Yup when I bought this truck I was handed a box of lemons and then I put the same motor combination in it. Wow it brought this truck to life this thing pops wheelies and it just rips up in the dirt. Great motor ESC combo for this truck, and a 100% improvement. I learned the hard way that you have to feather the throttle. Otherwise it’ll just keep flipping over because it’s got so much torque but I love it. I run mine out for us all the time. The fun comes when you run it across a body of water and it just drives right over the top of water.
I put the mamba X & a castle 6900kv motor only my blackout - I had to change my casters & steering hubs to aluminum due to the 12mm hex balding the insides of all 4 rims - you Volcano is a beast - instead of duck tap buy the 6 pack of Velcro straps 💯 on Amazon $8 , make sure you get the long ones- I used a Dremel and cut a slit where the chasis meets the battery wall & another slit by the drive shaft
Hey I see you had a similar idea lol I went aluminum everything body wise and put a 3670 2150kv brushless motor with an 80A esc. I have added over a half dozen custom extra hard aluminum I had kicking around my machine shop. Had to brace from shock town to tower front to rear to help prevent the chassis from twisting. Just put a short course trophy truck shell on yesterday and she looks sweet but it is a total monster on 4s 7000mah 50c with 90c burst.
That's just crazy Bill... and AWESOME! That thing must be a blast now with the MMX system. It should hold up quite well with the Stampede 4x4 parts too. Can't wait to see what you do with it in the future.
I got the volcano and aluminum chassis with aluminum parts all around, with the cvd's. Running the suprass 3660 3800kv and onyx 80a. 3s lipo. It's insane and tough after all the upgrades. With all that in it, it's better than a stampede 4x4 that's stock and way cheaper with my total cost I have 300$ into it and it's heavily upgraded. When you get a pede you have to still dump money into it and will end up costing 3x the volcano that upgraded
I solve the arm screw falling off by just using a large slim two end screew so the head of the screw is inside and the tip outside so I put a nut at the end and attached with some hot glue...now the only way the steering arm can bend is if the whole thing brakes hahaha
I have the exact same truck. I switched to a 3300kv brushless motor & a 5000 2s 7.4v lipo battery. Pretty fast. I wanna run 2 batteries. I know i will have to get a stronger esc. Metal chassis is good i heard to add weight and less flipping
My GoolRC 120amp won't stop cogging, even when I programed it with the programming card it still won't start on its own, Ugh I was pissed.. So I bought a Powerhobby 80amp and it works great, instant power, no over heating, you would think it was a sensored motor because of the instant throttle response.. I a huge Redcat enthusiast, and that is one killer set-up
Not bad i have madded tgis truck different ways.ive put a 3000kv 3100kv and a 3930kv motor now on 3s goes pretty much same speed .love these trucks.my goolrc esc never burned on me on 3s though.even when getting it wet which i did
Im running mine on a 4370kv 3s lipo with a 33t pinion and aluminum upgrades.. Hitting speeds of almost 70 mph. At half throttle if i smash it it flips over.
Try installing aluminum upgrades... the stability it gets is insane...im also rocking mine at 3s and never have a single wheely, this truck could definitly do 4...or even 6s with the propper tuning,

How do you keep pinion gear from striping, or breaking? I can't keep pinion gears on mine with a 5700 KV motor, my last run took the motor shaft with the pinion... trying a smaller KV to see what happens
@@EdwardHart I never had that problem I love that car I got the leopard hobby 5700 kv and I got hobby wing 60amp some of them come with different systems I would say go to a lower Kv in motor , you might of ran it too hot . Im not sure
@@matthewneufer1758 Honestly the motor never really got that warm, could be that I had a cheap motor / ESC combo, unfortunately that really all that I can find anywhere right now (blame the COVID pandemic), and honestly, I don't mind buying cheaper stuff till I figure out what works. The combo I installed was a Surpass 120A ESC, and correction the motor was a 5200KV, but man I couldn't keep pinion gears on that motor without breaking teeth. I think the last run I made that sheared the shaft might have been caused by the set screw coming loose. The combination of breaking teeth, and loose set screw was what I think caused the shaft to break. I ordered a 2900KV motor, so we'll see how it works out on Friday! lol

I have a volcano on 6s china made 1900kv with Mod1 gears 32/21 with jaco and wheeie bar and still can't keep it from rolling
