Have you verified that the 100mpg indicator is correct by testing the level of petrol from full to empty or are you just accepting the digital figures for what they show
Actually have verified that if ridden below 55mph you can get 100mpg against fuel left in tank 12L will do over 220 miles , but this is not start stop traffic such as around town.
I think they should only be adjustable when the engine is off , that would make it safer and less distracting, you could keep basic ones like trip or distance as I know folk like these available for knowing when to refuel
