@@mithril5155 I think its a combination of rewrites, trauma, fear, etc. She retains her personality, but it adjusts to the life she lives as compared to canon alphys. Very different lifes, same character deep down.
A neat thing I noticed: Papyrus is the only character who seems actually scared/worried for Cross when he appears back to save XGaster. Another thing: his face is the only one that is not covered when Cross uses his gaster blaster attack to kill them.
I think because Cross hates what Frisk/Chara is doing. He doesn’t like any of what’s going on, but him perhaps not understanding what XGaster is doing or him just hating Frisk/Chara that much for the way their treating the situation makes him decide XGaster is the lesser evil. He just wants a normal universe, he doesn’t care about good and evil. He just wants it to stop. At least that’s the way I see it

Most heartfelt moment of Underverse/Xtale, if not of modern animation. In stories, hero's gambles and risks always pay off because of rules of genre Cross was so real in this moment, sitting there devastated as he risked and miscalculated, ended up losing everyone he knew. Just like everyone of us at least once (but likely much more times) grossly miscalculated in our lives and has to live with it, through everything that followed
While everybody discussing about the episode can we have some moment paying attention to our talented Jael. Underverse since the day it released already very successful and the series is completed flawlessly. But when Jael decided to develop the prequel I was amazed because her imagination is impressive, this universe already successfully being developed and she could still have ideas for more and at this point when she completed the prequel it still match perfectly with the story line without any mistake. Not to mention there is still another sequel she is planning to do. How could she comes up with all these stuff? Future awaits, but right now Jael, you may take a break, you are awesome.

When ink first said Cross came from a genocide timeline, we all assumed Chara was the one to do it. I didn't expect sans to be the one who killed everyone

The comic gives a lot more context and history to the things, not to mention it even shows that his tears are blood, or that Cross is a failed try of an X-Event. However, the animation goes for another POV, one...more personal for XGaster and XFrisk/XChara.

I think i understand now. I don't know if people didn't realize, but after binge-watching all as a second time, when gaster stopped sans from saving frisk from the tree was because for a second they saw the future that he wanted vanish from his eyes. And Chara/Frisk/X-event couldn't see despite having half of his soul. What X!Gaster wants is to feel that strage feeling of tranquility that he felt in the glimpse of his future, but i don't think that gaster knows what will happen in the future. He knows about the feeling of tranquility, and that is all that he knows about the future. *Pheraps he believes that that tranquility is from obtaining the perfect creation, but maybe its the tranquility of something else.*
I absolutely love how Alphys has been a hidden PoV character throughout this entire story despite being a side character in the games. Her along with Sans understands the meta narrative going on around them is a very nice take. *NOTE* I do not know whether Alphys was self-aware in Undertale proper but I'd like to think there were hints. if so this story is a fantastic expansion on that idea; if not, then this story is fantastic for taking that narrative path and choice.

I've rewatched all of Xtale and Underverse, and even if I have been following these series for many years, I've just realized how much of a well done story it is. Jakei, you don't know how much of an inspiration you are to me, and to many people. I love you :')
The fact that I already read this part of the comic before seeing this made it so much worse because I KNEW what was coming. I started crying after like ten minutes and I haven't stopped until the end. After two and a half years I'm still here and it gets better and better, always so magnificent I can't express it. Thank you Jael, you created one of the best things in this fandom and I'm so grateful you're here.
We should just give X!Gaster a "Dad Of The Year" award already, I mean look at him being such a good role model, terrorizing his kids into doing what he wants and punishing them horribly when they fail or try to rebel. Top-notch parenting right there 👌👌

This episode was so sad, and so dark. The twisted things Frisk did to end their own existence, the influence of Chara causing them to do those things, the plummet in their mental state as they started to become more and more manipulative was heart breaking. Then they even went as far as to give them their painful memories back, so much so they would enact revenge on Gaster. Sans was the only one who stood in the way, and even papyrus, was so thirsty for that vengeance that he would've killed his own brother and moments later Sans did the same. I'm not gonna lie this is one of the saddest undertale related animations I've ever seen. It was beautifully animated and I just want to say you're doing great Jael! We love your work!
Well, the Comic that was shown in the beginning shows Sans perspective and uhm... Lets just say, Sans survived Papyrus Gasterblasterstorm outside because he used some bones to protect himself and the kid (everyone not saved by Sans' "bonewall" died, it was just a huge mess outside) and in the fight against everyone he killed everyone except Papyrus but then Papyrus was like:"Heyy, give up, it will be better for everyone" and then Sans was like "Fuc kyou". Just read the f-ing comic, its in the description linked.
hailster05 comic made it much more sad after seeing all these animations. Sans is more conflicted to kill anyone. Papyrus kills everyone cause the whole world will be rewritten. Everyone except sans is on board.
My god everything is coming full circle. Now Cross’s motives are just crystal clear. Imagine killing everyone you’ve loved for the sake of a better future than then that not even working, the image is horrific in every way possible i cant begin to imagine how broken Cross is now.
I’m still confused. Why would cross kill everyone to have a better future if killing gaster would have let them live happily? Chara even told cross sans that they would live happier without gaster. Why would he perform a genocide if he could just let chara get rid of gaster and create a happier universe?
@@jenssenvelasquez9811 Chara/Frisk would've been the one in control of the universe then, and seeing that Chara/Frisk had recently used, attacked, and turned everyone against him, he didn't want that. He decided to take matters into his own hands, and claim the Overwrite button for himself. His plan was to do genocide, get the Overwrite button, then bring everyone back and create a happy universe. He wanted to do the same thing as Chara/Frisk (creating a happy universe), but he didnt trust Chara/Frisk so he decided to do it himself. Unfortunately, his plan fell apart when he realised that a monster soul cant operate the Overwrite button, so he couldn't bring back all his friends as he'd planned. Guilt and mental breakdown ensues.
Im just mad, if Cross ever knew what Chara and Frisk had to go through im sure he wouldn't have ruined everything, Yes Chara and Frisk did a lot of horrible things to him just to verify Gaster's status, but they still wouldn't have remade the whole universe over 10 times, make everyone forget you and even hate you more everytime the universe was overwritten.
It's actually because Cross's magic doesn't affect Papyrus, probably because they are brothers, if Papyrus wasn't immune, his SOUL would've certainly turned blue

My god, this, it all makes sence now. Sans after seeing the Overwrite take place so many times, he had come up with a plan that almost worked, he would take Frisk/Chara's soul, and redo everything, remake all of it, have a world made by nither Frisk, Chara, Or XGaster a world, like the rest, with peace. But he never seen how the soul merging wouldn't work, and as for the ending of season 1, it explains why XGaster gave him another chance, he played his roll in the plan, and XGaster won because of it. Thank you Jael for one of the best Storys, and Animations ever, take a looooooooooong break, you need and deserve it.
It's quite simple for Cross. The others might seek revenge because of the repeated tragedy, but he thinks everything will be fine if nobody resets or overwrites the whole situation. He's like "We don't need a perfect life, we can just live on." but nobody was on his side, and killed him. (At least they thought so) Because he was betrayed he just made the act of taking control and overwriting the whole situation- but it failed....
TheKirinDP He killed his brother the comics confirm it, the reason his soul isn’t glowing is because he wasn’t planing to kill papyrus but after the fight he decided he couldn’t trust him anymore and One Shoted him
Sans is literally like any other Sans, but what seems to make him different is his ability to make decisions that benefit Gaster. He absorbed the human soul to stop the madness they were enduring, which made it to where the human (Chara) could no longer use Overwrite. That was a good thing, but it was mostly a bad thing seeing as Sans (Cross) is now stuck as this vessel for Chara. Since monster souls can't use the ability to Overwrite, or pretty much any ability to manipulate the timeline, he can't fix anything that has happened. He's stuck. This isn't just a story on the creation of X-Tale, this is a story on how Sans became Cross, and how he now has the option to fix his mistakes and set everything as right as it'll go.
@@c4tfsh8 He is wrong. The X-event part of the soul is programmed not to work with monster souls. The rest that XGaster owns, is able to use the Overwrite button. You'd understand if you read the comic which explains EVERYTHING.
Cross was an idiot, he ruined their plan. They just needed to kill XGaster to finally deal with the only remaining issue. He thought he could take the humans soul kill them all and then overwrite and be the one in control, but aparently monsters can’t overwrite so now chara the only survivor of the event, frisk now being dead from xsans, has the power and xsans can never use it, in underverse when cross dies, it’s xcharas chance their last chance. They just need the other half of xgasters soul to fix their world. Especially since they gathered assets beforehand
This shit is actually sad. Its so twisted and dark, sad and tragic. They lost their mind trying to do the right then, and soon they couldn't handle it at all and then became the thing they hates the most. I cant blame them either, any one would go insane because of that.
X!Gaster, kids, and Cross, three sides every of them has good intentions to some degree every of them bring so much pain and death trying to accomplish that None of them is "ahaha im evil man", Gaster behaved like usual artist with its creations (and since they are sentient - like god with people he created), Frisk and Chara wanted to stop his perfectionism while Cross wanted to stop people from fighting for the overwrite button (and then he tried to rebuild his universe) Its such a wonderful story where conflict is driven without plain "evil for the sake of evil" sides

The problem with Ink is that he has no feelings. He doesn't care about his creations and the creators of AUs. He lost all his motivtions without us giving him.colors to make him feel something. Which is pretty sad how fucked up "evil" Ink is. Error was right to destroy all the AUs. Only Core Frisk is the only sane entity.
The thing about core Frisk is that they do not possess the ability to change the timeline any more. They have tamper with the original so much that they are only an entity that can take survivors of genocide runs to the void
XGaster predicted that this would have happen, XFrisk and XChara think that they can manipulate and overwrite everyone but at the end, they were the ones that were manipulated by Gaster
Christ, XGaster ruined Frisk and Chara's lives something awful... And then that passed down to Cross when he tried to fix things, thinking he'd have the power to undo the damage afterwards... I can't imagine the residents of Undertale Classic are in for any sort of good time now that XGaster and everyone else from Xtale sans Cross are about to make their move. Lot of mistakes and irresponsibility led us here, and I'm honestly not sure how they prevail against the machinations of a god...
Kinda true but there's no justification for experiment to wreak havoc though the whole timeline , hurting cross only to be a rebelious kid trying to provoke xgaster that made the biggest sacrifice for the Perfect world Kinda hard to point a villain cuz both chara and xgaster made a fucking mess and cross have been between them so he paid the biggest prize . Its more like xgaster , the nice guy descending into madness through the quest for Perfection when chara is filled with 100% revenge for xgaster. Dont forget revenge and bloodlust was the opposite of what undyne taught chara in the episode V
25:14 i just realized the scene with papyrus is really REALLY sad, in his timeline he told them "please dont give us real feelings" (which im assuming when the X-periment reset the timeline they really did get rid of the monsters real feelings) meaning when papyrus remembered he now no longer has real feelings, and him looking in the mirror with that solem expression is like, him confronting an emotionless husk of what he once was or maybe he just had a long day idk

I think i understand now. I don't know if people didn't realize, but after binge-watching all as a second time, when gaster stopped sans from saving frisk from the tree was because for a second they saw the future that he wanted vanish from his eyes. And Chara/Frisk/X-event couldn't see despite having half of his soul.
What X!Gaster wants is to feel that strage feeling of tranquility that he felt in the glimpse of his future, but i don't think that gaster knows what will happen in the future. He knows about the feeling of tranquility, and that is all that he knows about the future. *Pheraps he believes that that tranquility is from obtaining the perfect creation, but maybe its the tranquility of something else.*

I absolutely love how Alphys has been a hidden PoV character throughout this entire story despite being a side character in the games. Her along with Sans understands the meta narrative going on around them is a very nice take.
*NOTE* I do not know whether Alphys was self-aware in Undertale proper but I'd like to think there were hints. if so this story is a fantastic expansion on that idea; if not, then this story is fantastic for taking that narrative path and choice.

This episode was so sad, and so dark. The twisted things Frisk did to end their own existence, the influence of Chara causing them to do those things, the plummet in their mental state as they started to become more and more manipulative was heart breaking. Then they even went as far as to give them their painful memories back, so much so they would enact revenge on Gaster. Sans was the only one who stood in the way, and even papyrus, was so thirsty for that vengeance that he would've killed his own brother and moments later Sans did the same. I'm not gonna lie this is one of the saddest undertale related animations I've ever seen. It was beautifully animated and I just want to say you're doing great Jael! We love your work!
Well, the Comic that was shown in the beginning shows Sans perspective and uhm...
Lets just say, Sans survived Papyrus Gasterblasterstorm outside because he used some bones to protect himself and the kid (everyone not saved by Sans' "bonewall" died, it was just a huge mess outside) and in the fight against everyone he killed everyone except Papyrus but then Papyrus was like:"Heyy, give up, it will be better for everyone" and then Sans was like "Fuc kyou".

My god everything is coming full circle. Now Cross’s motives are just crystal clear. Imagine killing everyone you’ve loved for the sake of a better future than then that not even working, the image is horrific in every way possible i cant begin to imagine how broken Cross is now.

I’m still confused. Why would cross kill everyone to have a better future if killing gaster would have let them live happily? Chara even told cross sans that they would live happier without gaster. Why would he perform a genocide if he could just let chara get rid of gaster and create a happier universe?
@@jenssenvelasquez9811 Chara/Frisk would've been the one in control of the universe then, and seeing that Chara/Frisk had recently used, attacked, and turned everyone against him, he didn't want that. He decided to take matters into his own hands, and claim the Overwrite button for himself. His plan was to do genocide, get the Overwrite button, then bring everyone back and create a happy universe. He wanted to do the same thing as Chara/Frisk (creating a happy universe), but he didnt trust Chara/Frisk so he decided to do it himself. Unfortunately, his plan fell apart when he realised that a monster soul cant operate the Overwrite button, so he couldn't bring back all his friends as he'd planned. Guilt and mental breakdown ensues.
Im just mad, if Cross ever knew what Chara and Frisk had to go through im sure he wouldn't have ruined everything, Yes Chara and Frisk did a lot of horrible things to him just to verify Gaster's status, but they still wouldn't have remade the whole universe over 10 times, make everyone forget you and even hate you more everytime the universe was overwritten.

My god, this, it all makes sence now. Sans after seeing the Overwrite take place so many times, he had come up with a plan that almost worked, he would take Frisk/Chara's soul, and redo everything, remake all of it, have a world made by nither Frisk, Chara, Or XGaster a world, like the rest, with peace. But he never seen how the soul merging wouldn't work, and as for the ending of season 1, it explains why XGaster gave him another chance, he played his roll in the plan, and XGaster won because of it.

He killed his brother the comics confirm it, the reason his soul isn’t glowing is because he wasn’t planing to kill papyrus but after the fight he decided he couldn’t trust him anymore and One Shoted him
Sans is literally like any other Sans, but what seems to make him different is his ability to make decisions that benefit Gaster.
He absorbed the human soul to stop the madness they were enduring, which made it to where the human (Chara) could no longer use Overwrite. That was a good thing, but it was mostly a bad thing seeing as Sans (Cross) is now stuck as this vessel for Chara.
Since monster souls can't use the ability to Overwrite, or pretty much any ability to manipulate the timeline, he can't fix anything that has happened. He's stuck.
This isn't just a story on the creation of X-Tale, this is a story on how Sans became Cross, and how he now has the option to fix his mistakes and set everything as right as it'll go.
But if monsters can't use the overwrite ability, what does that make XGaster?

Actually, Cross looks to be more determined but less mature than Canon Sans -besides more edgy- So is kinda cool.

Its such a wonderful story where conflict is driven without plain "evil for the sake of evil" sides

The problem with Ink is that he has no feelings. He doesn't care about his creations and the creators of AUs. He lost all his motivtions without us giving him.colors to make him feel something.
