I miss Midnight Club so much, MC3 was a masterpiece and it's one of my favorite racing games. It's sad to see what Rockstar Games has become after the success of GTA Online.
They didnt even do anything with the wild west version of gta online, red dead online which had the chance to become even better then gta online but no you cant even rob *ANYTHING* in red dead online, cant rob wagons, trains or even a fucking general store
I still play midnight club 3 from time to time to this day and it is still an amazing experience I wish i could play it for the first time one more time like in my childhood
@@theanepic I wish we had a PC version of MC3. Imagine what mods can be done by the community, and yet there is already a modded iso with cut soundtrack and you can apply texture patches in PCSX2.
Midnight Club 3 dub edition remix is still by far the best arcade racing game ever created. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't hope rock-star gives the series a revival. It's too bad gta v is the most profitable piece of entertainment ever created, because if it wasn't I'd bet rockstar wouldn't have abandoned midnight club
I don't know about *the* best, but certainly one of them. It's sad to see arcade racers go the way of the dodo seemingly overnight and then forgotten to time. Now people think The Crew is a good arcade racer.
I tell everyone til this day it's racing is more fun than any other racing game I've played til this day. And had various vehicles from tuners, trucks, and bikes. They could've went crazy to continue that in the series. They dumbed LA down so much compared to DUB EDITION. Of course graphics and the customization was better but DUB EDITION's was still nice for it's time and still the best racing game to me and been playing them since since taxi cab confessions yelling "IM RIGHT BEHIND YA!" LOL
This is one of those "Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened." moments. RIP Midnight Club, I'll still come back to MCLA year after year to enjoy what was and still is.
Midnight club from MC3 to MC L.A. absolutely demolished anything Ea was doing with Need For Speed at the time. Id love for Rockstar to make a new Midnight Club.
@@TheWholeGrainBread_Real Most Wanted ? Nah most wanted was where NFS took a knee. I'll give you Underground 2 but NFS MW was the downfall of PS 2 era NFS games. NFS didn't really peak my interest again til heat.
@TheWholeGrainBread_Real how? MC3 had more vehicles, customization, events, music, etc that's any NFS title and still holds records to this day The only thing NFS did better was NFS games had mediocre stories where Midnight Club didn't really have any sort of indepth stories In terms of everything else NFS didn't catch up for years and to this day MC3 has a wider selection of licensed vehicles than any other street racing game with the most ammount of customization
Midnight Club Los Angeles was the only game that made my PS3's fan sound like a 747. It was insanely detailed for the time. Great video!! Very nostalgic
@@nickwebb9937 yes and ? you said MC LA was the *only* game that made PS3 fans like a 747, what about GTA 4 and 5, pretty sure they were more intensive on the system
@@Shockloadthe guy you just replied to was not the one who said that it was the other guy, also the guy up top could have possibly never owned gta 4 and 5 in his ps3 collection which may have prompted him to say that
I remember playing Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition remix, I loved that game to death. The mechanics were amazing, the cars, there modifications. I miss those days.
well Rockstar did sort of brought it back but now its kinda in GTA online tuner update cause I see a few similarities between the OG games and the way they did the racing in the tuners update. but the chance of it coming back after the crappy LA is very slim
This, one of the few series without a single bad game, also GTA driving sucks compared to a dedicated racing game, if anyone thinks it's comparable, they don't know anything about the genre.
I remember being a kid and buying MC LA and it still to this day being the best racing game I have ever played. Such a shame we never got the franchise we deserved
To be fair, we do have the franchise we deserved lol. If you started out with MCLA, you have 3 other games before that you missed out on. All of them are amazing.
i was gonna comment that the mc3 and mcla osts were great on their own, but mc2 was also a banger. mc3 was a very well rounded eccletic soundtrack (despite the overall theme aiming more towards rap) and mcla perfected it, but both really succeds in making everyone happy. mc2 had a more focused and peculiar aesthetic, but was also a great introduction to the electro genres overall r* knows how to set the mood
Midnight Club 2 : Underground Night Time racing Midnight Club 3 : Club racing with a touch of hip hop aestheic Midnight Club L.A : Authentic Street Racing across the city
You've just sent me back so far into the past. I remember when Midtown Madness was THE game I played for years on end. I didn't even understand English at the time but I still managed to get to the very endgame.
Every year I still play MC2 to its fullest, It's a game that really stuck with me, specially the music and the personality each racer had that no other game has done since. Not even its sequels.
i completely agree. Dice was the perfect opponent. My favorite part is when riding a bike, going afk, and eventually “the driver” flips us off. I remember cruising that city in the purple hot rod with the gun cheats. R* abandoning the ip hurts
That's my favorite one too. It doesn't have licensed cars and customization but it's just so memorable. 3 and LA are fantastic but with 2 I remember most of the individual races because they're challenging, well designed, each racer has their own song and plenty of banter. I could see people finding it dated or too difficult but it's an all time favorite for me NFS Unbound actually attempts to do a similar thing with it's opponents. I think it's a pretty decent game but imo the biggest problem is it uses the same races over and over again
Thanks for making this video, man. I grew up playing Midnight Club 3 and Midnight Club: Los Angeles back in the 2010s. I bought Midnight Club: L.A. earlier this year and completed the game in less than a week. I'm gonna go back and play it again because I love driving, I love cars, I love Los Angeles (even though it isn't what it used to be), and most importantly, I love Midnight Club. It's a game that I will hold near and dear to my heart. ❤
That’s because the integrated Midnight club into GTA if you never noticed, lots of things related to racing etc are similar to midnight clubs features . I think even the mini map on gta 4 was the same one from midnight club
I miss Midnight Club. It's been almost 20 Years since that game came out. I don't care if GTA 6 is coming soon, I just want a new Midnight Club game. They had the customization, fun arcady racing physics, great race course design for the maps they were made on, good music selection. THEY HAD EVERYTHING, sucks that they gave it up, but it least as of right now the series ended on a high note.
I got to talk to Justin Worles, the owner of the Yellow Car on the cover of MC1 (WHICH he still owns to this day! He keeps it in his garage along with his trophies, DVDs and posters from his meets and races) very cool guy. I told him that car means alot to alot of people. I posted a photo on FB of some behind the scenes during the photoshoot for the cover of MC1 and it got 3K likes and almost 1K shares. Glad people still love and talk about MC 20 years later.
Not too long ago I soft modded my xbox and booted up 3 dub edition. Pleasantly surprised to see my old saves and go through my old cars I hadn't seen in over a decade. Great video.
MC3 is the only game I ever fully 100% completed and I spent years playing it after I beat it because it was so much fun to free roam and race and customize the cars. I maxed the car limit and made everyone of them exactly what I wanted with paint and body kits and there was a lot of love and pride in making them look how I wanted them. This game influenced me to get into working on cars which I still do to this day
I used to just get in a 64 impala SS in MC LA and cruise through the town. I know these games weren’t exactly realistic but in a way they were so much more ahead of “serious” racing games. For example, speeding and getting the red and blues put on you in MC LA, watching the cop walk up to your car then smashing the throttle and seeing the cop trip up as he rushes back to his car because the chase is ON now?! I loved that game.
@@livebassngames it was definitely mcla it only happened sometimes in freeroam and only had a few second to actually stop before they started a chase. Just remember, just because you don't remeber something doesn't mean that person is wrong and it didn't happen.
No Racing Games today have ever competed with what midnight club did. The huge amounts of customization and immersion in the tuner scene is unheard of. Most people now dont know this franchise. but those that do know how amazing it is.
Midnight club was a series that i would consider to be a relic that I'll never forget, it was the dark souls of racing games, it's fun but hard at the same time and the fact that rockstar abandoned it was just sad, i would buy a midnight club 5 even if it had unlicensed cars
You can blame corporates for that. Trying to include it everyone and make the game for as much people as possible just like how they sell consoles is definitely not the way to go
imagine if rockstar brought it back and researched all the mods people do to other games and put them in vanilla as a game mode or something,it would sell really good and if gta 6 ever goes bad they can just do that
It has a style which no other videogame has or will ever replicate. And is the closest in referencing the actual Mid night Club, and the sense of underground mystique around them.
@JG9TH-cam agree! I truly believe this one nailed the "underground race scene" better than any other, I know most people debate either mc3 or mcla being the best but as a 13 year old having this being my first ever game i bought on my ps2, the memories and nostalgia i share for this game will always have a special place for me!
@@fidanza8109 Facts and the way they merged all that underground ambience, with the techno futuristic style, with the crazy acid trip racing, with the 'classy' Paris feeling, Thomas Bangalter, the atmospheric Blu Mar Ten tunes etc, all into this package - this is something no game development/design school can teach.
I remember how Rockstar promoted midnight club 3 as if it were a rap album. The game's success definitely relied on what was happening in mainstream media at the time of their respective releases. Great video.
I LOVE Midnight Club 2. its the crown jewel of the series imo. I know everyone prefers MC3, and i love that game too, but MC2 felt more exhilarating and alive. Yes it's difficult and the dialogue is corny, but it is the PEAK of arcade racers. Licensed vehicles & customization is great, but it took away focus from the game, and the special abilities made everything too easy. When I think of MC3 i just remember the time spent customizing cars and listening to the soundtrack. I truly cannot recall a single race or character in that game. But i VIVDLY remember the races in MC2, the time spent starting over, the moments I won, each character's cutscenes, THE MUSIC. it was all. so. good. I don't think racing games will ever be that fun again.
Oh come on bruh special abilities were not too easy to use, you’re just letting nostalgia blind you and it did NOT killed the series or took away the focus
@@lilgemini4032 I mean, it's been awhile since i played MC3, but from what I remember it was fairly easy compared to MC2. Which is not to say I always finished in 1st without ever having to restart a race, but it only made the game easier instead of more challenging. Real cars & customization was something that was bound to happen eventually -and don't get me wrong, I do like that aspect, but I just like the simplicity of racing in MC2. Both games are iconic, but MC2 is the one I always go back to.
This channel is gonna blow up REAL soon, I can't get over the quality of your videos, great stuff and I'm happy to see your TH-cam success, keep it up.
I only ever played Midnight Club LA, I vividly remember hearing Nothing Left by As I Lay Dying for the first time and immediately going into the playlist settings and turning off every other song except one other random track so that as soon as nothing left ended i could hit the skip button , i probably played like 50 - 100 hours and just violently cruised around listening to that song, thanks for bringing back those memories lmao, great video dude.
Gonna have to give this a watch later. Grew up playing 3 and LA so I was greatly disappointed to see 2 of my favorite games end up being followed up with just a very forgettable GTA update.
with the announcement of the gta 6 trailer, i believe that rockstar should spend some time and look into reviving this franchise. it would probably break records for racing games. i spent sooooo many hours playing midnight club 3.
They won’t. Cost too much money to license the vehicles and brands. It made more sense in the early 2000s for rockstar to have a dedicated racing game given the scope of gta. Now gta’s driving mechanics are the best. Why make a whole separate game just for racing? A shitty remaster is probably more likely. Which kinda sucks, but that’s modern gaming for ya.
@@kokoanuttifylmao, they aren't the best at all, how can you even think that? Go play Forza Horizon or any Need for Speed, cars don't have any weight.
I always thought rockstar wasn't going to make a MC 5 because the basic put all the driving mechanics in GTA 5/online. I remember driving in GTA 5 for the first time and pleased that the driving felt more like MC than GTA 4. Also MC: LA looks like the starting point to Los Santos. Also when GTA online had the low riders update and add most of the customization options from MC:LA I knew that was the end of Midnight Club. The closest you'll get to a modern Midnight Club is going on GTA online and join some normal races.
I remember as a kid, I got to the end of Midnight Club 2 and had to race the guy in the saleen looking car which was like a point to point race where you have to be the first to get all the checkpoints. I couldn’t beat him for the life of me. And when I’d get close, I would make a minor mistake and lose the race entirely. I agree with MC2 being the hardest racing game I’ve ever played
I’m surprised that people find the ability to”roar” useless. It was one of my favorite ones to use. As we’ve all seen, rockstar seemed to purposefully program NPC’s to get in your way or crash directly into you (and this goes for a lot of games, not just Midnight club). It was really helpful to me to get to shoves all the cars around me out of the way.
For some reason, roar doesn't work for choppers. In the choppers Tournament, where you need to you roar, It doesn't affect the others racers, unless you use 3 or more in a row
Die hard group of friends all played MC3Dub - I always chose roar. Realized it doesn't work on choppers to give other choppers a chance to live, BUT it does work on traffic around chopper. Toss a bus across traffic in a chopper race and you're doing way more damage - time loss to other racers! Timing roar required more focus and planning than sniping in any AAA shooter, but oh man that's what made it so sweet when you finesse it
I played MCLA to the absolute max 100% competition. It was one of my favorite games on Xbox 360. I still replay it every so often these days. Also I just recently finished playing the PSP port of dub. Which is equally as good and close to the console experience as you could get at the time.
I'm so happy people are now covering and spreading the word of MC. This game was a canon moment in my life and it's so great to see it get the attention it deserves. Even today it still holds up astoundjngly, such a gem we lost due to shite management...
GTA V's car customisation and lack of royalties to IRL car manufacturers basically made Midnight Club redundant from Rockstars POV. Hell Franklin even has the built in "focus" ability. Michael also has the bullettime ability from Max Payne too.
I love Midnight Club, each game I enjoyed so much as a kid. I remember countless nights of me playing the demo and running into other players, racing and talking; this was so many years after it’s release too which made me realize there’s so many people out there that love this franchise.
Wow, this took me back. I was in my teens during Midnight Club 3 and L.A. My brothers, friends, and classmates played the hell out of every Midnight Club game. I remember playing Dub Edition and thinking it was the most advanced, best graphics you could ever get from a video game 😂. It's crazy now on my PS5 seeing these games I grew up on. Midnight Club 3, Midnight Club L.A., Need For Speed Underground 2, and GTA San Andreas will always be remembered as the best games of their time.
I know all of this information. And yet, every time I run across a new video of someone talking about this series, I still watch it in its entirety. These games were an experience. Something I am glad to have been a part of. I grew up with these games. I still have a smidget of hope one day R* will release a Midnight Club 4. Or at least a PC remake/remaster of 3 or LA. But that's just a pipe dream, let alone it being a good effort and not some easy cash grab like the GTA Trilogy.
Midnight Club LA was one of my fav games ever, and this video just unlocked a core memory of playing midtown madness without ever knowing the two were related.
midnight club 2 is the best racing game i have ever played, since from my childhood me and my brother would play it every year and i can say because of the opponents dialogs when you are racing and the intense arcade feeling when you are playing the game it makes it so much fun. also when you win a race it doesn't feel like the other racing games. when you win you really feel the accomplishment because in some races you really have to make your own strategy and test your reflexes and emotions when you are racing everything is so intense and the songs , cities , characters , cars are really characteristic even you don't have much of a customization. maybe because of the nostalgic feeling or something too but midnight club 2 is the most fun racing game for me.
I will be eternally grateful for MC2 introducing me to the proto-Electro greatness that is Felix da Housecat and 'Silver Screen Shower Scene.' I have the game on Steam, but hearing about how difficult it is makes me hesitant to play it again.
Its fascinating seeing the elements that were started in Midnight Club, that made their way into GTAV, especially in GTA Online. I mean some of the car customisation in GTA Online is like the exact one from MC: LA. I think the reason they'd never make a new one though is for that exact reason. Yes, GTA makes boatloads of money, but also its a game where you drive around, can customise cars, and has racing modes...but you can actually get out of the car and do other stuff. Something like GTA Online is so close to being a new Midnight Club game, except for, you know, the actual racing focus.
who knows maybe they'll put more effort into the driving and racing aspects of GTA 6 and kill two birds with one stone which I would be cool with, so long as they do it right.
The problem is that the racing isn't even close to midnight clubs and that's why it can never, ever be a replacement. The whole thing about midnight club was just how ridiculously over the top everything was about the racing, massively arcadey handling and ridiculous none stop speeds. Something GTA could never have because if it did, it would break the rest of the game.
And also the fact that now Rockstar doesn't have to pay licensing fees to the car manufacturers since all the cars in GTA are all made up. I think the licensing is one of the main reasons there's no more midnight club games
@@flame_101 yes but do you think Rockstar would be able to go back to non -licensed cars after they started using them? Everyone would be in an uproar. We see it now with games like Need for Speed when certain cars are missing from the latest releases
15:13 The moment one of my Indonesian friend KevinAbillGaming featured and I am one of his friend, subscriber and viewer from Malaysia tho. Quite proud to see this guy featured my friend 😀❤️
The range of customization MC has in wheel size and tire width makes the games stand above all the competition imo. Being able to put fat slicks in the front and pizza cutters on the back of FWD cars drag style, or just huge wagon wheels on a SS Impala to make a donk, ect, opens up endless build possibilities based on real life car subcultures I've never seen matched.
When your PSP port is more fun than modern games, you have successfully made an awesome game. MC2+MC3 Dub edition and L.A will always be GOATed with the sauce
Love Midnight Club 2. Used to just enter cheats and drive around. Looking back it’s incredible how experimental the music was and how much batshit crazy stuff they put in the game. Screams character. I also remember Midnight club 3 fondly on the PSP. Although It’s halarious to play it now and think how normal I thought it was for a video game to be so frustratingly difficult due to map design, game design and A.I. because well… that’s just how games were back then.
27:12 This is the game that got me into Aesop Rock and subsequently into giving rap music a chance again. Listening to him is like being beat over the head with a dictionary filled with collections of old sayings and references long since forgotten by time. Cycles to Gehenna off his Skelethon album is one I'm surprised has never been included in any racing game considering it's a song about suicide racing on bikes. "Here's how a great escape goes, when you can't take your dead friends' names off your phone" hits harder than any line I've ever heard.
To be fair, basically all these systems were implemented into GTA5. Even the "zone" mode which slows down time and increases grip, is used as Franklins ability. The garage customisations and even level design.
Midnight club LA was my only experience with the series and i loved it. imo, it was balanced, it was fun, the physics was good, the characters were good, i generally loved it. im at 12:54 of the video and this video makes me want to go and experience the other titles just to feel for myself what they were like.
What a great retrospective video!! Love the attention to detail. Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition REMIX is and always will be my favorite game of all time. Like you said it captured a period of history and its vibe PERFECTLY. I'll never forget that summer home from school racing through the streets of San Diego, Atlanta, Detroit and Tokyo. One of those memories that brings back a smile no matter how terrible of a day you're having. Thanks for this great video that allowed me a brief trip down memory lane!
I completely forgot that midnight club existed, i grew up playing 3dub and never knew it was a rockstar game. Thank you for unlocking some nostalgia for me :)
I really wish Rockstar would invest in Midnight Club again, because this franchise was one of the reasons why I got into cars and racing games. The gameplay, car roster, and music were so good. I know it will not come again, due to how popular and profitable GTA has become.
Bruh when you mentioned Kurt’s killer ride from underground 1, you touched my heart dog, that race was the reason on my first save in underground 1 I never completed underground mode
Midnight Club 2 is the only Midnight Club I played and I remember playing through it several times. It absolutely nailed arcade city racing and the soundtrack. It was so unique and I only found out later that it was the same developer as Midtown Madness - which was also great given its game modes and presentation.
I'm annoyed you didn't mention the powerups mode on MC2. That was probably the mode I played more than any other. You do checkpoints as normal, but you can collect powerups that affect you and your opponents. One powerup forces cars to stop moving, another made a shock wave that mode everyone around you tip over. I'm incredibly dissatisfied.
One of the many series of games killed by Rockstar, and it's a shame really. Midnight Club 3 was one of my favorite games growing up, and it's a crying shame we'll probably never see another Midnight Club again, at least not for a long time.
Fun fact rockstar didn’t reproduce this game because it would’ve came in direct competition with GTA online. Unfortunately, as sad as it is to say, GTA online was semi the downfall of rockstar care about customer.
This video came right after I finished Midnight Club 2, that game is easily the most difficult I have ever played, no shooter, survival horror or hack and slash game ever comes close.
I’m so so glad to still see people talking about Midnight Club. It was the first game I ever played back on the OG PlayStation. It’s got a very special place in my heart and I really hope they will make another some day.
Midnight Club 3 was my childhood, I would play it for hours at a time just cruising around in the Saleen S7. Which in turn has made the Saleen my favorite car in any racing game, and the one I always shoot to acquire as quickly as possible.
Wow the wave of nostalgia that washed over me when the GTA 3 opening music came on almost moved me to tears. Those days are gone forever, my childhood is long and over with and I’ll likely never feel that same magic from a video game again.
Fantastic take on the games, dude. Even I didn't know why I loved MCLA so much and never had more fun playing a game. They definitely got into the mind of car people and gave this awesome vibe all the time. RPG aspect, soundtrack, brightness and contour, the game had it all
This is a very nice video. I finished all of them, but LA is a game that is on my mind to this day.. I will never forget just waiting at the traffic lights in the evening, 1st person view, good music, watching cars lining up, or just passing by. Sometimes the street atmosphere in MC:LA was just something else.
Funny I was just thinking about the midnight club series today while at work, remembering how blown away I was as a kid to get a PS2 and the original midnight club for christmas one year, and how amazing it was at the time looking back. Had them all, MC2 and Dub edition were some of my most played games as a kid. Saw this in my recommended videos when I got home and had to give it a watch. Thanks a ton for the nostalga trip
It's pretty awesome that with a decent rig you can emulate the entire franchise using PCSX2 and RPCS3 or Xenia. Playing Midnight Club Los Angeles: Complete Edition on PC at higher resolutions and framerates with a modern controller is pretty sweet. Subscribed.
in the last 3 years, Tuner Culture both in real life and in games have started to really gain some ground again, so i think it is possible that Rockstar might at least TRY to bring back Midnight Club. and if they do, i am pretty sure it would be to a Moderate Success at least, since it is one of the most loved franchises Rockstar has ever made games for. but i have also heard Rumors of a Bully 2 coming out in 2024 or 2025, so it might not be before AFTER they are done with that, if at all.
What's crazy is most of us likely had more fun in Old school MC or Gran Turismo than playing modern racers. It was so archaic looking back then... I believe at the time of MC2/3 that multiplayer/online gaming was in its infancy.
I can’t believe rockstar games abandoned midnight club franchise I like customize my Nissan skyline gtr and Mitsubishi evolution x And Midnight Club Is Criminally Underrated Racing Game franchise #BringBackMidnightClub
New Midnight Club game in the near future would be an absolute power move by Rockstar. Especially since we probably won't be getting new NFS games and we didn't get a good one in more than 10 years.
The drifting really helps a lot in time trials lol. Idk how as a kid I struggled so hard. Sometimes you can even turn perfect and walk ride the walls too but I swear I remember as a kid always crashing or losing speed hitting the time trial walls😭🤣
MC2 was the best one of them all in my opinion. I enjoyed the 1st one, had lots of fun with the 3rd, had a blast with MCLA as well as with LA Remix, but MC2 was intense and it had the best soundtrack in racing game history.
20:44 you just had to put some stank on the accent real quick😂 but yeah, the Soundtrack for Midnight Club 2 introduced me to Artists like Michael da brain and felix da housecat. 🥳🥳🥳
I just recently played and 100% completed (excluding the online trophies stopping me from getting the Platinum 😭) Midnight Club Los Angeles Complete Edition and it is still as incredible now as it was 15 years ago. Nissan Skyline w/ Widebody... damn
I think Table Tennis was actually the first RAGE-powered game. I'd like to see Rockstar release other IPs than RDR and GTA. Hopefully once VI launches they'll have something fresh to work on, either revive an old IP or do something totally new. They already have gazillions thanks to GTA V. GTA VI will also make more gazillions. Money is not an issue.
Man, this series had a much bigger influence on Rockstar Games than I realized with the AGE engine turning into the RAGE engine (and I believe they even used voice actors from the Midnight Club games in their other games such as Savo's voice actor from MC2 being the voice actor for Ray Bulgarin in GTA4). The saddest part about GTA Online killing off the Midnight Club series is that Rockstar Games are basically using GTA Online as a replacement for the Midnight Club series because most of the money they make from Shark Cards comes from the people who buy and customise the new cars that come with each new update (and the garages to hold all those cars). And the part where you said that the Midnight Club games have always been about capturing the culture of the periods they were released in is something I've been thinking about for a while. A modern day Midnight Club would feel kind of lacking because modern day car culture is kind of lacking as well. It's not entirely bad it's just it kinda feels way more cookie cutter copy pasted than the 2000s. As a guy named Clarence from a game from 2005 would say everything is a "bolt-on Wonderboy" or a "pump gas kit car" these days.
@@Michael.Shayne The closest we had to something like that were the Driver games, specifically the ones that allowed players to move on foot and shoot enemies. They weren't that good (though some people liked Driver Parallel Lines so maybe they weren't all bad) but the potential is there. Imagine a third person open world racing game where you play as an undercover cop trying to get into an illegal street racing group that makes most of its money running drugs for other criminal organisations. Think Sleeping Dogs but with a lot more racing, better physics and in-depth car customisation. The issue would be that some people would complain that it would be kinda bare bones compared to GTA which features way more activities than just racing and shooting while some others would complain that it would not count as a racing game since you would be doing things other than racing.
I replayed MC LA recently and it’s still brilliant for game of its age. I’d love to replay 3 Dub Edition, as I have a copy, but unfortunately it’s not backwards compatible on Xbox.
You aren't exaggerating about 2's difficulty. I got all the way to the last race in Tokyo and never finished it. To this day it still ticks me off when I think about it.

Counterstrike might just be more profitable, skin market is ridiculous.

The only thing NFS did better was NFS games had mediocre stories where Midnight Club didn't really have any sort of indepth stories

Midnight Club LA is easily the most memorable racing game I ever played. I remember it being my first true introduction to racing games on Xbox 360.
each midnight club is a full vibe on their on
True
I think all mc games represent some k8nd of trend
i was gonna comment that the mc3 and mcla osts were great on their own, but mc2 was also a banger. mc3 was a very well rounded eccletic soundtrack (despite the overall theme aiming more towards rap) and mcla perfected it, but both really succeds in making everyone happy. mc2 had a more focused and peculiar aesthetic, but was also a great introduction to the electro genres overall

I could see people finding it dated or too difficult but it's an all time favorite for me
NFS Unbound actually attempts to do a similar thing with it's opponents.

Trying to include it everyone and make the game for as much people as possible just like how they sell consoles is definitely not the way to go
"The future of illegal street racing" MC2's slogan truly lived up to what this game felt like!
imagine if rockstar brought it back and researched all the mods people do to other games and put them in vanilla as a game mode or something,it would sell really good and if gta 6 ever goes bad they can just do that
It has a style which no other videogame has or will ever replicate.
Two franchises I miss a lot: True Crime (especially NYC) and Midnight Club (especially III Dub Edition Remixed).
Facts mc2 is goated
You described my exact love for MC2! It was so corny but I replayed it and still loved it!

With GTA VI been announced for next month, i hope Rockstar bring back that franchise also.
Or bully

Yeah but the focus is not cars. The midnight club vibe was just different. The games always felt similar but different.
Even Franklin's ability was a straight up port from Midnight Club.
I would roar my opponents into a wall the moment they passed me 😂😂😂

I miss the Midnight Club franchise so much. I had so much fun playing MC2, MC3, and MCLA. Even MC1 I had fun playing.
I will be eternally grateful for MC2 introducing me to the proto-Electro greatness that is Felix da Housecat and 'Silver Screen Shower Scene.'
I have the game on Steam, but hearing about how difficult it is makes me hesitant to play it again.
@@DJDynamiteMC1 and 2 didn't have real cars, and they still were a success
@@flame_101 yes but do you think Rockstar would be able to go back to non -licensed cars after they started using them? Everyone would be in an uproar. We see it now with games like Need for Speed when certain cars are missing from the latest releases

You know, I sank hours into midnight club…. It’s been so many years I forgot rockstar published it! Thanks for the memories!!
Except the GTA game design is so many steps backwards in order to cater to the casual masses.
Midnight club LA was my only experience with the series and i loved it. imo, it was balanced, it was fun, the physics was good, the characters were good, i generally loved it. im at 12:54 of the video and this video makes me want to go and experience the other titles just to feel for myself what they were like.

Those days are gone forever, my childhood is long and over with and I’ll likely never feel that same magic from a video game again.

in the last 3 years, Tuner Culture both in real life and in games have started to really gain some ground again, so i think it is possible that Rockstar might at least TRY to bring back Midnight Club. and if they do, i am pretty sure it would be to a Moderate Success at least, since it is one of the most loved franchises Rockstar has ever made games for.

You can tell rockstar took a lot from LA and used it towards GTA 5. Like 1st person driving, customizations.
I would love an official gta racing game. Real and raw with a dope story centered around racing.
@@CyanRooper oh man that would be a dream come true. We don’t get those type of games anymore
Imagine if they make a new Midnight Club, but instead of the usual street racing they changed it into a track racing game
@@flame_101 no just no
I replayed MC LA recently and it’s still brilliant for game of its age. I’d love to replay 3 Dub Edition, as I have a copy, but unfortunately it’s not backwards compatible on Xbox.
mcla was my go to game. I remember coming home from school just to play the nostalgia is crazy. Thank you for making this video 🙏🏽
You aren't exaggerating about 2's difficulty. I got all the way to the last race in Tokyo and never finished it. To this day it still ticks me off when I think about it.
2:29 Glorious Vinny appearence here, my favorite Wattotuber.
I had to
Your videos are amazing how do you only have 30k subs😢😢
IMO dub edition remix soundtrack >LA soundtrack
