It guess it is the "affordable" truck. Do people want this entry level trimmed truck? The world and prices have changed indeed.
WTH GM has lost their mind, 4-cylinder trim with the OLD interior, but BASE price for this version is $49k, a Toyota Tundra with much more powerful 6-cylinder, ACC and lanekeep starts at $40k. edit: Even the SR5 trim Tundra from yesterdays video on this channel cost less than the Chevrolet in this video !
@@woofman4796 The custom will tow 9K lbs and carry almost 2K. Plus being much wider the full size will be more stable towing a travel trailer. I mean if you really buy a truck for capabilities a mid size makes no sense at the current price points. Not even remotely so. These customs go for around 42K now (8K off MSRP's). You won't see discounts like that with mid sizes.
@HiPlains1 I had a 2016 Silverado z71 off road, 5.3 v8, 9100 lbs towing, had it for 6 years, kept having transmission issues, I'm a retired truck driver, I know about towing and hauling, I was just posting what my Colorado will do
@@woofman4796 Did yours have the 8 speed? It was a POS back in those days. It's pretty decent in the current generation. I surprised you bought a Colorado. That 8 speed made allot of customers swear off the brand. It was indeed trash with all the shuddering, hard shifting and torque convertor failures etc... I almost bought a 19 Colorado and heard of these issues right before I pulled the trigger. Ended up with a 19 Frontier Pro 4X and its never failed me. Nothing like a NA port injected motor. Pretty much as reliable as a second gen Tacoma.
The 2024 2.7 also comes with a 5 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. There are a lot of incentives right now. The one I’m looking at is $52,995 but after factory and dealer incentives and $500 military rebate it’s down to $46,000 and 2.99% for 72 months. However, Two years ago my son got a new 2022 Trail Boss V8 LT for $44,300 after incentives and a 2.99% for 84 months. The dealership also offers their own 7 year 100k powertrain warranty. I should have went with him then 🤦♂️. But I like these new ones. I’m just not sure I want to trade in my 2019 F150 2.7 with 61k miles, I’ve been extremely happy with this truck. And I have heated seats, power everything, the app that allows me to do quite a bit. I’ve had absolutely no issues with it.
Picked one up this weekend! Moved away from the F150 XLT with Ford not wanting to play with a competitive lease rate. GM’s rate was half, but with a just plain stupid 85% of MSRP buy-out. Must admit a 4 cylinder and less options will take some getting used to, but doing a two year, no money down lease made sense. I predict it will have very little re-sale value in a couple of years but that will be GMs problem not mine.
Exactly I got a 2023 silverado custom for 37k and I just like driving a truck and I’m more comfortable in a full size truck mine is mainly a to work and home cruising and also going out of town and I absolutely love it and I’m coming from a 2006 Nissan titan where it had no tech in it

Lots not use the affordable word, is the cheapest. Now, here in San Diego ill say half of silverados are the custom and the most common full size truck. Ive seeen them for sale in the lows $40's. For me, I migth lease one for for $ 250 witb $4k down-payment. Mod size trucks are too small and center console is very narrow that you rub elbows Now, for me to buy a custom Chevys needs to add a floor through console like the f150 stx (hate bench seats, so hillbilly) audio controls and just a simple LED bulb (mavericks has them and the new f150)

Hey that 2.7 Turbo is no joke. Its built like a diesel and has been around for some time. Its got more torque then the 5.3 And the torque comes in much earlier in the low rpm's. Remember Ford's popular 2.7 V6 ecoboost is the same displacement. This is a big block for a 4 cylinder. I'm really not a skeptic anymore because I don't hear any issues with it. The 8 speed did have issues some years back but GM finally got it working without issues. They put allot of good tech into the turbo to make it reliable.
Way to much for a 4 banger bought a used trail boss with 5.3 and nicely equipped LT 3900 miles for 55.000 out the door. The smart buyer's buy used .😂😂😂 Prices are going down nobody wants to pay 50 + for just above base model truck . Ben Hardy dealer PR guy 🤣🤣🤣.

In 2018 I went to Chevy dealerhip looking for a basic 4x4 crew cab custom. They were going to sell it to me at $27,900. $49k for this is beyond ridiculous, there is no short supply of these right now and inflation didn't go that high. SMH
Dude you need to start doing real reviews if you want to be relevant. That means you need to be critical, and since you're not getting vehicles from the manufacturer you need to price compare. If you are beholden to dealerships you're sunk. Everything you need to know about this truck can be summarized by looking in one place. Look at the steering wheel. Both RAM Tradesman and Ford F-150 XL are better deals for the money. All 3 can be had with 4x4 and within 2K of each other where I live (real prices, not MSRP). The Ford 2.7 Ecoboost has proven itself reliable (more reliable than the 3.5 or 5.0), and so has the V6 Pentastar. Both of them come with updated interior instead of this last gen look in the Chevy. The F150 is the most powerful, the V6 RAM the least powerful, but the RAM has the nicest ride and handling thanks to coil suspension. And both the F150 and RAM have steering wheel audio controls.
in 2003, a Silverado 1500 4x4 crew cab LS trim was about $35K. In today's dollars, that's about $60k. So a 2024 custom 4x4 crew cab is actually cheaper than it was in 2003. According to census dot gov, The median US family income in 2003 was $64K and $75k in 2023. What are your thoughts? When you take inflation into account, it appears to be about the same price it was 20 years ago, but when the median family incomes don't increase to match the inflation, then I agree that these new trucks are super expensive!

Fair enough but this truck gives you automatic 4x4 (AWD) and the Tundra won’t give you that for any price.
I have yet to see ANY gen 3 Tundra for less than 56k. Most over 60k. NONE of them loaded.
