Yeah Europe never cut off Russian purchases and Russia has made Europe to get what it can anywhere possible. Russia and China are working together, so only makes sense that China is looking to profit.
The thing about weaponizing gas, is that you can do this only once. and now its done. Russia will take a hughe loss when it needs to invest in enourmos new infrastructure to be able to sell its gas/oil in the same quantity as they are used to. And having only one possible customer means much lower prices.

Demand will go down, because it's a global recession we're heading for... also, on the supply side, they keep nuclear plants open, plan even more, think about burning more coal again, that's not good for the environment, but it does get the demand for gas and oil down.

Imdia is one of those countries that imported discounted Russian crude oil, refined them and then exported the refined oil to EU nations...
In the end everybody gets what they want, I guess, India and China work at a break even, they get cheaper oil from Russia (pre war prices), Russia loses, because they have to sell cheaper, Europe loses, because they have to pay higher prices...
Actually the prices are stabilising already because the market discovered this loophole too.
Yeah that has been mentioned in the report already.
So there is no supply problems in oil and gas. Only nations buy oil and gas at higher prices from other nations, instead of direct supply. Since enough supply of oil and gas, then why oil and gas market price their oil and gas so high? Businessman earning profit at the expense of poor and speculation in oil market and in gas must stop.
Actually the tide is already turning now the initial uncertainty starts to wear off, new supply routes are established... on one side China and Russia, probably also India will be punished for being in the wrong camp, so they can have some profit, but that will be reduced by sanctions in the future too.
Then as you say, the real supply didn't change, but the higher inflation and intrest rates cause a recession reducing the real demand, add to that extra low domestic need from China and Russia, and soon India... and the prices will probably end up lower than before corona soon.
Saudi Arabia is doing the same thing with Russian Oil, they buy it at below market prices and say they use it for domestic use and sell it to Europe to make a nice profit just from transferring the oil to Europe from Russia
LNG purchases from China are a TINY MINISCULE INSIGNIFICANT amount of the gas compared to what Russia would have sent via pipeline but you are correct energy laundering is a sketchy business!

How will people of Europe live without heating their apartments. May be there will be no winter at all which the Heads of different nations know very well in advance. Heat generated by war is already melting Arctic ice. Hence Europe may have no winter or very mild winter.
You are only looking at a short term solutions, no one can tame these aggressors. In the long term they will attack your country whether you like it or not. Sitting back or taking a defensive or passive approach, only give them more leverage. Sooner or later they will encroach on you.

Acutally, Putin would be able to sell at better price if he was still selling to EU. This way, china makes a profit, EU takes a loss, Russia takes a bigger loss, and EU get time to get rid of its dependence on Russian Oil and gas so there is nothing stopping us from sanctioning Russia until they withdraw from Ukraine or seizes to exist as a state.
It's not true that US had only two options. They had a third option. Bringing Ukraine and Russia back to the negotiation table.

silly comment. Europe is dealing with a problem in Europe caused by a European country invading another European country. This is not an issue for China/Africa/Asia/India to get involved in - unless those regions WISH to be involve like China and India have. Well, we can recognise an enemy when we see one. I can’t imagine Europe and America going long term without Russian oil and gas. They have energy needs so they will buy indirectly now and later buy directly. They built the infrastructure pipelines so long term they cannot abandon everything.
We dont 100% rely on russia so USA is good, import from russia is only 8% for oil and gas we can find other ways to make up for that 8%, europe on the other hand......

They also think that buying solar panels and wind turbines from China, whom buys it's resources from Russia, makes them independant from Russia.
I don't know about this guy above but in my country 90% of homes are heated with natural gas and 97% of cars are not fully electric. Many industry and small business rely on natural gas. The electric grid is already maxed out, theres no personel, no materials. We havn't even mentioned planes/ships, not sure if they have to become "green" aswell..
The people who are supporting this energy transition usually have solar panels/electric cars/heat pumps/house battery's etc. themselves, they don't think about the rest. (The large majority that don't have these things and can't possibly afford them, if the electric grid were even upgraded that is) They don't seem to do much thinking in general, they just buy into whatever the government and the media tell them and start repeating it. Some have probably litteraly bougt into it i pressume, investing in green energy projects and such, so now they have to push this thing.
