Documentation is KEY!!! You suddenly have this concrete information how you look, what you wear most, plus can judge new pieces against how you would add it into existing outfits you wear and love 🧡
Exactly! ☺️
#2 is so important! I use this in order to declutter. If something is a "meh" item, I force myself to wear it. If i don't feel good in it this day I know why I don't reach for it and can finally let go. In theory, I liked many of my clothes but not when I actually wore them. In reverse, the best indicator for a piece to keep is when I forget what I'm wearing because I don't constantly fidget or check myself in the garment.
i thought this was going to be a video about having “basics” and “classic pieces” . i’m glad i watched all the way til the end ❤️
yay - glad you enjoyed!!
As a pear-shaped body myself, I find A-line skirts and dresses are the easiest and best way to dress myself.
Pants are so hard to find, especially ones that suit my whole wardrobe. New sub, hi there!
I totally agree!
...I'm pear shaped too and my number one rule is a fitted top part and then a gathered or wider skirt part
I am pear shape and I have come to the same conclusion about bottoms, having fewer but better fitting bottoms takes the stress out of dressing and I can go to town on the top.
Totally agree. It makes shopping so much easier too
Great advice! I got the book The Curated Closet from Anuschka Rees a few years ago and have followed the steps there (which are similar to what you state). It’s been so helpful for me as I’ve learned more about my style and how it’s shifted over time along with my lifestyle changes!
I love this book, too!
My style uniform is a high waisted skirt (of all lengths) with the shirt tucked in, often with a belt of some sort. After spending years in pants, I'm going full comfort mode!! Bike shorts or colorful tights under my skirts. I feel so cute! And also no overly tight/pinchy/uncomfortable pieces. It has rlly made a difference
Love this type of content, how to style without buying! I'm trying to save money for school and it's a bummer haha.
So glad you enjoyed it!
I've had a style uniform for ages but it's only recently that I realized accessorizing was holding me back. I think the hardest part of figuring out accessories is that most of the ones you see or can think of are for going out specifically (bags, coats, hats, sunglasses...) and I'm pretty much a hermit! I'm trying to lean into shoes, jewelry, and hair accessories.
I definitely agree with just the title of this video, I find styling creatively the clothes you already have is key to have infinite outfits 💓
Great idea to dress for your most challenging features! As a curvy girl with a super long torso it’s incredibly difficult and frustrating to find bottoms that fit- I never thought to start with the bottoms when putting an outfit together! Will definitely try!
Wow..this was actually really helpful! Love the tips..more often than not we don’t consider body types when we’re pinning outfits.
So glad you found it helpful! Ikr!? It’s something I always need to remind myself
Wow, love love love these tips! 💕 There are so many components that I only partially carried out, like taking a picture of my outfit but not going back to ID what worked and what didn’t. Your tip on sticking to what works for my personal body challenge, and having fun with the rest…simple advice but I’ve never thought about it that way. Thank you for so many good ideas! 😊
So useful. Thank you❤
These are great guidelines. I have found that I have had to adapt my style since going through the menopause which has been challenging as I was always a pear with a tiny waist and that has really changed. Identifying my basic style as classic, comfy but edgy with a parisian vibe helped on my transition to a new style uniform.
Great idea! What works for me is wearing items that I get compliments on. I wear my favorite things and then I take notes and what is complimented on it’s very interesting.
Excellent coaching. Thanks!
Brilliant video Katie Louise. So thorough and well spoken. Thank you for the helpful tips!
Great video! I brought a uniform on a vacation recently and it made everything (packing and dressing) so much easier. I can’t wait to apply this to my everyday life.
This was really interesting and helpful content. I realized that I actually already have a bit of a style uniform going on with lots of the same types of pieces and silhouettes but in different fabrics and (flattering to me) colourways. I had been thinking that this was boring and maybe a fault, but you've made me see that it's the opposite. Happy to stick with that 80/20 rule you mentioned. Thanks!
Loved this!
Documenting, documenting, documenting!!! I need to start here . Thanks for video Katie!❤
You got this!
The advice you gave about dressing for your most challenging areas was so helpful! Thank you for this great video 😊
You're so welcome!
I would probably say my style uniform is an a-shaped mini skirt and a tighter top :) lots of accessories that are gold and dainty :)
Great content! I find myself wearing and pinning a lot of straight leg pants or jeans with a crew tee and either a crew neck sweater or blazer. I accessorize with scarves a lot in my hair and on my neck. I buy other shape pants but always find myself going back to straight. Also been loving my barrel leg for a little more edgy look. Same uniform tho
This was a fabulous video!! So helpful and easy to do ❤
So glad it was helpful!
awesome video, Katie! ...almost 10k subscribers and they're all well-deserved, because videos like this are fantastic!
Thank you Lidia, that means a lot! ❤
Thank you Katie really useful video. I too am a curvy girl with both a generous bottom half but also a good bust too. So good tip to start with my bottom half. And lifestyle is key. Even though it can be hard to admit it sometimes.
This was a great video, really helpful tips. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Wonderful video! You are one of my faves! Keep up the excellent work! 🎉
Awh so kind, thank you!!
Excellent and very useful video! Many thanks for your tips ❤
Awh so glad you found it helpful!
Katie! Excellent video as usual. Just want to pop in and say I love pink & mauve & berry colors on you!
Awh thank you so much!
Great video Katie, must have been fun to make too :) I def agree with adressing your most challenging feature first. For me it's large bust combined with narrow shoulders (most challenging) then large waist to hip ratio (10" difference, second most challenging). Watching this video made me realize I have my own style formula's too without really knowing it.
What a helpful video. Thank you❤
Glad it was helpful!
It was very helpful ❤i would say my style Uniform is Jeans bottom and T Shirt or jumper / maxi skirt and blouse / plus blazer 😃😃
Great video. I am working on my accessories. As a pear shaped lady myself wide leg jeans and pants are my go to!
Thank you! Lots of pear shaped ladies around here 🥰
Great video! I'm going to start documenting my outfits. I've been in a outfit slump since I work from home three days a week.
I work from home a lot so I know how you feel! It’s so easy to get into a slump. Hopefully the documentation helps!
Hi, I really appreciate your videos ❤ and also wanted to mention that that cool tone jewlery really fit you and you skin tone. Looks much better than gold 😊 Looks very fresh 🌸🌸🌸🌸
Thanks, glad you enjoy them! And thank you, although I’m wearing gold jewellery in this video. I love gold 😊
Good video! I like the outfit with the blue jeans, the pink cardigan and the green bag :)
Thank you!! 😊
Love everything here so refreshing not pushing product not pushing trends amazing helpful tips to just do your own thing what makes you happy what looks good and feels good for you wearing what you already have…. Thank you for this…New subscriber 🥰
Glad you enjoyed!! Welcome to the channel 🥰
I would also add to point number one is how many compliments you got as that obviously the colours and styles that suit your figure and skin tone best 🙏
Yes definitely!!
Thank you Katie. I loved the video. You gave a good idea of how to use PInterest in a way that would help me instead of just randombly looking at things. I think taking the picture makes so much sense! I always forget because I am in a rush to leave and I always think I will remember the ourfit but the truth is that I foget. I like tha idea because even though I can put up nice comfortable outfits everynow and then I think if I take the picture I could refine them with the accesories and make them even bettter. Thank you!
So glad you enjoyed the video! I totally agree - sometimes I don’t want to take the picture because I’m in a rush or I think my outfit looks bad but looking back it is always so helpful!
My typical outfit : jeans or a chino, a mariniere or a shirt, a jacket or a trench and white sneakers or ballet flats 😄
Great video ❤
Thank you!!
I enjoy your videos!
Thank you!
Loved this topic and your process and ideas for it. Not pictures of your examples would make it even better.
Glad you liked it!
Such good points, thank you for this video! I feel like I pretty much have my style pinned down, but I'm missing a lot of key items in my wardrobe and now my problem is that I don't know where to look for them. My budget isn't sufficient enough to only shop at Sezane or similar brands, but I really don't like the clothes that you can currently find in most fast-fashion stores. So if you have any tips, they'd be most welcome!
you are adorable!
aw thanks!
I'm glad I found you on TH-cam :)
We have exactly the same body type and "uniforms", so I can relate to your outfits :)
Awh that’s so great!
Hello Katie, I just discovered your channel and it is very informative, this video in particular. I'm 41 yo, home office worker (as a Spanish teacher, living in Argentina) and I struggle a lot with weather when it comes to put together and outfit... I see so many cute outfits for winter but on my mind is .... I'm gonna be cold if I wear this. So is very hard for me to put and outfit together. Also I gravitate more to the comfort side of my wardrobe: joggers and a hoodie, that would be my style uniform right now. Also I feel very lost when I've to shop...here in Argentina clothes are very low quality and very expensive, so I do prefer to shop on thrift stores. Anyway I'm rumbling here. Thank you, this video was a hit. New subscriber here ❤
I work online and can’t get out of lounge clothes.
This was a great video. I wish I had watched something like this several years ago. I’ve always loved the “boho” “California girl” look on others and I spent a lot of money on pieces in those styles before I just had to admit it didn’t look right on me. I’ve recently discovered that a classic, clean lines type of outfit with maybe a small twist on it is what makes me look and feel my best. I learned about style journaling from another TH-camr and have been writing down my outfits in a physical journal with notes about what I love, like or dislike and what about the outfit or how I look in it makes me feel that way so I can avoid recreating the outfits I feel “meh” in and go straight for the ones I feel great in. Now I spend less time and money trying to look like someone else I admire and am more choosy and buy higher quality items of the ones I know will look and feel good on me.17:51
Which TH-camr is what you mentioned?
@@Tiamarruca Her name is Marie-Ann Lecoeur. She does videos for French chic style over 50 but so many of her tips etc apply to all ages.
@Tiamarruca When you mentioned the other TH-camr I wondered if you were referring to Marie-Anne. I love her channel and I've learned so much from her.
I am similar. I’m a classic who loves Boho!
My style uniform is the same as yours; my third is a midi dress with low neckline or thin straps
love a midi dress too!
I am now mostly pinning outfits I like for me personally that I can easily re-create right from my own wardrobe😘
Love that!
You look very nice in skirts. Your hip is balanced to your top as the eyes are not drawn to just your hips but from the waist to bottom as a whole.
This is a great idea! However, it seems one may need different uniforms for different times of year. For instance, I love wearing sweater dresses or a knit skirt w/sweater with boots when it’s colder, but that doesn’t translate to spring/summer, as I want to cover my legs, and leather boots are not conducive to the time of year.
I'm a pear shape, and i love to wear dresses, especialy fit and flare and A-line.
Same!
I really look forward to your video of the not-so-popular jewelry brands (except for the 3M) 😊
That’s coming on Monday! 🤍
I really enjoyed your video! Thank you for the good tips. Can I ask you how tall are you? i think my body type is similar to yours but I think you´re taller.
Thank you! I’m 5’5 (165cm) ☺️
Hi what lipstick are you wearing? It’s so pretty!x
Hourglass phantom lipgloss in ‘thrill’ 🥰
@@katie_louise Thank you!x
Great video, thank you 💕 I love that lip color on you, do you remember what it is?
Thank you! Yes it’s the Hourglass Phantom Lipgloss in ‘thrill’ 🥰
I NEED to know where your pastel green crossbody bag is from!!
ooh which one?! The darker green one is an old Celine bag, the lighter green one is this - spn.so/elh55f2l
Wonderful tips that I will try to apply to my casual, comfortable and interesting looking everyday style❤ Rosie 👩🦳 75 Toronto 🇨🇦
Thank you so much Rosie! You’ve got this ☺️
I lovee the color from your sweaterr, where is it from?
thank you! It is this one - rstyle.me/+S7rRw2su3B9_-ybkvGPqUQ
I love variety in fashion however I’m reminded that Christian Dior was the first to have 40 perfectly tailored identical pearl grey suits which he wore day in and day out for decades.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
😊
Lily Collins?
Hi Katie Louise! I’m Katy Louise 😁 mostly clicked because we have the same name but also I think I’ll stick around!
Haha no way, hey and welcome! 🫶
HOME in on, not “hone in on”
👍
@@user-tn2vo8gl8q nope! Home. You can hone something (sharpen, literally or figuratively) or you can home in on (focus on) something (as in like a homing pigeon). Never, but ever, “hone in on.”
@@malvavisco10 Guess the dictionary is wrong.
@@user-tn2vo8gl8q nope, Cambridge, OED, etc., support “home in on.” There may be a discussion note on some descriptive dictionaries about the rise in popularity of the malapropism “hone in on,” but it’s unlikely to be accepted by any legit publication’s style guide.
You look WONDERFUL in an A-line skirt. It hides your pear shape far more effectively than baggy pants.
My goal when dressing isn’t to ‘hide’ my body, and I’m sad you think it should be.
She does look wonderful in the A-line skirt doesn't she?
@@nepenthe1446 you know this is my channel right?
HEY *#yutulu*!! I have been watching you for years and im so proud of where you have made it! I love you so much! Also thanks for making my day
