No one "provoked" Ukraine to join NATO, in fact they were flat out denied because they didn't reign in their corruption yet. The "joining NATO" is just one of many excuses the kremlin used to start their war. If NATO wasn't even in the area they would have said "Nazis" and "Russian citizens were being oppressed" or one of the other dozen excuses they used. Go back and watch and listen to Putin's speech announcing the invasion. It's painfully obvious.
There are already 2 NATO countries on the border with Russia and have been in NATO for 20 years. If they wanted to put missile bases near Russia they would have done it a long time ago, they didn't need Ukraine for that. Anyone who looks at the facts and thinks this is about NATO is a fool.

All this current situation of (W) in Europe is due to the following: The intention is to keep oil at a high price so the US can make a profit. And force Europe not to use Russian gas so that Russia doesn't get rich and Europe also with cheap gas. If the US didn't put its nose in everything that involved oil and gas, Russia would be selling gas and negotiating payment in Euros or rubles. But the US as the master of the world that holds the world hostage to its policies, imposes the use of its currency, and why? Because if not, the dollars start to be no longer needed and start to return to the USA generating colossal inflation in the USA, an inflation that they have never felt in the last 40 years, as they have always exported their inflation to the world, diluting their creation of unbacked money, as they forced everyone to use their currency for international transactions. So the US creates money out of thin air and keeps the things that are produced and other people keep colored pieces of paper or electronic digits. That sounds like a good deal to me.
It is in the interests of the US to screw Europe and Russia, because if Europe gets cheap gas it interferes with the price of international goods and the US cannot make a profit from the price of cheap gas. This is one point. The other point, Europe would be able to have more durability for Russia to produce with cheaper energy as well as it would get richer selling its gas in greater quantity from Europe, and that chats. And the third point was mentioned at the beginning of the text, the dollars would return to the US causing that house of marked cards to collapse. That's why Europe is hostage to the USA.
The US must on the bluff, and as it is about to collapse by 2025 public debt exploding, birth rate falling, abandonment of the dollar in commercial transactions..., before they collapse they will make the others collapse first. My only regret is for Europe, it will be devastated. Because the oil goes, without transport, without problems and without using it, without planting, without harvesting, without fertilizers... and the purchasing power of the entire population is stolen by the continuous system without fraudulent ballast created by bankers. And before emigration happens to other countries that will still have oil and the economic situation still working, they will reduce the p0pulati0n, which is one of the long-standing deep state agendas and which has not been as effective as they would like, which it remained to be more effective in choosing the tools to solve this “problem” and breaking it to earn money with new pandem. and milit4ry expenses. of States before the inevitable global monetary economic collapse before 2030. The birth rate is below the replacement level that would be below 2.1 children per woman, when you go below this birth rate the economy and public spending will have problems and the country's currency will suffer high inflation mainly after 18 years from the moment when the birth rate drops below 2.1 children per woman. Because 18 years after this decline would be the moment when young people would enter the job market and contribute to the collection of taxes for the public machine, as these children were not born there the public debt will rise and with that the inflation/loss of the power of currency purchase. In the main countries that are the strength of the world economy, except India, the birth rate has been below 2.1 children per woman for many years or decades. This generates high costs for the States with civil service, public security, public health expenditures, as the population is living longer and consuming resources without producing. The pension system is a pyramid system where it needs new entrants into the job market to pay the retirement of those who are already retired, as less than what is needed to keep the system standing for many years, collapse is inevitable. . So it's just absolute chaos all over the world. Public debts are exploding, the monetary system after the breaking of the money ballast in gold is a fraud, it is a corpse that was not buried, and now we are in the last days of this pyramid system that bankers created to enslave humanity, this is not It's an exaggeration, that's exactly what it is.
Everything will fall apart, but first they will make the money that still has value go into their hands, just as they did with the pet and the sting, now the milit4ry expenses. from European countries for the money to go to the owners of the world and to break that clean in the amount of humans that would cause and die anyway because of the end of oil that they would put in a situation of unemployment, cold and hunger. They will gain from what in a paradoxical way they will do. “To be an enemy of America can be dangerous, but to be a friend is fatal.” - Henry Kissinger.
Saudi Arabia must use the dollars and accept the (renminbi/Chinese money) to transact the oil sold to China will make the dollars in to the US causing colossal inflation in the US. And India oil will make payments in Indian Rupee or Russian Ruble on gas and transactions. This is a cascading movement where several other countries will de-dollarize. Do you remember what happened when Saddam Hussein wanted to do the same? He received a ticket to the spirit world. The US invented that they had things they never found on Ir4q. Geopolitics have already picked the pieces on their side. The US will not fall apart quietly. The US must pay for all the harm it has done to the world, enslaving and forcing all humanity to use its unbacked currency for international transactions, after the theft of the gold that backed the money made by Richard Nixon in 1971. Os EUA são um caminhão de lixo, maybe you do not know or do not movies, but that's because the American doctrine and by the Statue of Liberty.

Gas power plants make up a big part of electricity production, most European nations closed coal plants over the last years because of emissions.
Renewable are gaining market share at record speed though... In my country we have to "dump" power on the European grid in Sunny weekends because we produce more renewable energy than we consume.
A second problem is electrification, a lot of applications that we used to use fossil fuels for are now electric, this pushes demand for electricity but most days renewable electricity cant keep up yet driving prices up... Its a temporary problem but a real one this winter.
Unlike what the media says there is an upside too.. people that installed Solar Systems on their houses get the payed the higher rates too for their production which in turn makes more people install those systems which should drive prices down again.

Due to fracking America produces far more natural gas than we can use. In fact, even with the extraordinarily efficient pipeline systems and switching most of our coal to natural gas and exporting to neighbors, excess natural gas is flared and you can the flares from space (it looks like a major metro area). Natural gas is a waste product, and it is relatively cheap and reliable source of relatively clean energy.
So of course America is going to help the Europeans by doing what we can to send them excess natural gas. Otherwise it would just be flared, helping no one.

So, what does subsidising the price do, other than keep demand high & lead to blackouts?

Whoa, you tell me I have to turn off the light when not needed and do stuff that is good for the environment? Oh, damn... Armageddon is around the corner.
India probably should overcome this spitefulness over this situation and think about the consequences. 20% of Indias exports go to the EU. The high prices will change that. Another 20% go to the US... the high inflation will change that. India is not immune to the crisis. You are sitting in the same boat, you just have not noticed yet that your feet are wet.
Oh, it probably is also worth to mention that a good amount of Asian countries also are not doing to well atm.
To talk about Dark Ages can only be a joke. No gas storages are not depleting, for months already they are being filled even without the Russian gas. Currently more than 83% is filled (with increasing tendency and plenty of time left). Heating with wood btw. is nothing unusual. There are plenty of modern heating solutions based on wood (a renewable source of energy).
A 1.7% contraction of GDP certainly is not nice but it is not the worlds end. The financial crisis in 2008 did lead to a GDP contraction of more than 4%, followed by a significant economic growth in the following years. Btw. in 2020 India had a GDP growth of -8%... tell me about your dark ages!
The claim that the EU is generally moving to buy gas from the US is also total non-sense. It is what has to be done atm, but it is not set to be the long term solution. e.g. Germany and some other European countries will put much more focus on renewable energies and speed up the the construction of the necessary infrastructure and shifting more to hydrogen as energy source. Contracts for that already were signed. Gas most certainly still will be needed but when the situation has calmed down again the price will be the deciding factor again where Europe gets its gas from.
To be honest I don't really understand Indias economic decisions in that matter. About 50% of Indias exports go into countries which decided to actively support Ukraine. Less than 1% of the exports go to Russia. The situation with Indias imports does not look that much diffferent. Whatever negative economic effects happen to Europe and the US, India will get its fair share of the ripple effects. High energy prices in Europe and US will lead to inflation, this will then result is lower spending capacity which then results in a significant collapse of exports in nations such as India and China. And that starts a cascade of own negative effects in these countries. It's a global market, that is how it works.
To smile into the camera when talking about economic problems in other countries is just outright stupid.
