In the comics, when Peter Parker lost his spider-sense, he asked Shang Chi to train him in martial arts to help compensate for the loss of the sense. They developed a new martial art style unique to Spidey, catering to his strength, flexibility, and reflexes. After this training in the Way of the Spider, Peter Parker became one of the deadliest people in Marvel. Oh, and he got the Spidey sense back, so that just made him OP.

The influence from his mother & father is reflected in his costume design- he has the dragon scales from his mother and the rings from his father. He also wears sneakers which represent himself, or at least his time spent in America.

It's such a shame that Wenwu had to die. He was one of the better antagonists/performances of the solo films. Even though the character is dead, I hope we do get to see Tony Leung in the sequel, even if it is in a flashback or some sort of vision. I could easily see them having their own version of the astral plane.

People need to be patient and wait for the big stuff. You can’t just rush into a huge event movie without letting people get to know the characters because then people won’t care about what happens to any of them. Cough* justice league cough* Phase 7 will be the beginning of the next saga just like phase 1 and phase 4 were. That’s how they work. It’s set up. Idk how people don’t see that. Don’t skip on What If. It’s technically canon, and that’s all I think I can say.
To answer your question in the beginning, the Ten Rings are the same organization that kidnapped Tony in Afghanistan. After his wife passed, Wenwu donned the rings again, hired new crews, and resumed operations worldwide. And one of the first things he had his men do was carry out the hit.
@17:21 That’s All Hail The King in a nutshell.
One of HYDRA’s reps in Ant-Man 2015 was also a Ten Rings agent.
This film was originally slated to premiere in February 2021 in part to celebrate Lunar New Year. However, COVID delayed everything and the movie had to be postponed until September of the same year.
They were able to film about a third of the movie (including the bus fight) over the course of two months before they had to go on hiatus and send the cast and most of the crew home. The director Destin Daniel Cretton was among the few who stayed behind to move along with post-production.
Four months later, they were able to resume. Part of the reason is because they were filming in Australia. COVID cases there weren’t as high as in most other countries at the time.
One month later, Simu and Meng’er were able to put on their superhero costumes for the first time. Even though I had seen posters of Shang-Chi in his costume months before the film premiered, I was still surprised when I went to see this movie in theaters for the first time during the premiere weekend that the jackets made for Shang-Chi and Xialing were made of dragon scales.
According to designer Andy Park, the triangle motif on Shang-Chi’s costume symbolizes the endless cycle of life, death, and rebirth.
The complete costume is made up of the three parts that tell the full story of his journey:
1.) the dragon scale armor from his mother
2.) the rings from his father
3.) the Air Jordans from his time in the States
In the comics, the ten rings are worn around the fingers. Back in Iron Man 3, even Trevor wore ten brass rings as part of his Mandarin costume.
For the MCU, the rings were modeled after Hung Gar rings. They were purposely designed to be worn around the arms like bracelets since having them worn on the fingers would’ve felt too similar to the Infinity Stones on Thanos’ gauntlet.
Andy Le who portrays Death Dealer (the Ten Rings operative in the white mask) and Cambodian actor D.Y. Sao were Simu Liu's personal trainers. The three of them started practicing the fight choreography months ahead of filming.
Simu’s training had two components: strength/flexibility and martial arts. He had to learn two different styles for Shang-Chi based on his character’s parents: tai chi (his mom’s more graceful and pacific style) and wing chun (his dad’s more aggressive and menacing style).
Also, when Simu's parents would call him, it wasn't to check up on him but rather they wanted to know if he got to work with Tony Leung that day.
You should check out the soundtrack for this film. Record label 88 Rising brought a number of their musicians together for this album, and half of the songs made their way into the final film.
There’s also a video on Insider’s TH-cam channel that goes further into detail as to how the bus fight scene was put together.
And the story about Ta Lo was also published in a childrens' book that's tied to this movie. It's called "Who Guards My Sleep?"
A sequel is in the works with Destin expected to direct again. He’s also been hired to direct the fifth Avengers film titled The Kang Dynasty.
But first, when Jon Jon said he speaks ABC, it’s an acronym for American Born Chinese.
That also happens to be the name of an upcoming Disney Plus series directed by Destin and starring Michelle Yeoh who portrayed Auntie Nan in this film.
(For this show, Michelle got to work with some of her co-stars from Everything Everywhere All At Once a second time.)
Bruce, Wong, and the Abomination will all return in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. But first, Wong will also return in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Captain Marvel will return in The Marvels coming to theaters this November. It was recently postponed. Originally it was meant for July.

@@SilentBob731 Endgame kinda sucked. Same for Infinity War. Take away Thanos at the end of each climatic battle, who are the army truly fighting for? What is their main Goal or Objective? In The 2 Towers, the Orcs fought for control for the tower. You could name any movie with a climatic battle, the army had a purpose for being there. Literally you could take any main villain character out of the equation and the army still had to fight for something...a goal, a mission. Thanos and the Army was just there for sake. No real end objective.

@@SilentBob731 Problem is, Phase 4 is literally a bunch of lose sand. Barely any movie/series in the entire Phase 4 has to do with more than itself. We have basically 15 people (it's an exaggeration calm down) that tinkered with the multiverse at the same time, yet have not come across one another. Avengers happened after what? 5 movies? Yet how many hours upon hours of movies and series we got for phase 4 with literally no payoff at the end? Also, Infinity War was leagues above Endgame, don't understand the hype except a couple great moments.
Black Widow was pointless for the entire MCU except to introduce discount Black Widow replacement, Eternals was a snorefest, Shang-Chi was imo the second best movie after No Way Home, Multiverse of Madness was a disappointment, cause it was no Dr. Strange movie but a Scarlet Witch/America Chavez movie.
As far as series go, FatWS was a joke, WandaVision somehow made a hostage tacker and torturer the victim who bravely "gave up" children that were never real to begin with, Loki was decent, Hawkeye had it's moments but was overall boring AF, and anyone who likes the travesty that was called She-Hulk is a person i'd never want to talk to. Don't know if it's been mentioned, but fun little fact. The guy rating the bus fight is the same guy at the street vendor, who tells Spider-man to do a flip in Homecoming.
Also, you probably don't know this, but Shang-Chi is considered the greatest human Martial artist in Marvel Comics. He can learn new styles faster than Taskmaster, but also improve on those styles to remove those weaknesses. He can even learn styles that he can't actually physically perform, but can mentally design them for others to use, taking their powers into account. He made up a martial art based around Spider-man's wall crawling and web swinging abilities and taught him how to fight properly. He has also trained with Wolverine and Captain America. This isn't a power, but just a really good skill he can hone and channel. This is shown in the MCU by how quickly he can learn from his aunt.
In the comics, he is mostly powerless, but is sometimes written with some, he most common being he can manipulate chi to enhance his physical capabilities to beyond the maximum a human can be, and also has some mild psionic capabilities (allowing him to detect people, even if they are not in line of sight)

Pictures films), Jumanji: The Next Level (2019, after Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017), WARNING⚠️: There are TWO SNAKE scenes in this one), and the upcoming film Renfield (2023, a horror/comedy for Halloween).

You were spot on Addie, that was the "evil Hulk," aka Blonsky/Abomination, and his grunts here were in fact done by Tim Roth, his original actor. No spoilers but this obviously is a tease for something I can't wait for you to get to.
Also totally keep your eye on Wong throughout phase four, he's almost like the new Nick Fury the way he shows up places.

Oh and I don't know if you caught it in your full-length reaction but there was also a Black Widow among the fighters, and she too was played by the same actress from the stand-alone BW film. The attention to detail here was really cool.

There's a lot of different aspect to love in this film. For me though, the cast was just so special. For example, the older guy who was training the troops on archery, he used to be Bruce Lee's stunt double. And this film came out about 6 months before Everything Everywhere All At Once, which makes me enjoy this film even more after watching EEAAO because Michelle and Stephanie being in this. Fun to imagine this is one of the universe for them to connect with their jump pad.

Somehow she had missed Iron Man 3 and had no idea what was going on and asked if I was ok, I was grinning ear to ear and just said “I’m so happy right now!” Great movie, the performances, the action, the music, this is one of my favorite parts of phase 4!
