the Minnesota situation reminds me of my high school team when we had a weekend road trip and we only had 7 skaters. third-string goalie played right wing and a dude that barely knew how to skate even though he was in grade 12 made the trip. even got a goal.
As a Minnesota fan, it's been an absolute disaster this season from an injury standpoint. There hasn't been one single game this year where we've had a completely healthy lineup.
Not calling up Poitras is odd. He’ll make mistakes and doesn’t know how/try to protect himself, but he’s clearly their best offensive center (in both Prov and BOS), and deserves another extended look.
@Seegster77 Whats your definition of tiny? He's listed as 5'11 180lbs. That's like average height and weight 😂 Roughly the same size as a 20 year old Crosby
Ahh, this video explains the Wild game. I haven't followed the games that close, watch some games but mainly get the scores. And was surprised by how decisively Colorado beat them. Not "shocked" because the Avs are really good and have fixed some issues, but still. But this explains it :p
Monahan's injury is likely a wrist injury, was seen wearing a wrist brace after the game yesterday. Guy can't catch a break from the injury bug, especially during arguably his best producing season. Reminder that he has had wrist surgery in the past so hoping for the best for him and minimal time missed.
How does he compare to a guy like seider who was the last dman to win the calder. Seider playing 23:09 a game had 50 points his rookie season as part of the first step of the red wings rebuild and bringing in youth, he had 48 giveaways seider had 161 blocked shots and 151 hits as a rookie and started 49.8% of shifts in the offensive zone according to hockey reference. Hutson is playing 22:38 a game so close to seiders total minutes and is on pace for 60 points, sure 10 points better than seider, but he is joining a team that has already been rebuilding and brought in youth and scorers. Hutson is on pace for 103 giveaways, over double seider had, on pace for 101 blocked shots, 1/3 less than seider had, 42 hits, not even half of seiders hits, and he starts 63.3% of shifts in the offensive zone compared to seider. Here is another thing, seider played penalty kill his whole rookie year playing 155 minutes on the pk. Hutson has played 15 minutes of pk so far through 40 games. So if hutson wants to win calder, he needs to start picking up the physicality and the defensive play otherwise he doesn't deserve it. Plain and simple. Unless celebrini completely falls off of the map or gets hurt, he deserves it.
@JarradBruessel32 different kind of players, Seider and Hutson. Hutson makes plays and sometimes creates them from nothing. Pure offensive guy, but also important puck mover from own end. Hutson isnt going to physical. Its impressive how small and young guy is almost like Canadiens QB.
@BandW1897 seider can be offensive when the wings use him as such, he just usually is busy playing against opponents top players. Again, hutson is only going to produce 10 more points than seider did his rookie year at this rate so it's not that impressive if he is a pure offensively minded defender but can't produce more than 10 points than a guy who was more defensively mind lol. Exactly why he doesn't deserve it. If he was going to put up like 70 points, sure you could make the argument then, but on pace for only 10 more points than the last dman who won it who was better all around? Not that impressive.
@BandW1897 seider btw now in a system that is finally more focused on producing offense is producing a point per game since the coaching change 6 games ago going a +3 as well.
Wolf's numbers are looking good. Better than good, actually. With the age curve on goalies being so delayed I think he should be in the running for that Calder trophy.
@@SteveEaglesI was at the game tonight, I’m a Wild fan and it was certainly something to hear the injury report before the game. A team that’s leaned on its defensive core like a 90 year old and their cane, without its top 3 defensemen…rough night 😂
That's sort of a good thing, Bedard producing is what is expected of him as of right now. We were only talking about him because the supposed generational talent just dropped off for a couple weeks. Now that he's back to being a good player and the Hawks are still bad, there isn't really anything to talk about.
@@mcj44for how he was prompted up as the next mcdavid, he should be doing better than he is and also shouldn't be as horrible as he is at faceoffs. He is the worst in the league for guys with over 150 faceoffs taken this year, and before the winter classic, he was 4% worse than the next worst center at faceoffs. That's inexcusable for a 1st overall pick. So many others who were first overall picks finished at least over 45% their rookie year. His rookie season it was 38.9% and it somehow has gotten worse.
Wild will have like $50m in cap space by the trade deadline at this rate. Guerin gonna trade Dubas 2 7th round picks and future considerations for Crosby and Malkin

The Calder Trophy vote will be an interesting test of which voter bias is stronger, the East Coast bias vs. the 1st pick bias. Voters want to automatically vote for the hyped-up first pick in the draft that year and the 1st pick guy has to lose instead of some outsider winning it. On the other hand, the Eastern players automatically have a bias because they don't play the majority of their games after 10 PM EST. There also used to be a Montreal Canadiens bias, which meant that in any relatively close vote for a trophy, the Montreal guy would always win, which means Lane Hutson should win. That bias may no longer exist since the Canadiens being THE team in the NHL is a long time ago. Still, I think, if he don't get hurt, Hutson's gonna win it, especially if the Habs come close to a playoff spot.
Sprong is a confusing player, because he's capable of scoring highlight reel goal and looking like a guy that should play on the first two lines, but then you come to realize that he can only really shine against the other team's 4th line, and you don't always have room on the roster for that kind of specialization when you're also trying to fill out your special teams and checking lines.
Sprong situation is baffling to me, Kraken have multiple forwards who are in long slumps and Bylsma refuses to play him. No extensive injury list for the team, just wont play him. Im just guessing but id be surprised if he even has 10 games with us this year, and our other forwards play has warranted a better chance to be given without a doubt. Sucks no one took him cause it seems like Bylsma has his mind made up on him and idk why. I cant say he produced when he played this year after looking at the numbers now but the compete level is better than half our forwards, has a decent shot, and has plenty of NHL experience...
