Interesting thing is, back then, 20 years ago, people called this car a “Playstation on wheels” 20 years later we appreciate this car for being “analog”, so it’s mesmerizing how fast and far we have come as car technologies

Nope. If I had the coin (and could get one in the US) I'd get the R34. I've only seen one in the flesh last year in SF. I'm going again this year, hoping to see it again.

The R35 isn’t bad, the R34 is just too good. Even Nissan couldn’t make it again. These two monsters give me chills all over.
Nissan should've at least continue the production until for both GT-R and GT-T R34s until the R35 officially begin production. Just wish the G35 isn't a Skyline but as a brand new model or a new Bluebird.
@@Joshua_N-A Despite the awesomeness of the car they were not selling as many as they needed to make a profit, so they changed their marketing strategy and business model to become a mass prodocer of run-of-the-mill cars for the average American. They didn't discontinue the R34 because it was unpopular, but because they needed their cars to appeal to a much larger audience. I guess they couldn't do both at the same time.
@@johnnyvivic8730 precisely. Same thing happened with the Honda Prelude & NSX, Toyota Supra, Mitsu 3000GT, RX-7, and Nissan's 300zx. Early 2000s killed off the brotherhood.
@@Foxx488 What's ironic is that some of these cars were re-introduced as modern versions of themselves (Supra and R35 come to mind) later on, many years down the road, after these companies had already been producing run-of-the-mill cars for the average American for many years. I guess they _can_ do both at the same time now, but for some reason, decided not to 20 years ago. A couple decades can do a lot of good things for a successful company, though.

I remember playing Need for speed. All i wanted was to unlock the skyline. Just because Paul walker drove it on 2 fast 2 furious i was 11 years old old when the movie came out and im 29 now. We miss you brother and he will be never be forgotten.

Paul spent a lifetime promoting a front-engined AWD legend, but it was the mid-engined RWD Porsche (AKA 'the Widowmaker') that took his life. If he listened to his own advice and drove an R34 that day he'd still be with us today and Fast and Furious wouldn't have turned to shite.

i promised myself when i was 7 that i'll own an r34 some day. im in college now, and i still aim to make that a reality in the future. i dont care how hard ill need to work, this car has been part of my childhood, and ill pay homage to my young self and my dad, who got me into cars, by owning one of these some day in my future. thats my promise.

My friend in Vancouver has a R32 with Nismo engine. He bought the car in Japan and the Nismo engine installed there before shipping to Canada. That car is a monster.

It's way too bad that these R34 GT-Rs are going to be near the $100,000 mark once they are legal for US import.
Ive been saving for 3 years, but they are projected to go for $130k+ right now
@@AM-wi6zo thats about right. As more are wrecked or crushed, that value will climb.
They won't ever be federally legal in the US. You can Google around to read up on the hassle and drama MotoRex ran into trying to bring them in.
It's not just emissions, these cars basically won't ever be street legal at the federal level. Some states, like Texas, stop caring and will allow them, sort of, at 25 years.
I think there were 11 GTR's, iirc, that were federally certified before laws were changed, or clarified, in a way that now prevents it.
@@Texas240 any car after 25 years bypasses the EPA and DOT requirements because they are classic cars. Motorex had R33 GTRs and those cars are now federally legal for import. Motorex had issues because they werent legal for importing. Also, you can legally import very specific editions of the R34 GTR under the show and display law.

The R34 is still one of the best looking cars of all time
The FD3S, S15 and NSX have the BNR34 beat with their cury lines and aerodynamics. Noncar people still think those cars are modern 😂. The biggest problem with the BNR34 is was a performance trim based off a cheap family car 😩

Seeing them all up close, the R35 looks even more plain than an R33.
