I am Taiwanese, thank you for this introduction video of Taiwan, the information from the video is fairly correct besides 2:49 . Chiang Kai-shek did bring gold to Taiwan to rebuild financial system in order to feed their 1.5 million refugees which retreated with him from China, but their gold and other assets are far from enough, therefore Kuomintang release New Taiwan Dollars to exchange Old Taiwan Dollars, and exchange rate was 40000(OTD) to 1 (NTD), by doing this, Chiang Kai-shek transfer whole Taiwanese‘s private property into their state owned assets. We Taiwanese DO NOT appreciate Chiang Kai-shek at all, their Republic of China’s government would disappear without Taiwanese’s contribution.

Actually it is futile to resist the CCP Borg of China unless Taiwan has a few Thermonuclear bombs on hand to protect its sovereignty. That being said Taiwan will be simulated into the Collective of the CCP. Sad but true. Taiwan is too close to China to fight any resistance of the Evil CCP Borg's. ☝🤖

American here, we know all about rebelling against tyranny. One of our founders said “These are the times that try men’s souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like Hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph,”
I hope this inspires Taiwan as it did us

Fair enough you don’t like Chiang Kaishek. Neither do I. But you better recognise your heritage. If you don’t want to be Chinese, fair enough. Get the hell of the island. Migrate to somewhere else. I also just watched a perspective from an American, who mentioned should war break out between China & Taiwan, the odds are extremely high that India will take advantage of that and cross into Tibet..., there are so many scenarios that could unfold should conflict break out. Hopefully everything stays as is, and the Taiwanese are left alone and continue to live their own lives, as is the status quo ..

In early 90's, he finally was allowed to come back home, HuNan province, located in East center of China, but everything changed. His mother was dead long time ago. (His father was dead even when he was a kid). All his brothers were dead too. He only saw his oldest brother's wife. This is a tragedy in Chinese history and for his generation. The world has 8 choke points and controlling the open ocean around Taiwan means that China cannot get its navy out to protect things like oil tankers. If China cannot control the pacific and Indian Ocean choke points or at least keep them open they can be put under any kind of sanctions any time.
Imagine they are restricted from oil and mining equipment like NK.

I really enjoy this channel and Palki's reporting. It is reporting that is factual, concise, informative/educational, and done without the opinionated and sensationalized commentary like that of Western journalists that is often inaccurate, incomplete, misleading and designed to stir listeners' emotions and sway them in a particular direction.
Western (U.S.) news organizations' preoccupation with ratings has led them to behave like entertainment news/talk show hosts instead of factual news reporters. Their reporting has become propagandized. Instead of journalists presenting facts and well-researched information that informs and educates their listeners about an issue, they pick sides of an issue and spin the news in such a way that over time their listeners will only believe that side of the story. And they disparage those with differing viewpoints.

Learn not to sell in a panic when everything goes down and not to buy in euphoria when everything goes up. I advise y'all to forget predictions and start making a good profit now because future valuations are all speculations and guesses. The market is not predictable and you can not tell if it's going bearish or bullish. While myself and others are trading without fear of making a loss others are being patient waiting for the price to skyrocket. What surprises me every time is how quickly "people's opinion" can change, depending on what you feed them. Self determination is more or less an illusion, that the education system or the media can easily manufacture, some times over a decade, some times over night. When someone says "the people want", a lot of the times it really means what the elites want the people want, and most people are conditioned into what they want even if they don't want it before.

NO government controlled most of the island before the Japanese came here in 1895 as until then more than half of the island was under tribal Aboriginal control. It’s fascinating really to see that there’s a lot of similarities between Russian revolution led by Lenin and Chinese revolution led by Mao. Both of them rose onto power because people hated the military dictatorship that oppressed them however rather than becoming a wise and merciful ruler they became tyrant themselves and even unleashed terrors worse than their predecessors. So yeah had they became a better leader I am pretty sure Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America would have been under Sino-Soviet rule but since they are both an awful leaders they are now just gonna be a footnote in history of how to not be a leader.

Your observation has basis. Governments of any type including Authoritarian can be considered products of the people themselves. If the population is used to tyrants, tsars and strong men, that may be the type of governance they are used to and prefer. The people often would feel unsafe if their leaders didn't appear strong and willing to bully others... Just as little bullying as possible of themselves or not enough to make them suffer too much.
This has been a failing of American Diplomacy for most of the past 100 years, a product of the Cold War was American evangelizing democratic institutions and liberal democracy not recognizing that wasn't what the people wanted. Afghanistan is an example where the people have always lived in tribalism. Another was Iraq where the people wanted to be ruled by a theocracy, American politicians who aren't necessarily skilled at anything other than to become elected couldn't conceive that people are used to living under different conditions and might prefer those over American ideals of liberal democracy,
For most of the past decade, American leaders are less evangelistic which is why there is now a shift from trying to install democracy in places like Afghanistan to supporting places where democracy is wanted like Ukraine. It makes a lot of sense and should lead to more successful diplomacy recognizing that some people are ready for democracy and others aren't.
