In my opinion, her bankai is just her shikai magnified. Shikais and bankais don't have opposite abilities. The blood released from her sword is like the super regenerative function Mayuri gave to Nemu. The thing that killed Pernida. It's regeration to such a high degree that it breaks things down
@@primeroespadax I think all Bankai's have a "theme" that is twisted from the Shikai. They can be similar or very different depending on the Bankai. Take Urahara's or Shinji's or Soifon's as examples.

His shikai restructures his spiritual pressure while his bankai restructures matter. Shinji's theme is reversed perception. His bankai follows that. Soi Fon's theme is death sentence. Her shikai is death in 2 strikes. Her bankai is death in 1 strike.
What's important to mention - a lot of those bankais aren't weak by default. It's the user and their inexperience that makes the power weaker or straight up unfinished. Which we kinda see with Renji and Zabimaru. And for some - they need training to other techniques to make the bankai usable to full extend with no drawbacks. Like Soifon training her body to the point where she isn't launched after making the shot or Komamura using clan techniques to make himself basically immune to any damage. And that kinda applies to all the swords. When we see Kyouka Suigetsu being used by Tokinada, we learn that the power itself isn't that broken - but it's overpowered only thanks to immense reiatsu Aizen possesses that allowed him to keep the illusions indefinitely. It also makes you wonder - how many of the weaker bankais aren't really true forms of the respective swords. It happened with Renji, it is most definitely a case for Ikkaku as well. Wouldn't be suprised, if it is the case for Soifon either, as she refuses to train with her ability.
I'd personally say there's a bit more of a difference between Hyorinmaru and Sode No Shirayuki. I agree with Rukia gaining thermokinesis with her Bankai, but I think there's more to Hitsugaya's. I think Hitsugaya's Zanpakuto is built around the manipulation of water molecules, influencing them into either their solid form (his default ice) or influencing it in its liquid form (his manipulation of the weather, or the water/ice dragons his shikai creates). Though I also think the second aspect is one that Hitsugaya uses unconsciously or reflexively and isn't totally aware of it, given how little he makes conscious use of it. Also; I often wonder how well some of these bankai would work if the characters didn't explain the ability to their opponents. I can guess that it's done as a means to inform the reader; but I've always felt it's the height of arrogance to explain to someone how you're gonna kick their ass before you've actually kicked it!

Even in the filler arcs! 3rd: I can forgive it in Kyoraku's situation; he probably HAS to explain the games and the play to the opponent; it isn't much of a game if the other player can't even compete. Others are on my hit list though: Rose, Kensei, Ichibei, Gin, and even Kira does that every time he releases Wabisuke! Gin gets a by though because he's at least smart enough to LIE ABOUT IT! Ichibei has no damn excuse; he could've flooded a fight with ink and explained what was going on AFTER he'd crippled someone with Ichimonji/Shirafude Ichimonji! I feel like the lethality of Gin's Bankai is worthy of being in the top 10. It's near unavoidable and can turn even glancing nicks into critical, if not fatal blows with its secret technique. It's not that different from Lille's X-Axis

They're both snipers with instantaneous single target ranged attacks that penetrate any defence (or at least near any defence in Gin's case) and erase what was there before. Lille just erases anything between point A and B, while Gin destroys it at a molecular level.

If CFYOW taught us anything, it's that any Shikai and Bankai can be useful so long as the person whom wields it uses it to the best of its ability. Tokinada was able to make so much use of out of Hanataro's Shikai he could repel even Ginjo's Getsuga's with it. And Shuhei was able to use his Bankai to the best of its ability to the point he defeated Hikone, whom even Kenpachi was having a tough time against. If used properly and in the right situations, even 'bad' Bankai's like Komamura's, Kensei's and Soi Fon's can turn the tide of battle. It's just that some characters, like Soi Fon, don't use their Bankai's very well so the characters themselves and the audience writes them off as 'bad'.
What’s crazy is that “scientifically” Rukia’s bankai could defeat Yamamoto. Even at it’s highest temperature imitating that of the sun, Yamamoto’s bankai still relies on just that, heat. Rukia’s bankai creating a field of absolutely zero, would effectively extinguish even the strongest flame.
Also adult hitsugaya's bankai can freeze anything, even concepts, even fire and any other energy It nullifies Hax and Abilities too It is capable of defeating Yamamoto and his Bankai
I hope that Soi Fon's bankai would improve further in the future. It should follow the principle of her two-hit kill shikai ability. But her bankai would be different. If you survive the sheer blast of her missile, a nuclear fallout would follow completely ensuring that there really is no way to escape the effects of the bankai.
Soifon's is certainly a representation of her loud inner personality, impractical yet don't get hit by it. Still she operates far better with her basic stealth and assassination skills, that and Yoruichi teaching her camaraderie makes her formidable if and when she teams up with someone be it her fellow Stealth Force operatives or others.
Also her wind variant of Shunko is really strong Well all the variants were really strong but regardless it makes her much better in Shikai than using her Bankai
I feel like the Royal Palace and zanpakuto reforging was a perfect opportunity for Ikkaku to get a powerup since his bankai got destroyed by Edrad. Shame he never got something like that
Just my opinion: I think all the vizard captains should actually have gotten evolved bankais due to their hollow-shinigami evolution. Nothing totally crazy, just maybe a sort of next-step. Like maybe Rose's, when his opponent destroys his own eardrums so as to not hear it anymore? He can put his mask on and reveal that sound is the movement of air molecules; and just because you can't hear it doesn't mean there's no air or sound for that matter. Then his final dance hits the target anyway because their body heard it instead.
Kensei's bankai actually seems solid. Shame he got off screened by wonderweiss. I feel like it'd make sense if wonderweiss sealed elemental zanpakuto in general which would explain why Kensei lost so easily
The whole theme surrounding Ikkaku's power is simultaneous offense and defense. His bankai took the offense to a new level but the defense was lacking. I'm guessing it was a sacrificial thing. Either Ikkaku needed to learn how to use the bankai with that drawack or he obtains the defensive power. 1 thing to note is that Zanpakutos don't necessarily have upper limits and can continue to evolve around their theme. Like Shuhei and Rukia who gained shikai hax through accepting and understanding their zanpaluto, Ikkaku could too. What's holding him back might be Kenpachi. Ikkaku is subconsciously a strategic fighter that uses deception and trickery, Kenpachi isn't. He imitates Kenpachi so much that he even suppresses himself too like he did when he fought Ichigo and Moe. Ikkaku is not like Kenpachi but he tries to be and that impacts his bankai which turns out to just be nothing but raw power and that's not a reflection of Ikkaku.
The zanpakuto rebellion and opening of the regai arc showed interesting abilities. In the zanpakuto rebellion, when Hozukimaru fully charged his dragon he released a powerful energy blast that blew up some of his surroundings. In the regai arc opening, when ikkaku fought Shunsui, his bankai showed a fire dragon pattern for a brief second
People do sleep on Tosen’s Bankai bad! If you watch the “Turn Back the Pendulum” Arc you’ll notice that Tosen used his Bankai on the team he was with and beat all of them even Kensei with it lol.

Since the last dance is titled " a heros life" and rose also says this final act is fitting for mask, it seems like he chooses what play best fits his opponent. It seems very unlikely and boring of kubo if rose were to fight somebody like Bambi and use "a heroes life" fire or water on her. in addition, rose lists some things his bankai can do. He says "It can burn or even stop your breathe". It can be interpreted that the third act would have stopped masks breathe and killed him. Most people agree that the third act would have most likely killed mask and stopping his breathe is certainly something I can see doing the job. The anime title card for tybw ep 18 also confirms the bankai leads to death

An important thing to note about Rukia's bankai is that it is totally immature. She's literally just unlocked it and has had essentially no time to train with a technique that could easily kill her. Give her time and she should become far, far more capable of utilising not just the freezing we see but likely also further techniques, as along as she trains. Looking at you, Miss Missile Malcontent.
Rukias bankai can't be higher till she trains it and mitigates its weakness, it seems a lot of people forget bankais need an extra 10 years to master glad you didn't put her bankai higher despite being so powerful

Pretty good list, Bankai are a tricky things to rank. Yet are proof of progress. Though I am curious of which the anime Bankai would rank. I only heard there are two considering how small the list, yet still curious. Probably the lower end or middle of the list.

@@CaptainHavoc Actually took a look, there are two. One is a more enhanced fire type Zanpakto with drastically increased firepower and a little electricity thrown in. A lower end, but the other one is potential alone possibly a top ten. Responsible for two of the anime arcs, one the after effects even with the Zanpakutō destroyed lingering. Truthfully only started watching the anime as I’ve been a manga/novel reader of the series. While I have a ton of compiled knowledge it through the first few episodes alone a complete difference and I am excited to see the concepts in the anime/movie/OVA only capacity….so glad the revived anime is in cours…
Could Shinji potentially use his safe zone to encase his allies? Maybe if they were close enough and if he could increase his safe zone's range he'd be able to make them immune to his Bankai's ability.

For pretty solid reasons that i mentioned in video. It's not renji vs chojiro. Chojiro's bankai is way more useful in my opinion. It's literally the lightning version of toshiro's bankai. And it was powerful enough to leave a scar on Yamamoto when the bankai was still fresh. His banaki is crazy. Renji just has alot of power in his banaki
I don't believe it was ever stated that gin needs to put his hand on the person to use the command to kill with his bankai. It was just a stylistic choice I believe. If he can only use the kill command by placing his hand on the opponent then his bankai should be way lower on the list because thats too conditional of a power and its difficult to satisfy both the condition of stabbing an opponent and also laying hands on them

I had a hard time deciding where i should put gin's bankai. But it probably could have gone at #10. Also kensei honestly could have gone above renji's bankai. I was talking to my discord guys, and kensei's bankai is busted
21 I knew it had to be Ikkakus Its half the strength it originally had It's purely power based (so no hax which already drops its versatility) but hes incredibly weak so there would be almost no chance he overpowers someone who is also a power type It has no protection from hax (which includes stuff like Cero) It has a ridiculous wait time for it to reach (not even) full power and it's not even impressive as its weaker than a ton of Shikai It also has less versatility in how he fights where as his shikai just has a lot more ways of attacking

Isin't in theory Gin can solo Gerard with his Bankai ? since his Bankai's poison is at cellular level meaning you can't regenerate since you'd be n constant loop of eradication. Another thing which makes Gins bankai extremely deadly you never know if it's in Bankai or Shikai form
Ok so im glad you mentioned this. I actually have a couple of ways gerard's fight couple have ended, and it was because of gin's bankai. Because of what you mentioned, i would think gerard wouldn't be able to regenerate and it would have been a great way of ending that fight if gin was still alive. I should have put gin in the top 10.

Ikkaku's bankai being at the bottom of most lists seems wrong.... For one thing if we're just talking about the bankai alone and not the person you using it....than his should be considered top tier and give somebody with little to no versatility who completely relies on fighting spirit viable options it is changed to a more versatile weapon and if renji did not receive an obligatory power up for plot reasons honestly he wouldn't hold a candle to ikkaku.... Beyond that it's one of the few bankai that for a short adds more than a 10 times multiplier to his strength based off it's special move alone
Also we have never seen it's true strength it unleashes it's full power by exchanging blows but has a way shortcut to a weaker version of its full power by simply spinning it around in the air... Which is what he ended up doing... He never exchanged enough blows to unleash the full power
Komamura's bankai is the dumbest thing to me. He creates a slow skyscraper sized hit box of himself. The bankai doesn't even deserve to be on a list of bankai.
No, i am in fact ranking them from weakest to strongest. Strongest doesn't always mean the one with the most power or physical strength. When ranking abilities or characters from weakest to strongest, you need to take in account how strong, how versatile, how useful, and drawbacks. I mentioned this in the beginning of video too. If i was ranking actually just the "strongest" bankai, then someone like Renji, Soifon, and Komamura would be in the top 10. They all have destructive power and abilities
Hisagi's bankai is too high. It's a great bankai but it doesn't help with his fighting ability which for the most part doesn't matter but ut does if his opponent has crazy skills. It's essentially a shikai with equal power to the opponent and he can can be incapacitated without having to die especially by people like Nanana. His bankai doesn't heal but represents the original world where there is no death and recycle
Well, he can insert his Shikai blades into the chain, creating an unavoidable chainsaw attack that continually shreds the target. Whether that be himself, the enemy, or both.
Yea hisagi's bankai is pretty busted. He honestly could even use it on a teammate if he wanted so that they can't die in battle. Super super versatile and super super useful as long as he has one person with him

Then if Rukia fought mask James would cheer, Mask would power up AGAIN, then Rukia would be stuck and dead. Her drawback is wayyyy to crazy, Chojiro has NO FEATS. And I’m sure if Renji went back in time and showed Yama his Bankai it would put more than a scratch on his forehead. Just my opinion: I think all the vizard captains should actually have gotten evolved bankais due to their hollow-shinigami evolution. Nothing totally crazy, just maybe a sort of next-step. Like maybe Rose's, when his opponent destroys his own eardrums so as to not hear it anymore? He can put his mask on and reveal that sound is the movement of air molecules; and just because you can't hear it doesn't mean there's no air or sound for that matter. Then his final dance hits the target anyway because their body heard it instead.

Kensei's bankai actually seems solid. Shame he got off screened by wonderweiss. I feel like it'd make sense if wonderweiss sealed elemental zanpakuto in general which would explain why Kensei lost so easily

I agree. Ikkaku was treated so bad
The whole theme surrounding Ikkaku's power is simultaneous offense and defense. His bankai took the offense to a new level but the defense was lacking. I'm guessing it was a sacrificial thing. Either Ikkaku needed to learn how to use the bankai with that drawack or he obtains the defensive power. 1 thing to note is that Zanpakutos don't necessarily have upper limits and can continue to evolve around their theme. Like Shuhei and Rukia who gained shikai hax through accepting and understanding their zanpaluto, Ikkaku could too. What's holding him back might be Kenpachi. Ikkaku is subconsciously a strategic fighter that uses deception and trickery, Kenpachi isn't. He imitates Kenpachi so much that he even suppresses himself too like he did when he fought Ichigo and Moe. Ikkaku is not like Kenpachi but he tries to be and that impacts his bankai which turns out to just be nothing but raw power and that's not a reflection of Ikkaku.
The zanpakuto rebellion and opening of the regai arc showed interesting abilities. In the zanpakuto rebellion, when Hozukimaru fully charged his dragon he released a powerful energy blast that blew up some of his surroundings. In the regai arc opening, when ikkaku fought Shunsui, his bankai showed a fire dragon pattern for a brief second

People do sleep on Tosen’s Bankai bad! If you watch the “Turn Back the Pendulum” Arc you’ll notice that Tosen used his Bankai on the team he was with and beat all of them even Kensei with it lol.

u forgot to mention that it almost definitely has way more than those 3 abilities. Since the last dance is titled " a heros life" and rose also says this final act is fitting for mask, it seems like he chooses what play best fits his opponent. It seems very unlikely and boring of kubo if rose were to fight somebody like Bambi and use "a heroes life" fire or water on her.
in addition, rose lists some things his bankai can do. He says "It can burn or even stop your breathe". It can be interpreted that the third act would have stopped masks breathe and killed him. Most people agree that the third act would have most likely killed mask and stopping his breathe is certainly something I can see doing the job. The anime title card for tybw ep 18 also confirms the bankai leads to death

An important thing to note about Rukia's bankai is that it is totally immature. She's literally just unlocked it and has had essentially no time to train with a technique that could easily kill her. Give her time and she should become far, far more capable of utilising not just the freezing we see but likely also further techniques, as along as she trains. Looking at you, Miss Missile Malcontent.

Pretty good list, Bankai are a tricky things to rank. Yet are proof of progress. Though I am curious of which the anime Bankai would rank. I only heard there are two considering how small the list, yet still curious. Probably the lower end or middle of the list.

@@CaptainHavoc Actually took a look, there are two. One is a more enhanced fire type Zanpakto with drastically increased firepower and a little electricity thrown in. A lower end, but the other one is potential alone possibly a top ten. Responsible for two of the anime arcs, one the after effects even with the Zanpakutō destroyed lingering. Truthfully only started watching the anime as I’ve been a manga/novel reader of the series. While I have a ton of compiled knowledge it through the first few episodes alone a complete difference and I am excited to see the concepts in the anime/movie/OVA only capacity….so glad the revived anime is in cours…

For pretty solid reasons that i mentioned in video. It's not renji vs chojiro. Chojiro's bankai is way more useful in my opinion. It's literally the lightning version of toshiro's bankai. And it was powerful enough to leave a scar on Yamamoto when the bankai was still fresh. His banaki is crazy. Renji just has alot of power in his banaki

I don't believe it was ever stated that gin needs to put his hand on the person to use the command to kill with his bankai. It was just a stylistic choice I believe. If he can only use the kill command by placing his hand on the opponent then his bankai should be way lower on the list because thats too conditional of a power and its difficult to satisfy both the condition of stabbing an opponent and also laying hands on them

It has no protection from hax (which includes stuff like Cero)
It has a ridiculous wait time for it to reach (not even) full power and it's not even impressive as its weaker than a ton of Shikai
It also has less versatility in how he fights where as his shikai just has a lot more ways of attacking

Isin't in theory Gin can solo Gerard with his Bankai ? since his Bankai's poison is at cellular level meaning you can't regenerate since you'd be n constant loop of eradication. Another thing which makes Gins bankai extremely deadly you never know if it's in Bankai or Shikai form
Ok so im glad you mentioned this. I actually have a couple of ways gerard's fight couple have ended, and it was because of gin's bankai. Because of what you mentioned, i would think gerard wouldn't be able to regenerate and it would have been a great way of ending that fight if gin was still alive. I should have put gin in the top 10.

Ikkaku's bankai being at the bottom of most lists seems wrong.... For one thing if we're just talking about the bankai alone and not the person you using it....than his should be considered top tier and give somebody with little to no versatility who completely relies on fighting spirit viable options it is changed to a more versatile weapon and if renji did not receive an obligatory power up for plot reasons honestly he wouldn't hold a candle to ikkaku.... Beyond that it's one of the few bankai that for a short adds more than a 10 times multiplier to his strength based off it's special move alone
Also we have never seen it's true strength it unleashes it's full power by exchanging blows but has a way shortcut to a weaker version of its full power by simply spinning it around in the air... Which is what he ended up doing... He never exchanged enough blows to unleash the full power

No, i am in fact ranking them from weakest to strongest. Strongest doesn't always mean the one with the most power or physical strength. When ranking abilities or characters from weakest to strongest, you need to take in account how strong, how versatile, how useful, and drawbacks. I mentioned this in the beginning of video too. If i was ranking actually just the "strongest" bankai, then someone like Renji, Soifon, and Komamura would be in the top 10. They all have destructive power and abilities

Hisagi's bankai is too high. It's a great bankai but it doesn't help with his fighting ability which for the most part doesn't matter but ut does if his opponent has crazy skills. It's essentially a shikai with equal power to the opponent and he can can be incapacitated without having to die especially by people like Nanana. His bankai doesn't heal but represents the original world where there is no death and recycle
Well, he can insert his Shikai blades into the chain, creating an unavoidable chainsaw attack that continually shreds the target. Whether that be himself, the enemy, or both.

Then if Rukia fought mask James would cheer, Mask would power up AGAIN, then Rukia would be stuck and dead. Her drawback is wayyyy to crazy, Chojiro has NO FEATS. And I’m sure if Renji went back in time and showed Yama his Bankai it would put more than a scratch on his forehead.
