For anyone that is going to do this project to replace the nylon gear. An alternative to breaking the chain and removing the spyder gear (for which you need the Bafang tool) is removing the chainring, disengage the chain from it and let it hang. When you separate the case the final gear stays with that side of the case and it is exposed allowing access and the ability to re-grease it. Then you can remove the sub assembly where the nylon gear lives. Another procedure you may wish to consider, especially if you do not have a new gasket, is when you first have a bit of separation between the two sides of the housing, run a spudger around each side of the gasket. THe spudger separates the gasket material from the aluminum. Using the spudger ensures that the gasket will not tear on separation of the housing because it is stuck to opposite sides.
Can you upload a clip / video of the sound difference between the 2 both up close & while riding? Is that motor mounting plate available for purchase for those of us who build out own bike frames?
Has anyone done any gear life testing to compare gear life of each gear material or is that unnecessary because there is some other component in the motor system that will fail before the gear being replaced in this video?

Hi - thanks so much for doing this! Can you specify the part numbers for the Luna parts (and socket) needed? Is Mobil 28 required or will a moly-grease work? THANKS!!
I have the m600 and the gears are grinding. I haven’t opened it yet because it’s technically still under warranty. Anyone successfully ever get their repaired under warranty?
I have not used any warranties, but I have had my motor apart a few times. Once, I was just curious, and then again to replace the motor grease. If you some basic mechanical knowhow, it is easy to work on. It may be faster to do it yourself.
Love the power of the cyc-x1, but it is way too loud! They need to do lots of improvements to get that noise level down so people stop staring at you haha
I have the newer motor that comes with the metal gear. That was supposed to be a reliability upgrade. I am not sure what gear was plastic in the older motors, but I would be surprised if people started putting the same plastic gear back in. I could be wrong, but this looks like a different gear. Yes, It's a bit noisy compared to the popular brands, but I don't think it's awful. These motors put out a lot more power than the main stream brands, so there is bound to be some compromise. Personally, I like people being able to hear me coming.
really ???? guys.....U haven't figured it out yet......yet... yet....dark side of knowwear,,,...beep beep. mix slick 50 with the grease mamas boi's girl's...dhu
Didn't bafang change to metel because the nylon ones failed.

I just watched a video where this plastic gear failed.

I don't know. What's the long term performance of the silent gear. Isn't the metal gear more robust.

5:12 flat head then a cut!
This is how Luna works. Great idea mix 2 lubes!
Would be interesting to know if it's made of UHMW or Delrin.
It's made of PEEK and nice German bearings
are you going to be selling the m600 seperately like the ultra? would love to build one of these.
What happened to your video showing your wolf pack battery Production area
and the battery in water bucket video ?

Please do a CYC-X1 pro GEN 2 review and teardown!

Awesome. Can you order the Apollo with this done already?
The Apollo doesn't use the M600 motor.
@@thebootfitter yea... I know I guess I just assumed a similar upgrade to the "620"
Or does the luna version of the m620 have a similar configuration already?
Whats about the new M620 with metal gear, is it also noisily?

The real silent treatment is waiting for their bikes to be in stock.
An you expect ppl too be able too do these
48volt !?
I like the X1 but am no ok with buying a Bafang motor that has been molested.
Yikes. Pass. 😆
U did it wrong . There was no extra pieces when U had Finnish apart from the old metal gear.
The extra screws were used to pry the plate off.
