    If the SA-35’s dovetails are indeed identical to the Tisas’, then the sights for a H&K VP9/P30 will work. I have a Tisas BR9 and use Dawson Precision competition sights for a H&K VP9/P30. They fit perfectly and work great.

    Thanks for your review of the SA 35. I was wondering what your team thought about the SA 35, and I think you have provided a succinct review. Thank you.

    I'm brand new to your channel, just started watching your videos today. I hope Springfield refines their pistol asap! I think it's great that they're keeping the legacy alive. Great channel!

    Absolutely excellent - Mark just oozes deep, well-founded knowledge on the Hi-Power. I'm very interested in the SA-35 and have had a Mk III (without magazine disconnect!) for some years. It's great to be reminded of the operating system of the Hi-Power and what influence which springs have. Interesting info on the sights - my Mk III has stock combat sights. All the best, Rob in Switzerland

    Very good edification. If I am able to secure a SA-35, you have earned my business based on this video alone.

    Very good information. I will buy a Springfield A-35. I bought a Browning high power in 1972 and sold it in 2006. A very good pistol. Lament doing so.

    I was pretty excited about the Springfield HP. But after seeing your review, I am somewhat disappointed in this new model. Especially the sear lever pin and firing pin spring. The fact that the safety lever can be brough up to jam the slide with the hammer down was also surprising. I thought Springfield would have done a better job.

    03:01 I'm sure dropping the slide with the lever is less difficult when NOT attempting dropping the slide on an empty mag, as it's follower actually is actually pushing upward on the slide release lever. :)

      The recoil spring is pulling the slide forward against the magazine follower

    My serial number is just over 2000. I don't find the slide release either sharp or hard to release. Dropping the slide using only the thumb on my right (gripping) hand is easy. Maybe Springfield has made changes already.

  • @nursesteve12

    I had 5 failure to feeds the first 5 times I fired the pistol. Also when I installed a pair of pachmayr grips the magazine would not seat and if pushed too hard would jam in the mag well. I haven't fired it again and it will go back to SA for a tuning.

    I wasn't very happy, in terms of accuracy, testing a new copy, SN around 14,000, if I'm not mistaken. Even at 10m. I tested about 50 rounds of reloaded ammunition, it worked perfectly, but the accuracy disappointed me. I'll test it later with it supported. My biggest practice is with strike-fire pistols. Suddenly I'm the one who's wavering, but my fear is that the finish on the barrel crown isn't perfect (just a suspicion).

  • @MrVulcan1963
    @MrVulcan1963 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I must be missing something. Why would you want to drop the slide with an empty mag in the pistol? Dropping the slide release against an empty mag means you have to overcome the resistance of the magazine spring. No wonder you had an issue with the effort involved.

    • @bhspringsolutionsllc555
      @bhspringsolutionsllc555  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You're not missing anything. It's an observation that should be mentioned. What causes the heavy movement of the slide stop is not the magazine spring resistance but the increased metal to metal friction between slide stop and slide. The sharp edge on the slide stop adds up to the inconvenience. Probably the slide stop manipulation will smooth out during the shooting. We'll see.

    • @Nostradamus_Order33
      @Nostradamus_Order33 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sir, you are correct 💯. I have tested both types. slide stop and slide release buttons, in other pistols, with and without the additional magazine spring pressure from the followers. You would not think it is significant; but it certainly is.

      You say its not the empty mag that is causing the slide stop to be hard to use, but with the mag out of the gun (or a loaded mag in the gun) the slide stop works perfectly. Seems like the empty mag IS the issue.
      Like the comment above, i dont see the need to drop the slide with an EMPTY mag in the gun

    In my observation, I noticed that the extractor goes to a unlevel plain fr rear to ejection port at a little over 1/32 of an inch.Could that causes extraction failure? Let it be known that this on my SA35.

    My trigger has a noticeable “grit” during the 1st bit of pull, just after the initial take-up…so bad that it almost acts as a set trigger…I can pull until I feel the grit (which feels much like a single “click”) and then let off completely…then I can squeeze up the take-up (after let off previous) and I have a wonderful light pull with a clean break (what feels about like 4lb)…I would rank the trigger as damn poor….eclipsed only by my 1st gen S&w s40 whivh was worse ….

    I find no significant issues with my Springfield SA 35 . Jus soothing up the trigger, .as in need on most guns from factory. Its accurate, never fails to go bang, points great , looks great…. What is your point in all this ? You have a small issue with just about every feature in this gun. Again what is your point ?

    Is readily dropping the slide via the slide stop, with an empty mag in the well, an original HP specification? In 40+ years of shooting 1911s and HPs, I've literally never even tried to do it.

    Hey Mark, does the commenter who says sights made for H&K VP9/P30 will fit a Tisas BR9 (or this Springfield clone, evidently), know what he’s talking about?

    • @bhspringsolutionsllc555
      @bhspringsolutionsllc555  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have no idea about the VP9 solution. No idea if the rear VP9 sight is a match for the Tisas rear dovetail. I do know that the dovetail of the VP9 front sight looks extremely small and I'm not sure how that would work out except to say I think there will be lot of front dovetail cut in the slide that will be exposed and not sure how that will be. I have no direct experience with the suggestion, my thoughts here are based on what I've seen in pictures of Dawson's VP9 sights.......

      @@bhspringsolutionsllc555 I’d be happy to email you with pictures of my Tisas BR9 with Dawson Precision’s “Carry Set” sights for a VP9 installed. It’s a similar set up to what Springfield did. It uses a fiber optic front sight and blacked out rear.
