Just want to say, I got my dad an e-bike from you guys about a year ago. He loves it, rides it often, and has done a huge amount of miles on it. Thank you Luna!
Sorry for your loss, man. It's touching that Luna is named after your Best friend. My dog is on the bed snoring away, dying from kidney failure, ( I don't know what happened) but isn't quite ready to go yet, ( Pigsley is very tough) but very soon I'd say. Anyway the Apollo is Beautiful, great job great vision, you've set the bar for all aspiring E-bike companies. Dillon Thompson ( loophole culture) mentions Luna Cycle ( he has a Sur-Ron now) in his vids, and the fact he was able to get it next day after ordering is amazing. Hope I come across more video of company etc. Thanks.
I was stoked when i saw that the apollo was available again this month in may 2021 , i canceled my Luna X1 and purchased the Luna apollo instead , And i couldnt believe there shipping also this month. Cant wait for shipping comfirmation from the luna guys , i. Check everyday. 👍😎 glad there people like Erik Hicks which is why i went with these guys 👍
Built a 1000 watt ebike with your help. It rocks ! Handled 50 mile bike trail cruise with friends with plenty to spare. Thanks for getting this OG back on a bike.
Amazing bike, I'm drooling at it right now! From a company committed to ebikes and quality components, and now it's really got a showcase to be proud of.
Still running my bbs02 and bbshd 3 years on from Luna Cycle. The 2 52v batteries are still performing well I bought with each kit. Great to see how far this company has come.
great to have you with us.... thanks for following us and we are always here when you need spare parts. those are 2 great drive systems you have and really all you need.
Nothing great is fast nor easy keep pushing forward you will win the customers at least all the smiling customers .your doing great things thank you Luna
Luna Cycle is great to work with. I have ordered several parts from them for a build I did and they were super helpful. Great dealing with a company that is passionate about what they do.
Not enough said for that nowadays. I talked to another ebike kit company yesterday that didn’t know anything about their products...just a reseller for the cyclone clone. Power to the LUNATICS!!
Man you guys are badass. Your honest straight to the point way of presenting your products is rather refreshing. I bought a bbshd last year from you guys and it has been one of my greatest purchases ever. Thanks
I just wanted to say all the hard work you have put into the ebike community has helped thousands of us build the bikes of are dreams !Those of us that could not buy a 5or6thousnd dollar bike but wanted quality fast n powerful we would not have been able to this without your help .Thank you !!!

Proud to know theres people like you putting so much passion in something is changing peoples lives and the world. included mine! long life to Luna Cycle!
Been watching the market for a couple years now. I have been looking to pick up a bike for local commutes and pleasure cruises, that can also do light trail duty. From my point of view, it seems most of the current offerings are poorly built conversions with little power and very limited range, that are also very expensive. Not saying $2 - $5k for a bike is exactly cheap, but comparatively speaking, Luna offers the best value in terms of performance vs. dollars spent, in my opinion. I must admit I'm still saving for it, but it's coming. Stay the course, Eric. You're going in the right direction.
$5500 for this bike is a great deal, just the bike itself with the spec is halfway there and then add in all the R&D and demanding specs of the drive system, its quite impressive what you have created and built here.
Great things take time - Wine, Cheese and now the Apex/Apollo. Glad to finally to see it in its final form. If I had the money, I'd be ordering right away. Fingers crossed, that lotto comes through ;)
Thanks again Eric for being the leader in US made ebikes and the best mid-drive bikes out there. The Apollo will be my next bike to buy. BTW - Just passed 4K miles of my Luna BBHSD and triangle battery commuter bike! Even in Chicago through the winter that bike has never failed.
@@MaxPizarro I built this bike to be a hard core commuter bike. Used a Breezer Cafe and the 168 - 171 BBSHD motor and a big 58V triangle battery. I ride 20 miles each way to DT Chicago.

Damn. I've said it before, I could listen to Eric talk all day long. So interesting and he's so passionate about ebikes that it's contagious. I can't wait for you guys to have the next production of Apollos available. I've got my money ready !o) Keep on keepin' on Luna & Eric!
love it! I get how you don't want people putting crappy parts on your art. I did this lady''s yard once. Handpicked every rock, grew every plant myself from cuttings, spent two months doing the install.........she went to Big Lots and Target and bought a bunch of crappy cheap plastic shit, and lights on strings and buried my work. Looked like a Florida trailer park vomited all over my vision. I was crushed. Wish I could afford your bike, I love where your head's at- with your heart.Respect.
Been researching for months, never had an e-bike but when i saw this guy doing test videos I new he was for real. As a crafts person I know electrical and mechanical so even though I'm new to e bikes I could tell I was being lied to from other companies trying to sell crap. When i found Luna cycle I was so relieved and excited. Best part of this video is when he predicts you will watch the whole thing... I did. what a awesome guy choosing passion over money!
Nice bike but those rosenburg connectors are the weak link, Ive had major problems with them after extended service, they arc and corrode and melt after awhile causing catastrophic failure!!!
You guys continue to knock it out of the park, love your ethos and attitude, I have been on the Ebike scene from wayback 20 years ago now on the Power Assist forums with Randy Draper and the early v is for voltage crew, its great to see finally after the tidal force and all the other attempts they have made that finally someone and a company like yours finally nails it, I dont dabble that much with making new e-bikes any more but have done many builds in the past and was one of the very first to use and test BMC geared hub motors and really early lipo packs way back then. I recently test rode a stock £4000 250W road legal ebike here in the UK and went back to the sales assistant and said I dont think the assist is working, he said oh yes its working and I was like dude really? total waste of money, i basically wont swing my leg over anything unless it has at least 1500 watts on tap, its that simple, although I did read that here in the UK they are looking at making scooters road legal and upping the power limit, always a dumb idea to limit power, sure limit top speed but why limit power? makes no sense. Congratulations on making such a nice machine, I wish you all the best, Knoxie.
Wow. What a great bike! Keep up the good work Luna! To anyone questioning the quality of Luna I have a khs 3000 by them with all the bells and whistles and it is single handedly the best bike I've ever ridden. Rain, snow, Sand or pavement you will be amazed.
great job guys, I see you guys tucked in that motor for more clearance. You guys are great for the bike community as you guys are reaching the masses with quality and great price point. specialized... I can not say the same...
really really awesome looking new E bike. he is sure correct on how some companies add real older or lower quality parts on over priced bikes. Luna Cycles sure looks like a awesome place to work, with some wicked nice rides they make I have Luna on the top of my wish list.
This is an amazing Bicycle. I just hit 900 miles on my bbshd kit from Luna! Is Luna considering customers that are looking for a car replacement ebike? Long range bike(ride to work) with good power but efficient(high miles to ah) and requires basic maintenance. Yes, I can build my own and I have using your bbshd kit. Something tells me you all would do an amazing job. Oh make it a fat bike or plus size tire for all seasons.
Cool video and I appreciate the insite. I'm considering this or the sur Ron. They arent really apples to apple bikes but its hard to understand what your getting with the Apollo and how it functions without any videos showing the basic operations. Are there any videos that go over the bike and show even a simple demonstration riding down the road?
Amazing bike and I want one. I live in Europe however. and shipping and custums would make it to expensive. Do you plan to export this in larger numbers to bikeshops here or is private import the only possibility?
Looks amazing, the price seems very reasonable too for such quality engineering, I was expecting double! Shame I don't live in the US!. I've been pining after a Sur-ron but something like this is way more desirable, capable, powerful, but still looks like a bike.
Eric, I appreciate your passion for what you do! It's about the heart and soul that goes into a product that defines it. Clearly you're being open and honest about this experience. It's not easy to have a tech business. You have a lot of people you have to satisfy. Yourself, your employees, and your suppliers, but most of all the customer! There's the expression you can satisfy some of the people, but not all the people. Who do you want to satisfy the most may come down to self-sacrifice for your customers. Best wishes for success in your endeavors. I only found you and Luna because I had been interested in possibly purchasing a Sur Ron, but I didn't realize you guys were deep into ebikes. In some respects, sadly I was committed by deposit to getting my Specialized Turbo Levo Expert eBike before finding you guys for the Sur Ron. Now I see and realize that you guys were heavily into trying to make a high-power ebike. I guess I felt I had that need satisfied by having my 6000w Typhoon. It's not the greatest bike, but it has gobs of power for doing tough technical trails. I've got it in Moto mode with pegs and took the crappy crankset off. My focus has been more about spending my time riding then investigating and learning about the technology. Ironically I guess because my time is limited and my priority is for riding. It's not that I'm a non-technical mind, I'm a mechanical engineer and I'm 60. Sorry, but I sold out and got a Specialized Levo! Great video!
Thanks for the vote of confidence in the Levo. Yes, I am loving it as says the title says in one of my videos in this playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLZEb8ngMuMU11GTmJTs7tqAOaWdEysOdNI.html also have a few others showing off. Today I did my 3rd ride on it in the Mountains. It feels like a dream to ride it effortlessly through stuff I've ridden many times on my conventional mtb's.
thank you so much appreciate your support.... we hope to have some time to go out riding .... i need a skilled rider for performance videos and none of us are that good...the most we can do is ride up and down stairs...and we can do that locally.... what we hope is we sale some bikes and the cool videos get made organically.
Would be interesting to see the torque at accelerations with full throttle and such for example, as well as climbing a super steep hill, and the top speeds possible with this setup and so on... those shouldn't need a special driver.
Luna Cycles: Positive "organic" videos are great marketing tools, but a couple of two or three minute videos highlighting road, trail, speed, and power performance can help get the ball rolling. 👍
This is the future of ebikes! No more crappy underpowered middrives. Only criticism is battery design, why not make it fill up to top tube. That empty space between the top tube & battery is not hot. Everything else is on point.
Should someone with little bike experience get a bike this nice and so powerful? I dont want to be like the guy with the Flying V and Marshall Stack that can't even play. But on the other hand, I don't want cheap metal and near zero power.
@@dukemcdonald63 This bike could definately be used by someone with little experience. It is powerful but the power is controlled by you and you don't have to use all the power if you don't want to. I think you will find that you will get used to the power and you will be absolutely loving it
Stem risers, racks, panniers, baskets, trolleys, trailers are cool and practical. Some people have bad backs etc so need help to ride and carry stuff! Less people driving petrol cars is also the goal!
I was interested in buying one until you said you do not want it modified. I am disabled and need an upright so I convert my MTB's to hi-rise BMX bars. Currently I have an 03' Giant Iguana with a 1500 Watt Luna BBHSD. It loves the sand, eats it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Good stuff.
that is hilarious...thank you ;) and we will keep building better bikes...we always see room for improvement. Building great bikes is a journey and not a destination.
Quote says it - "Mark Elford 19 hours ago It's quite a machine , the battery looks perfect , the whole bike rocks at Slayer Angel of Death sound levels"
Head light in head unit and under seat taillight sensors for turn and stop hardwired in, throttle that fits under shifter and takes lock on grips, slide think
At last someone who routed the cables and wiring loom through the frame, to many bikes look they were built in someone's garage with an old mountain bike and a car's alternator, infant I've seen some neater home builds than shop bought, this bike looks pretty cool
Nice ride but I have some issues with "the best ebike ever" when it has Kenda tires and the usual cable spider zip tied somewhere close to the handle bar similar to most "El cheapo" DIY e-bikes. Why not building custom cables for the best ebike ever without any non required connectors ? What you said about cheap components on other expensive e-bikes is so true. Mass products everywhere at a hefty price tag.
you are right.... and right before we shipped the first bikes we updated the specs so early adopter would not be let down..... we upgraded many of the specs.... now there is a 150mmm front fork maxxis chronicle tires, crane creek hell bender headsets and a leather padded saddle extra.
@@LunaCyclesLLC Thanks for the explanation ! I didn't want to sound too harsh. This was simply catching my eye. I believe that Luna Cycle are the upper notch of available e-bikes but unfortunately in Europe you are pretty limited in regard to using throttle and maximum power if you want to stay street legal. So running such a beast in the forest or on the road unfortunately is not really an option :-(
just because everyone knows we stand behind our products...and we would rather represent than over promise and not deliver .........honestly we stand behind our product.
@@LunaCyclesLLC Thx for coming back to me. I don't want to be negative but surely a longer warranty as standard would demonstrate you standing behind your product rather than up selling an extended warranty?
we are shipping most of our bikes to customers and we cant have a traditional warranty because shipping a bike back and forth is super expensive. we could claim a warranty like many of our competitors do and then fight on every little thing to keep the bike from being shipped back.... we need to protect ourselves from the black sheep customer who throws a fit because his derailleur is out of adjustment . I am sure we have the best after sales support of any ecommerce ebike company.... if you want better i really suggest you buy from a local ebike or bike shop.... some people need that and we really stand behind them. They can support a business model with lifetime warranty etc because you ride in and they are there for you.... lots of people need this and please support them because they need you right now. You cant pay bottom dollar and expect white glove treatment....pay the mark up and buy a 14 thousand dollar specialized levo and support the bike ecomomy... we love that and think it is needed ....and we hate to see the bicycle industry struggling because people can google and find that part or that bike cheaper....notice amazon or costco does not sale ebikes...there is a reason why. Its a hard thing to sale and even more so than a bicycle they take upkeep and wrenching at a time when many up and comers cant even turn a screwdriver in this country.
Eric, this is a good Touring bike. It is not a mountain bike, however, that would appeal to Trail, Enduro, or DH riders. If you ever made a mtn bike that focused more on performance and handling (vs. torque and speed), you'd sell many more bikes. Real mtn bikers are looking for handling - not hot rods. As a result, this featured bike just can't compete with the weaker production emtbs which just handle better. We need to figure out how to make ever lighter, more playful mtbs ( not ever heavier, more powerful bikes ). Btw, I aleady have 90 Nm of torque on my emtb and that's plenty for designated trails in my area. I'd only need more on the street or on paved hills, but in that case it would be wiser to use a gravel or Touring bike.
Looks like Luna Cycle is a really good company, very passionate about their products and very unbiased and honest wen comparing their bikes with the "competition" also their bikes looks very "badass", I wish them the very best :)
I am leaning toward your bike after riding 20k miles in 2.5 years on OPTI bikes from Colorado. I have two but they just go down all the time. The builder is 5 hours away. Is there local support if there a e issues with the bike? Is the battery swappable or use, charge, and reuse?
Well, I have upgraded my Sondors and it is now MUCH better. I now have a Luna Big Wheel..... Can you say FUN. Still saving for either an Apollo or an Apex. Luna stands for Quality and Excitement. Keep it up.
thanks for following! we think the luna big wheel is one of our most under appreciated products.... it did not go over big..but that thing is like a whipping fast silent go cart and every summer we take a team of them to the beach on nightly rides.
Ha ha ha Eric, that movie was "The Big Night" with Stanley Tucci n Tony Shaloub! I get you on the analogy n yeah that would suck to see people do that to your creation. Beautiful bike, owning a Luna is now on my bucket list.
Sweet bike! I have a custom-built, full-suspension bike with a 1000 W Bafang motor and can attest to how fun these powerful e-bikes are. I have a car but almost never use it because I love riding my bike. I'm planning to be in CA this summer and can't wait to take a test ride.

thank you so much appreciate your support.... we hope to have some time to go out riding .... i need a skilled rider for performance videos and none of us are that good...the most we can do is ride up and down stairs...and we can do that locally.... what we hope is we sale some bikes and the cool videos get made organically.
@@LunaCyclesLLC i'd be happy to do some riding and honest reviewing in northern ca at different locations.
@@LunaCyclesLLC I don't think you will have a problem finding a skilled rider for a demo in California. If so let me know I'll come over from Florida.
I want one now!! When will the 2020 be available ?
Love what you guys are building!! Top notch!!
Hey bodies, how are you? Iam from Venezuela, I cant see any videos of the Luna X1 enduro???? I like the brand, your videos and you passion!!
Would love to see a 150-160mm travel version of this bike with HorseLink suspension
I think you mean Horst Link. A DW link would do as well.
What’s the battery life expectancy?
I agree with you on you should be able to build bikes as powerful as you want. If you're only endangering yourself and not others
I want one! Can I buy/order in Spain?
This is the future of ebikes! No more crappy underpowered middrives. Only criticism is battery design, why not make it fill up to top tube. That empty space between the top tube & battery is not hot. Everything else is on point.
Ralphs Plug I like the gap
@@T-Sav Me too, I think filling that space would spoil the aesthetic.
@@10aDowningStreet I can see filling that space with a small ditty bag or other stuff, make use of it being the point.
I have looked into all sorts of e-bikes for years now and this everybody is definately "the best"! Well done LUNA team
thank you.
I think you will find that you will get used to the power and you will be absolutely loving it
The bike looks cool and all, but how much for the smart hippy in the plaid?
If this was around before i built my ebike i probably would have snapped this up instead. Love it!!
I am selling my vintage truck and using the money to buy an Apollo E-bike. You guys are fantastically freakin awesome!
Luna Cycle there’s a thing that I miss more than a throttle on a ebike: videos of your machines performing!
please tell me your going to sell just the frame kits??, frame, motor, controller and battery..
Beautiful bike and it is very clean build for an electric bike. Saving up for one...I hope you guys sell a lot of these.
Great presentation!!! Awesome e-bike!!! Luna rocks!!! 👍🚲
i want one but i gotta change the seat
Stem risers, racks, panniers, baskets, trolleys, trailers are cool and practical. Some people have bad backs etc so need help to ride and carry stuff! Less people driving petrol cars is also the goal!
And they also like to go fast and look stylish!
Can you get more of a riser handle bar?
I was interested in buying one until you said you do not want it modified. I am disabled and need an upright so I convert my MTB's to hi-rise BMX bars. Currently I have an 03' Giant Iguana with a 1500 Watt Luna BBHSD. It loves the sand, eats it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Good stuff.
Love Luna, love what you guys do, most of all love your bikes. Sorry Eric if you want a bike to compete you're going to have to build it!
that is hilarious...thank you ;) and we will keep building better bikes...we always see room for improvement. Building great bikes is a journey and not a destination.
Way to go Eric. Bike looks like a winner. All the best man.........wayne
Thanks wayne!
Thank you for making this video and being honest about what happened with the Apex
I want an Apollo size large in red... availability when?
Quote says it - "Mark Elford
It's quite a machine , the battery looks perfect , the whole bike rocks at Slayer Angel of Death sound levels"
Eric you are a genius. You'll have my pre order shortly.
Great video I'm sold. so excited for this bike
Head light in head unit and under seat taillight sensors for turn and stop hardwired in, throttle that fits under shifter and takes lock on grips, slide think
So how do i buy one in the UK?
Love your style and attitude. Clearly passion and love and attention to detail.
At last someone who routed the cables and wiring loom through the frame, to many bikes look they were built in someone's garage with an old mountain bike and a car's alternator, infant I've seen some neater home builds than shop bought, this bike looks pretty cool
Can this bike fit a 6’4 guy since I see there is only 1 size available?
I see you growing like Greyp is growing now. Love your work, love the beard :-)
What category is this bike? Cat 3 or Cat 4? The bike has a throttle? Thought only hub motor bikes could enable throttle without pedaling.
Is this bike in production?
So running such a beast in the forest or on the road unfortunately is not really an option :-(
One furrher question. If it is the best bike, why only a 90 day warranty as standard?
Good Questin upselling? In Austria 2 years are law
just because everyone knows we stand behind our products...and we would rather represent than over promise and not deliver .........honestly we stand behind our product.
@@LunaCyclesLLC Thx for coming back to me. I don't want to be negative but surely a longer warranty as standard would demonstrate you standing behind your product rather than up selling an extended warranty?
no way i would buy a bike with a 90 day warranty, unless it was a tricycle for a kid.
we are shipping most of our bikes to customers and we cant have a traditional warranty because shipping a bike back and forth is super expensive. we could claim a warranty like many of our competitors do and then fight on every little thing to keep the bike from being shipped back.... we need to protect ourselves from the black sheep customer who throws a fit because his derailleur is out of adjustment .
Site has a typo "48lbs frame with 12lbs battery"
Please post some footage of what this bike is really capable of... I wanna see this beast on the trails!
Right! There should at least be a video of the bike on an actual trail.
It's quite a machine , the battery looks perfect , the whole bike rocks at Slayer Angel of Death sound levels.
Just want to let you know brother I believe you how cool your bikes are. Wish I could afford these, but if I had the money I would get yours.
What was the MSRP on this bike? there's a guy selling one and I can't find much info on this Apollo bike. He wants 3500.00
Looks like Luna Cycle is a really good company, very passionate about their products and very unbiased and honest wen comparing their bikes with the "competition"
also their bikes looks very "badass",
I wish them the very best :)
I am leaning toward your bike after riding 20k miles in 2.5 years on OPTI bikes from Colorado. I have two but they just go down all the time. The builder is 5 hours away. Is there local support if there a e issues with the bike? Is the battery swappable or use, charge, and reuse?
Can I get one in Australia and how much
LOL 14:11 "how it call this , Kyle ? " - stem- .......
Great video.
Can I put fenders on it?
hell no yuck
Well, I have upgraded my Sondors and it is now MUCH better. I now have a Luna Big Wheel..... Can you say FUN. Still saving for either an Apollo or an Apex. Luna stands for Quality and Excitement. Keep it up.
thanks for following! we think the luna big wheel is one of our most under appreciated products.... it did not go over big..but that thing is like a whipping fast silent go cart and every summer we take a team of them to the beach on nightly rides.
That bike looks fantastic!
Ha ha ha Eric, that movie was "The Big Night" with Stanley Tucci n Tony Shaloub! I get you on the analogy n yeah that would suck to see people do that to your creation. Beautiful bike, owning a Luna is now on my bucket list.
27:21 Try "iterations", boss.
Sweet bike! I have a custom-built, full-suspension bike with a 1000 W Bafang motor and can attest to how fun these powerful e-bikes are. I have a car but almost never use it because I love riding my bike. I'm planning to be in CA this summer and can't wait to take a test ride.
