    Do I need a solar charge controller to use a 12v leisure battery to power a 4g CCTV camera? Or is there a way to just hook up to the 12v without the inverter box you said drains the battery haha sorry for the complicated message 😅 also would it make a difference if I bout a solar powered or mains connection CCTV cam? TIA

    Hi Chris great video, very informative. I have a question regarding the wifi router...is that powered from your home or the shed? I need to install wifi in a offgrid area for my cameras to work and looking for advice on 4g routers. Any info would be much appreciated.

      The WiFi router is in the house, the DC to DC just runs two cameras, I've added a second. The setup still works. I suspect you can run the router via a DC to DC. Just get the right voltage! Don't some 4g routers run off USB like a phone? That would work 😁

    well done. i just picked up a handfull of 320ws cameras but also needed to extend mesh wifi (eap225) which requires 24v passive poe. so im going to a 24v batt with charge controller that has usb out. then usb to 9v up converter while i can power my jacobs parts poe injector with 24v with 2 7ah batteries panel controller i'm at $225 all in including a camera + mesh AP for each station.

      How is it working? I got this to power passive 24v POE with a 12v battery, will see how it works.

    Hi there just watched your video on the off-grid camera you say your plug socket is 9 volt. Mine says it is 12 volts 1 amp does that mean I can plug it straight into a 12v battery. thanks Mike

      It looks that way, maybe check with a volt meter first from the 12v power supply. But don't see it being an issue. I made that video some time ago. Mine are still working. Now have two camera's on my DC to DC 9v.

    Hi great video, how much did the whole system cost if you were to power two cctv

    • @SolarPowerChannelwithChris
      @SolarPowerChannelwithChris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, depending how much sun your panel gets. But the system would be pretty small. The cameras pull next to no amps. Very effect, it would be a small solar system. A panel, battery, solar charge controller and a DC to DC converter. All pretty cheap things.

    At the end how many cameras you connect to a singles DC-DC power converter (12v-9v 2A 18W)?

    Is this make of camera easy to connect to the internet so it can be viewed on a phone?? Is the SD card pre installed. I've had a couple of other makes and both had problems with connection and installing the SD card.

      The TP link camera, my old man has two. He loves them, so I got two of them. Been really impressed. They have micro SD cards which you format when you install the card (bought separate). The app works really well and reliable. The only thing you cannot do is download the footage. You would have to screen record on your phone. But you can see all your old movement history in the app on a time line. it's quiet sensitive so you never miss much. The reviews I've noticed on battery camera's ones, they miss stuff. Two way audio works well. TP Link are just bringing the camera out in 2k, I have the 1080p which I got in the sale. I was not going to do a review as my channel is not a gadget channel but solar based and battery products.. But yeah, I would put my name to it. Needs WIFI as the camera's have there own IP address.

      You format the SD card in your camera's you bought? I do it in the app.

    What would I need to do to make this work with my 24vdc system?

      Can you get a dc dc 24v to the voltage you need? The same what I have done just a different converter. I now have two cameras off my solar system.
