    CADENCE AND CASCADE
    (Fripp, Sinfield)
    Cadence and Cascade
    Kept a man named Jade;
    Cool in the shade
    While his audience played.
    Purred, whispered, “Spend us too:
    We only serve for you”.
    Sliding mystified
On the wine of the tide
    Stared pale-eyed
    As his veil fell aside.
    Sad paper courtesan
They found him just a man.
    Caravan hotel
    Where the sequin spell fell
    Custom of the game.
    Cadence oiled in love
    Licked his velvet gloved hand
    Cascade kissed his name.
    Sad paper courtesan
They knew him just a man.

I was persuaded to name my daughter Cadence due to the beautiful melody of this song. 40-some odd years later, I'm about to retire to the little town of Cascade - rather serendipitous as Fripp might say.

As for the piano it sounds as if Roger O'donnel from The Cure has be somewhat inspired on songs like Treasure and Homesick. Aside his work with The Cure he has done some albums with instrumental music for piano and cellos. On these albums some of his piano are not far from C&C.
As a side note I remember Cure guitarist Reeves Gabrels saying that Fripp was/is a huge inspiration in terms of playing solos that were not just show-off.

OK I was a 17 year old black drummer in NJ when I first heard King Crimson I'm 70 now and I have not heard much music of this quality since. Had the pleasure to see King Crimson with Genisus at Tuffs University while attending Berkeley music school in Boston. Almost quit after that concert. Amazing compositions and exrodinary live presentation. I write this in 2022. They don't do it like that anymore. 🐼

This was the first KC album I ever heard, and I sometimes wonder if the acoustic guitar playing in Cadence and Cascade is what inspired me to pick up the instrument to begin with, even if I don't attempt to play like this at all. As beautiful a version as Haskell’s is, and it surely is, I still prefer Lake’s. To be fair Lake’s is only a guide vocal and is without the exquisite completed production work of the album version. Gile’s drumming is stellar.

Go listen to the sister song....
    FLIGHT OF THE IBIS
by McDonald and Giles after they departed.
Then read about the splitting of this song between the 2 bands. One group got the music and the other got the lyrics, cool story. I like both songs, but IBIS is superb.
