, that model. What kind of PC do you have?
Since I was looking to swap some heads, this is exactly a start. to my personal project.
My brother ...you growing...
It's beautiful someone shares his/her knowledge ..
Good tutorials. Thanks.
My Bisect tool just cuts a line instead of a mesh part. Can this issue be solved?
hmm, so I have to go through all these steps to cut a cylinder in half???!!
Just use loop cut
Thank you brother !!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
i even dont want to do this after watching this so complicated
could i use this same method to cut up a helmet to fit my 3d printer?

I cant select the whole edge loop, how do I do that?
Thanks, really helpful!
Litterally nothing is the same for me it’s like a different sowftware entirely
Thank you.
Just use a Boolean lot easier
Shift + 8 is doing nothing for me. It just does nothing.

omg it should be 100 times easier -.-'
bisect isnt even an option
I'm still in knife cutting everything....
What about me? Pompey!!

LOL. This is ridiculously complex to just cut a model.... wow.

Oh ma aris total

are you for real! 4 minutes to make a cut, it should take one second! what is wrong with blender?
way too many steps, this is not good software.
