  • WELCOME TO MYANMAR!
    Come with us as we travel through Myanmar (aka Burma) visiting Hpa An, Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan, and Hsipaw.
    In this episode, we hitchhike from Yangon to Mandalay eventually getting to Bagan. Bagan is known for the abundant amount of ancient pagodas, temples, and monasteries. Most of this episode takes place in Bagan where we spend a few days exploring these ancient structures.
    This is the first episode on my channel, but it's the 3rd episode of a 4-part series. You can find Ep 1 and 2 are on The Budgeteers channel: / thebudgeteers

      great job on this steve, i've watched the budgeteers other series and you did a great job with this. definitely up to the standard set by paddy et al. one thing is you don't really need to include comments like "goldie takes it in the butt." that isn't really funny. i'm not offended by it, it just isn't funny
      overall excellent work, particularly on the intro! the drone work is a great addition. can't even have too many drone shots

    The guy 6:17 was saying there will be a spilt road ahead and I think he's worry that you guys could be going different road as him and he didn't want to drop you guys off in the middle. This is probably one of the greatest Myanmar travel vlog yet. You guys were entertaining and respectful. Can't wait for more vlogs. Next time if you guys will ever come back to Myanmar, you should go check out Mergui Archipelago.

    All around great editing and also a great example of how you can use lots of good drone footage without ending up with one of those "visual drone porn" travel videos where it's all about fly over here, zoom in over there but without any action, heart and soul. You got the perfect balance of entertainment, practical info and visual stimulation!
    Can't wait for the next episode.

    • @SteveYalo
      @SteveYalo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!! Yea, I've seen way too many videos where the drone is the majority of the footage and I can't stand that haha just using it to establish location is pretty much all it's necessary for. Anything more than that just feels a bit excessive. Really appreciate the positive feedback. Same time and place next week for the final episode ;)

    This video is such an eye opener. i wanted to go to Burma (Myanmar) mainly because her close ties with India in the past , but always felt that if it's safe or not ,mainly with all the negative news you get to hear but u guys being westerner's are able to enjoy so much i surely will like to try myself . I will like to enter from the India side into the country , then go south. thanks for sharing this lovely video .oh! forgot to mention, the drone shots are epic.

    haha god Bagan is such an amazing place. Where I drove an e-bike for the first time, crashed it 3 days later and then refused to get back on and made a burmese man come and drive it back for me. The most diva thing I have ever ever done in 8 years of travel. To be fair he did own the bike and did nearly crash it again on the way back into town. It was a piece of crap. I spent 4 days getting completely and utterly lost in Bagan with people I met there and it was so incredible. I was told a lot of the buildings were locked not only because of the earthquake but also because there is a 'key person' for each temple and generally one family will have control of one temple, so if you find the right person, you can go up even if it is kind of dangerous.

    Great work guys! Steve, your edit is very good. A good mix of you guys doing your thing + narration + drone shots + music. The narrative flows pretty well and kept me wanting to watch more. By the way all those pagodas in Bagan are incredible and the view on the train ride in the next episode at 20:43 looks ridiculous.

      Thanks David! Yea, the pagodas in bagan are incredible! And the train ride in the next episode is so cool. We pass over the highest bridge in Myanmar and when it was completed, it was actually the largest railway trestle in the world!

      Thanks Will! You should try and get out there. It's an incredible country and I predict that since more and more people are learning about how incredible it is, thr tourism industry will saturate it immensely within the next 10 years. The borders have only been open to Western tourists for about 6 or 7 years now, so it still has a unique "untouched" feel compared to some other countries in SE Asia.

    Amazing job! It's rare that I want to visit a place I have never been or thought of traveling to before because I am inspired by a travel vlog. Happy to add Myanmar to my list of places to go. I love it that all the visitors interviewed were most impressed by the people and how caring they are to strangers. That was definitely evident in the many who stopped on the side of the road to offer a ride. Love your channel and your positive attitude. Keep up the good work.

    8 hours in the back of a car.....about the same on a train....plus all the troubles in between......home sweet home !!

      People are strange and maybe what 's strange about me is not finding any fun in doing something outside my country, i don.t already enjoy doing at home.

    • @SteveYalo
      @SteveYalo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry to hear that - I'm all about meeting new people and strange experiences are the BEST part of travel. Getting outside your comfort zone makes you learn a lot.

    • @mathieutallard6328
      @mathieutallard6328 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeap, i am honest, all my travels haven't been as great as expected and it takes a lot of efforts to get me away from my comfort zone from now on. I do agree with meeting people and living fun things is the best part of travel BUT not by stearing at a bus or train window fpr hours or on foot. Many rent a moto, i bring mine and wouldn't travel without it. I love to drive and by no way, i would travel sitting for hours on a bus or a car or a train. Its a big NO for me. But driving myself, stopping when ever and where ever i want , thats a fun way of traveling. The only one for me.

    • @mathieutallard6328
      @mathieutallard6328 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      And even if i like to drive, outside my comfort zone, i need to find directions, need to find a room, need to deal with dogs barking at sleep time or cleaning lady waking me up, need to find food, need to find girls and entertainements, need to watch for traffic, need to deal with rain, need to be carefull with luggages etc....Yeah, home sweet home !! Traveling ain't all fun.....Have to be very cold and very bored at home to find some fun and motivation in the idea of leaving comfort zone. The rewards rarely compensate the troubles.

    Lol, I remember getting lost with my 50-something year old mother in Bagan. Our motorbikes broke down in what seemed like the middle of nowhere. I left my mom under a shade tree with the last of our water and used my iPhone to drop pins on the map to leave a breadcrumb trail. Turns out we were less than a kilometer from the main road. That was the last time I drove an electric motorbike.

      HAHA! That sounds like a typical experience for Bagan. May have been a shit experience for you at the time, but at least it's a memorable one haha ;) Thanks for watching - hope you enjoyed!

    Hi there, could you please share with us the process that you had to go through in getting the permit to bring in/fly the drone? I'm planning to go there next year and I just realized that I'd actually need a permit to bring in/fly the drone.
    Amazing videos by the way!
    Thank you
