I have steering wheel vibrations/grinding noise when driving just 5mph and it increases with speed. It does sound like humming noise when going 50mph. I’ve showed a video to a community but none of them think it’s the wheel bearing.
Same! I’m highly upset. Took it to the shop they said CV axels (both) and lower control arm need replacement. Would’ve cost me $1500+ to fix, my boyfriend did the job instead, paid $800 for parts. Replacements were done, transmission fluid replaced- STILL the SAME exact problem! Idk if they tried to rip me off or just don’t know what they’re doing. Am wondering if they did all the replacements and heard the sound if they would’ve still charged me :(
@@motorcarnutI am currently having this issue on a Toyota Passo 2014. Jack it I could hear the noise on the wheel, transmission and even the dash board could even vibrate to some extent. Really stressing making a call weather it's wheel bearing or the bearing in the differential. Thanks I will definitely try touching the strut spring❤
I've got a scraping/grinding noise when accelerating and a very loud hum at high speed. Also some squeaky noises which sound like they might be from the belt.
What I did was jack up the front driver's side because that's were I feel a slight wobble and wiggle the axle if there play in it spin the tire of u hear a grinding sound its the wheel bearing thats what happened too me Thursday replaced both sides now drives smooth.
I only get humming or a smooth downshift sound/feel when applying brakes at 50 to 60 mph, when I get down to 10 or maybe 5 mph I get a ticking or clicking sound in the front end, most certain it's in the right side. I'm thing maybe wheel bearings or cv joints or both idk
I’m driving a 2017 Honda accord sport SE. I’m pretty sure for MY situation it isn’t the Wheel bearing. Not sure if you are able help with the description I give out. Normally I drive no noise what so over until I reach 30-35 mph I hear like humming sound from the front - right passenger side tire but when I accelerate more the noise disappears afterwards. This happen while I was doing an alignment for my car I also switch my tire from my rear left driver side to my front right side passenger. Do you believe it could be something with the tire? Or did I might somehow damage the outer tie rode when I did an alignment? I haven’t tried switching back the tires in its original place from when I did the rotation yet.
I'm having this same issue@@motorcarnut except I didnt do an alignment I got new front tires in december bur it seems the sound is progressively getting worse. What else could it be ?
@@motorcarnutI have a clicking noise on my front end only when applying the brakes that I suspected was the wheel bearing but there is no play. It does make a slight click noise when I move the wheel really hard up and down (with front wheels jacked up). Not sure what is causing this… I can also hear the click sometimes going over really bumpy sections of road. My car is a rear wheel drive so I don’t have a cv joint up front.

Post it on your channel and i'll give a listen.
Same did you fix it @stephenxd1376

@@motorcarnut I didn’t notice your comment but it ended up being the wheel bearings. Plus the car transmission went out so now… no car.
That sucks, sorry to hear that
I didn’t know bill burr did TH-cam videos
HA hA
Thank you. Good explanation
You are welcome!

@nathantechnician2475 be careful it’s probably a wheel bearing

Can be the wheel bearing

Yep very common issue.
Does it need to be jacked on all fours tires even if it’s a fwd
Only if you don't know when the noise is coming from.
Sounds like a swoosh with a ring.
What about a clicking noise, like a ratchet when you spin it fast?
Can be something in the braking, steering or suspension systems. Check for play in the front end.
@@motorcarnut Steering shaft?
Not the shaft but maybe the collar or bushings that the shaft rides on.

Yes, both can mimic each other

It's the tires, don't worry, they will eventually wear in again and the noise will go away.

You should always do an alignment when getting new tires so the wear in properly and don’t make noise.
Hub bearing replacement
That’s the fix!
Lol are you Italian? You sound Italian 😂
Sounds more like a New York accent
? How do you tell the diffrence betwen wheel bearing and cv joint?
A CV Joint will make a clicking noise especially when turning. A bearing noise is more like a humming or grinding noise.

There should be no movement up and down meaning in and out.
@@motorcarnutI’m not sure if there is any movement I don’t see anything but there is a slight clicking when I hold 12 and 6 o clock and shake.
What about clunking noise. We just put on a new cv axle and im hearing clunking noises when driving
If both axles are new and installed properly can be something with the brakes or suspension
