Good morning now for the show. The show just got started and I almost choked on my coffee with the demonstration of how the door could do bodily harm. As usual you two knocked it totally out of the park with fun and laughter. Wishing you a super great week. God bless in all you do.
Guys, the biggest reason I love your channel is that you two keep it real. No pretending like everything is bunnies and rainbows. Thank you for honest opinions. I hope one day I get to meet you guys and buy you a Captain and coke.
Uploaded an hour ago and already over 1 thousand folks have watched your Show! I've been here sence the beginning so to see this channel grow is awesome. Love my GBU Crew
I enjoy the comedy entertainment value of your videos as much as the sailing and work projects….so PLEASE 🙏keep up the great work.Thank you very much.Roly 🇬🇧.
Oh MG! "Right up the cranny!" I'm laughing so hard! And the re-enactments are both hysterical although I've got to give this one to my boy Mattie! Kristen's enthusiasm for everything is so cute. Best channel ever.
Things I Love Your insane drone shots That you have a kitty on board When you show a map of where you are and where you’re going Your sense of humor and how nice you are to each other
Matt, to access the outlet in the booze corner, just remove the door. It's a cool look and you will have electrical access. You can break up the laminato theme and add visual appeal.
Regrets!!!! No need to have any regrets you two. Matt you took on a lot of difficult projects and I have to say you did an excellent job. Fans how hard would it be to run a new wire behind the light bar and mount fans on each end. Another great video with y’all both at the end big smiles as always. Keep it up Papajack
Good job on the tune up of the interior...there is always something to correct it seems! Love humor between you two! Oh the winner of the struggle with door demo is Kristin !! Sailrjay
Another great video is over and my eyes fill with tears of sadness as we say bye once again. I'm a 68 year old orphan now that all my family cashed out of this rat race. You all bring such joy to this lonely old fool, love y'all.
Y’all make me laugh every week! We vote for popping out a few of your lights from the strip Matt made and putting fans in there. You already have power and it would be out of the way of your beautiful cabinets!
Poor Dad and the cabin door...... I'm sure you two never had that problem. That interior is so fine, hard to believe it was originally dark and rotted. Great job!
Concerning the outlet by the booze locker, just make a cutaway in the door so the outlet isn't covered. Then paint the receptacle cover brown to match the wood. As for the fans, try some low profile mounting brackets, like used for hanging radio mics, with electrical connectors. I also recommend buying a cheap thermal scanner, like TM160(under $400 US), or renting one. It will show electrical problems in wiring or batteries, problems with engines, water intrusion in wood and fiberglass, and more. They are also fun for spotting hidden animals or taking cool pictures.
I'm having more and more fun watching your videos as time passes. You "seem" like a great couple that can work through the issues of being together 24/7 or maybe 22/7...ANYWAY, thanks for the videos you two, you are in my top 5 sailing channels that I look forward to watching.
I think we all love how you guys always keep it real. We have all had those moments .... why didn't I think of that. It is just fun and feels good because we are getting the real you.
Matt you did your best and Kristen you are a good sport!!!!!!! Love the laugh when Matt said he failed as a captain!!!!!! No one could have avoided that Matt.
I haven't got a clue about boats or boatwork but in my unqualified opinion, i think you both have done a magnificant job on your home. Love ya both and see you next week. I hope hahaha.
Hate to say I don't like the sink fix . I would look into getting a new sink that pitches to the drain and try and sell the one you have . The companionway door came out great . The rest of the little things you will figure out Matt , you're almost a genius lol . The dingy ride was funny as hell . Love you guys , keeping it real .
Fan placement: Tap into your light strip wiring! =) You could screw a fan straight into that trim piece and hang the fan from it upside down pointed any direction. Out of the way, no screws in Larry's fine craftsmanship, and access to a power source (or the ability to run more in that channel).
TIP 1 Just install an outlet inside the booze locker wall legged off the one in the nav station cabinet. 👉👉TIP 2 For the closet probs install a 12" hand towel bar upside down from back to front. 👉👉TIP 3 For your fan issues get the mobile suction cup mounted ones with the lever on it. From the online river store. 😍😍They hold on just as good as those safety suction cup grab bars for tubs/showers and the ones for installing window pains. 😎😎TIP 4 A BIG Plus! Those suction safety grab bars are a huge win for use on the outside of boats as Oh crap handles. On the hull to tie off to or a few used as a ladder.👈👈😜Not kidding they really do work like this.
I recently went to St Thomas in route to the BVI and stayed overnight in the Red Hook area. It's cool. The biggest surprise on St Thomas was the high costs of taxies. While the dingy ride may have been wetter than expected, a taxi ride would have been very pricey. Also, you guys did a fantastic remodel job, and should be very proud.
GBU is by far my favourite watch, been watching for ages and thought I was subscribed because your always at the top of my viewing list…. Now I am subscribed hahaha Love your work guys always something that brings a smile to the dial
Can't wait for the spring to kick in so I can go in the water. Up in the east coast old man winter keeps us high and dry. Thanks to you both I never lose that enthusiastic feeling over the winter months, thank you for that!
You guys are amazingly handy. It seems like you can tackle anything that comes up. Including improving on your previous efforts. I wish I could be half as capable as you two.
Doors to the cabin are waaay better, even looks like intentional design that the tops follow the cabin roof line when open.👌 Are you going to use a clacker or a magnet maybe to hold them open in the swell? All this stuff is standard debugging after a major refit. Nobody's perfect although you guys come closer than most!
The interior is one of the best renovations , minimalist with the knack of putting things away. As for the doors, different hinges will work OR have it top hinged and slide it under the hatch ; maybe
Well Captain Matt and dear Kristen, you did it up right captain. All went fairly smooth and bring bear out more often, love that cat. Like your stop offs at the various Islands. Keep looking pretty Kristen, Bueno noches.
You guys crack me up! Great video, Matt wins the Pops demo. Kristen, get a foul weather jacket and make a garbage bag skirt for those wet dinghy rides. You can reuse the skirt. 38 years experience... You guys ROCK and remember, no regrets, just learning. Cheers! Di (Dave's wife)
Love your videos, your sink needs mildew resistant caulking around the rim of the sink (between the sink and counter top). This will prevent water damage on your pressboard.
About fan placement - we took a small plastic box (from Daytimer products) and put a sm 12 v battery in it, cover back on with holes to match the battery's terminals and attached the Hella fan on top. It could be moved anywhere it was needed. I was extremely pleased with it.
You can attach the family to the track lighting strip. That way you can run the wires thru that strip and hide everything. You can make a hollow round mounting block if you want the fan a few inches lower.
Nice fixes Larry Lam. I spend hours imagining good simple workable hardware solutions to annoying things and when they come to me I usually slap my forehead and wonder why it took me so long. Love the funny love chemistry you guys mix up too.
Great video! Love how you share the good and the bad! Don’t worry about tan placement - Matt does such clean work, anywhere you need it - put one! And Kristen, love your highlighted hair! You guys are so cute together - nice, wholesome videos! We love them!
Hey Matt and Krista, love the new upgrades. Yes, your boat looks amazing. You guys did a boat load of work. 😁 Was cool Matts dad made a visit and to me, looked like he held his own. WTG pops. Glad you guys got away to visit family. So important. Cheers. Day 1 subscriber.
Love what you've done with the boat! Could you use a computer cover like they do on an office desk cable chase for your ice maker plug? To run it through. I think they come in white.
Entertaining as always. Keep them coming. The boat looks great. Maybe there are rechargeable battery operated small fans that have movable mounting brackets? That way you could mount them wherever you want without wires.🤔🤷♂️
I would probably mount them on the PVC of the ceiling lights. The wiring is already there. Just angle them where needed and where you won't hit your head.
You guys are awesome. Very entertaining and creative. I get loads of laughs following along. You've done a wonderful job on the boat it looks fantastic. Cheers from NZ
One of the many things I love about your guys is that you are 100. And you share it well some of it with us. Your a blessing and encouragement for all your viewers. Keep up the excellent work.
Matt and Kristen, so glad you're having a good time. I'd say you got it 98% right and now you're just tweaking the other 2%. And you're living and learning, a process that never ends. I think we actually enjoy seeing some tools in your hands. Thanks for Sharing!
Cool video this week. Matt’s funny sense of humor came through and his little voices make me smile. The village looked really nice. Your fixes were well done. The wild dingy ride was cool.
Man you guys have done a great job with the boat. You could offer to do design for others. They send you pics of the before and you send back what could be possible and how to do it. Most people just do not have the imagination. Great Video.
Matt, here is a multiple solution for your ice maker power issue. Cut a U shape cutout in the edge of the booze locker cover facing the pantry/storage wall. The hole would be big enough to get a finger in to help remove the cover. Then inside the locker below the outlet in your electric panel, add another outlet. Finally run the power cord for the ice maker through the locker cover and into the new receptacle.
What fun you are! Thank you 😊. Kristen, lovin’ your hair! Fans are very important in a sailboat 🥵Maybe attach some on brackets, or a bending arm attached to your wood trim, as opposed to the laminate. Good luck, you’ll figure it out. Look how far you’ve come ♥️
Two things I might have done differently for your fixes Matt. On the sides of the pull-out for the trash can I would have cut some indentations to grab with the fingertips when it's out a little bit. Closed it would still look the same. For the screen doors on the companionway I would have considered using stainless steel piano hinges. They would have given you the 180 degree opening you want, although it would have involved finding them and spending a little $$.
You guys are great! Not regrets. You just learned the way you don’t like it. Then you fixed it! Awesome. Could you get some hinges that open the door upward? Then you can keep the sleek look and still open your booze locker. Anyway, love the channel!
I have the square sink at home and I agree it is annoying with draining. I see the benefit of the slightly angled bottom to drain better. It’s hard to get everything perfect when making so many changes. I wonder if Kristen could get a spring loaded metal hook to hold in her closet hanger. The door hindge placement change looks great.
You could mount them on the ceiling onto your overhead light molding. Then you would have a chase already there for running the wires. Just a thought. Boat sure does look great. Good luck you guys.
Great video guys. Couple of suggestions. There are RV fans designed to fit over roof hatches which do a great job of pushing or pulling air (reversible air flow). If you could rig something like this up on a roof hatch you'd have air flow throughout the cabin. For the hidden AC outlet. I'm guessing you don't need stuff plugged in all the time so perhaps either design a small trap door in the electrical panel door, or install a small marine screw-out inspection hatch, either of which will allow you to route the electric cord to the outlet, close the electrical panel door, and have access to the booze locker.
That's all to be expected though after actually living with your work. We lived in our tiny house while building it and I can't tell you how many design changes we made after realizing potential problems. We'll be going through it again with our new-to-us tiny sailboat...hope Mitch and I get along as well as you guys in our tiny refit. Thanks for this video, it was very helpful. ❤️
Door above booze locker. Put hinges at top. Add one or 2 of those hydrolic support arms like used on back window of an SUV. Will hold it up, not be floppy, have access to booze locker and be able to have Icee McIcemaker on locker and still have access to outlet.
fans? you have a wire channel with the little lights on the ceiling. run the wire there, and install fans near the ceiling on the bulkheads. The cabinet door over the outlet, change the hinges so it opens to the bulkhead and a magnet to keep it there. Now your outlet and booze locker are accessible most of the time, can close only when you want to look totally sleek! Great job guys.
The boat rocks, no matter what little things you change. One question I have been wanting to ask for some time: how do you secure your boat when you go into town for whatever? what keeps anyone from steeling it? Thanks! Hope to see many more videos in the future.
I'd utilize the lighting tracks that you installed for fans. Consider fabbing a ring with a mount that can be installed under the edge of a light, which would allow the existing wiring paths under the strip.
I’ve slays loved the realness you both have. People aren’t perfect and you both are so genuine. Would love to meet you both if your ever in Savannah. Be blessed and safe on your travels…
No remodel goes completely as expected. I’ve never done a boat, but I’ve done several houses. There are always regrets. There are always mistakes. But at the end of the day if you’re satisfied with the outcome, it’s a success. By the way, your boat is beautiful.
I think the lights were a nice upgrade. Hope you find a way to mount your fans. Maybe you could use/make a surface mount channel to hide the wires so you don’t have to drill through the laminate? Good luck, I’m confident you guys will come up with a way.
I wear a garbage bag until I get where I'm going.
That's hilarious 😂

Things I Love
Your insane drone shots
That you have a kitty on board
When you show a map of where you are and where you’re going
Your sense of humor and how nice you are to each other
You’re always entertaining. I marvel at how “clean” your interior design is and wonder where everything went.
I always picture it piled up directly behind the camera lol.
But every boat has a dumping area, out of sight where all the mess goes
Matt, to access the outlet in the booze corner, just remove the door. It's a cool look and you will have electrical access. You can break up the laminato theme and add visual appeal.
On the fan situation I'd definitely start with an exhaust fan over the stove to suck some of that heat right up and out of Galley area
Matt is hilarious, with a great sense of humor.
Keep it up!
From a dude to another dude.

Myself I was thinking just move the outlet to the door
@@claybornlewis276, Moving an outlet is FAR more work than cutting out a small piece of wood.
Hinge the door up. You can get auto stays (up hold up again & drop) .. or to the bulkhead side.

As already mentioned “lift off” hinges for the saloon doors is the way to go. I also used removable smoked plexiglass window with a screen underneath.
Hang the fans from the light bar/panel at least then you can hide the wires, given the refit is over it's probably the neatest way you can add them.

Should get those swinging doors like they have at saloons in western movies
I'd utilize the lighting tracks that you installed for fans. Consider fabbing a ring with a mount that can be installed under the edge of a light, which would allow the existing wiring paths under the strip.
I’ve slays loved the realness you both have. People aren’t perfect and you both are so genuine. Would love to meet you both if your ever in Savannah. Be blessed and safe on your travels…
Are you aware you have the absolute best, entertaining and anticipated sailing channel on YT???
No remodel goes completely as expected. I’ve never done a boat, but I’ve done several houses. There are always regrets. There are always mistakes. But at the end of the day if you’re satisfied with the outcome, it’s a success. By the way, your boat is beautiful.
I think the lights were a nice upgrade.
Hope you find a way to mount your fans. Maybe you could use/make a surface mount channel to hide the wires so you don’t have to drill through the laminate? Good luck, I’m confident you guys will come up with a way.
Hide usb plugs off the ceiling lights and use a usb fan from Amazon. Super clean and power is already there. Will be clean.
