1:54 - Audio in Source is an absolute pain. Although the audio is really quiet for you, it might be horribly loud for a different player, and then another player might be hearing it at a completely normal level, while another person might be outright not hearing any of it at all. Don't ask me why this happens, but it's insanely stupid and annoying to deal with as a level designer. I remember modifying the weapon firing sounds slightly, to make them less ear-grating without actually reducing the perceived loudness, and the end result was that it sounded perfect on my end, but barely audible on a buddy's end. It was even sent to professional sound engineers to be tested - people who use **professional audio equipment** for a living - and it still had wildly inconsistent volumes for them. Sound design in source is both unintuitive _and_ downright frustrating to work with, cause half the time it just doesn't work how it's supposed to.
I'm assuming it's due to how the audio cache works? wonder if selecting a different "Default format" like 16bit 44100hz and disabling audio enhancements would fix it. never tested though
@@FebruaryWashington From my experience, even using different settings or properties doesn't help with consistency. As far as I know, it only seems to affect custom sounds, so it may be an inherent issue with the files not being natively part of the official game (Custom models and textures can also have unintended consequences cause of that), but I'm not an audio design expert, so I can't be certain.
Yeah I had the same issue in L4D2 where I'd have the same length, bitrate, and bits as a replacement sound for L4D2 but it'd still glitch out ingame :(
This campaign is so crazy, feels like a different game with how it's story telling is presented. An incredible attempt at a custom campaign story. I almost wish more would try this approach.
Dude you are seriously one of the best l4d2 channels. A side note but I didn't even know there were l4d2 tournaments until it recommended me it, theyre super entertaining! Thanks for the content
Seeing as I realize you are a Darkest Dungeon fan/player. I'd honestly would love to see a nonsense video for the Bloodmoon difficulty in that game as there's some good complaints I feel you can levy to it. One being that stuns become way more needed then ever
I completely agree with you on this one. I really love this campaign due to its unique approach, but its mid functionality just drags it down that it simply cannot be ignored. That being said though, the holdout finale on the good ending is dogshit. The massive difficulty spike came completely out of fricking nowhere.
Wow! I didn't expected for you to take request. Much appreciated. As always great and insightful review. Also really informative, as I never managed to get the good ending. Also personally I am not fan of story. Like why this helicopter was chasing and attacking us? Who's that bleeding out guy? Nick's imagination? Again, great video as always ^^
2019's part 1 is miles better. It's one I'll always gladly replay and have a good time doing it. This however, is a one and done scenario. While very cool and unique with how the story is presented it really doesn't do well with replayability.
Next try out 2019 II: The Blartening. Same developer took this project and turned it into a bizarre comedy featuring Paul Blart Mall Cop and a whole bunch of gameplay gags
Is it me or i missed something?? As far as I know, since I haven't played the map for a quite a long time so I don't mostly remember the whole thing. At Nick's bad endings, there was the 3rd "ending", it is where Nick returns to the safe room and pulled the trigger.
Exactly. And they become frustrating if you die, even one time. I only consider them acceptable if they're momentary, necessary for players to keep track of what to do, & stop zombies while they're playing or they play at the end of a chapter when you've already won. The Resident Evil campaigns use scenes well.
@@FreneticPotato Yeah, but sticking to the core gameplay of *Left 4 Dead* isn't the goal of a campaign meant to recreate entire Resident Evil games. Personally I'm similarly annoyed by those map's gameplay at times, but they're still fascinating to me for the technical ability and how unique they are. (I do NOT like the RE1 map though, feels the most jank and has the meanest hazards in my opinion)
Its almost like if 2019 part 2 and 2019 part 1 were made by completly different map creators. part 2 just feels amateur in comparision to part 1 (which if anyone has played it would know) is such a refined and solidly designed campaign with amazing visuals.
2:20 to be honesr the custom audio for the dialogue wasn't low on my end, altough i played the map a long time ago before the last stand update but i don't think the update would had affected custom audio, so i guess from what another comment said, was pure bad luck Also the map worked fine with me even having alot of addons enabled, im guess it was the time that might had broke the map ? Specially considering this map was made a long time ago from what i can remember
Isn’t conventionally good endings in games require you to do something extra, while the bad endings would just require you doing bare minimum, if not less? (For example the Far Cry franchise and you waiting in the beginning, those are considered the bad endings)
Main reason why the map hates Admin System is because it fell victim to the VSLib curse. VSLib is a script library of functions made by Rayman that he uses for Admin System and his other mods, supposed to provide a simpler codebase to work with. I'm sure he made it with good intentions, but as time went on the library's conflict-happy nature reared it's ugly head. Mods often included their own copies of VSLib in themselves which was necessary to make them work as standalone, but this resulted in horrible conflicts where one version of VSLib would override the other, made worse if you used more mods coming packaged with their own VSLib. - Bits and pieces of VSLib copies would remain and cause issues with the winning VSLib copy, making a frankensteined VSLib that cannot work properly. - Sometimes the winning copy of VSLib is an older version, which wrecked havoc with newer VSLib-dependent mods. And because some authors could go inactive and abandon their mods, older versions of VSLib remained in those abandoned mods. 2019 2 is one of them, containing a very outdated version of VSLib that causes the current Admin System to kill itself as it can't work with an outdated VSLib. Even today people are still experiencing issues as these old VSLib mods essentially became buried landmines from a past war, and some of them are still relevant enough to get people subscribing to them. TL;DR VSLib is a demon in angel form, and 2019 2 fell victim to it.
@shadowysn The other author is still active but the creator apparently not. They should update to the latest version of VSLib. Oh yeah, I did install VSLib and it was fully working, so that's why the map won't load any chapters only Chapter 3 works lol. Is it possible to update the VSLib of the map by yourself or the creator?
@@JBALwastaken One of the creators updating the map would be the best outcome, but since they haven't even checked it in years creating a mod to overwrite the troublesome old VSLib files is the alternative. I haven't actually gotten to testing if that works, but in theory it should, mod files that aren't part of a campaign take priority over mod files that are part of a campaign.
I had to uninstall this campaign because of the fact how at first, Nick kept coming out as an error in the beginning and when I finally got to fix it, there's the audio cutting out for some reason
12:03 i guess here since they on a dead end and the escape route blocked off the 3 remaining would had eventually being overhelmed even if abusing mele xD specially considering the way they couldn't go back either so yeah there was no way they would had been able to get out and from the second bad ending, considering there isn't a posible way to do custom animations to the survivors for a cutscene (at the time of the making of the campaing as far i am aware, considering glubtastic 4 does have really smooth animations for being a troll map xD) so i assumed nick falling down was just being tired, laying down and accepting his faith and wait for eventually being swarmed by zombies or being killed by the nuke considering how the good ending shows the nuke going off and with part 3 showing that there wasn't much of a chance of survival being on ground zero of the nuke trapped in a bunker with limited supply's and infested of zombies on unexplored areas of the site
I tried playing this once but there were always special infected around during narrative sections & scenes so it was basically unplayable & I couldn't even pay attention to the dialogue because of the zombies. Then, I reached a part where it wouldn't progress so it really was unplayable. When I could watch the scenes though, I just found them mind numbing.
Kind of sucks how the map is broken due to the story elements. 2019 part 1 is one of my favorites due to how well mutations work on that map. The sequel just barely works in general.
What do you guys think about I hate mountains campaign, personaly its 10/10 like its not as great as daybreak but it feels like a classic l4d1 campaign, i think it would be a great replacement for last stand
I never played this part of 2019, only the original and then 2032 The original 2019 was pretty okay it was just... Kinda empty in my opinion 2032 was a mess since we were playing on expert because of the finale thing we had to organise and like throw medkits down to the drop so we could use em after weve been downed because there was just that many infected
