How a 300cc ANYTHING gets to 85mph is a triumph in itself. Quite good speed for a 300cc engine.

Storytime: For a relative's Wedding, I drove my mom's Mustang from Milwaukee, Wi to Denver, Co. That car was used to mom's driving -- at 'grandma speeds' -- she never went on the highway, _ever_ . So, I'm driving on interstates, and that Ford Mustang just Would.Not.Go! I was flooring it and it just would NOT get up to 70mph! I felt as if I needed to get out and push! Well, after about 200 miles or so of sluggish performance, the car was finally able to run properly at Interstate Speeds! Her car was not even close to new; but she had been driving at exclusively 30-ish mph. A couple of weeks after we got back from the trip, mom told me that her car "never ran this good"! Her car, like your bike, had automatic transmission. Don't 'baby' your bike -- but follow any break-in periods the mfr. recommends. After that -- KICK it!
My Understanding: There are tiny carbon deposits that build up over time at the top of the compression stroke. When you want to go faster, the piston stroke stretches _very slightly_ . It then takes time at higher speeds or RPMs to wear these deposits away; or if a new engine, it just needs time at higher RPMs to break itself in.
I hope this helps. Comments from others welcome.

There's a reason even race vehicles run faster at some tracks than others, mostly based on environmental factors. Air temps, humidity, barometric pressure differences etc...even when vehicle set up is identical to the "faster" locations.
When I saw the title, I was expecting a blown part to happen. (glad it didn't)

Two items: 1. How did you check speed on the first run?
    2. Did you check tire pressure before this run?

    • @slowridersmotovlog201
      @slowridersmotovlog201  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

I used the speed app on both runs. I’ve tested the app lots of times and it’s true to the tachometer on the bike. I didn’t test pressure good point.

@@slowridersmotovlog201 Good Good! Ok then, did you do the test run at the same place? Could have been slight diffs in slope, headwind or tailwind? Recommend doing speed and fuel burn tests in an out and back road to avg out any differences.

    Dan,
I think you first tested in the spring when the air temperature was considerably lower.
Cooler denser air will produce more power than hotter thinner air because the oxygen component is increased in cooler air.
This is the whole reason for putting efficient intercoolers on turbo charged engines. The cooler they can make the intake air, the more power they produce.
You were probably in hotter thinner air this time around. Even putting an intercooler on your naturally aspirated engine will pick up maybe 3hp and that will likely give you back around 3-5mph.
When you get a cool crisp day this coming autumn, try this again and you will likely do around 95mph.

@@slowridersmotovlog201That's all I could ever get out of my adv 150. It would hit 62,63,64 mph and then the engine would start cutting out in an annoying jerking manner. I don't understand why it would be like that, it seemed to have plenty more power on tap. My local yamaha dealer brought in three xmaxs this spring. I traded the honda in for an xmax. Definitely a more competent bike. The Dunlops are pretty good on most roads but they could be better. Going to put some pirelli angel scooter tires on it next spring. It's November in Wisconsin, I have plenty of time to change the tires.

The 2018 125cc xmax can top these speeds, but they have put a lower powered engine in the euro 5 125 and now only tops 65mph, they have probably restricted the 300cc in someway also

u need too change your roller to dr pulley sliding roller or round roller also will be good.. depends on your weight too... if u want fast get a light roller example 16grams x 6 and your the front pulley and rear clutch pulley to after market. try to change the clutch shoe to after market brand Daytona carbon clutch u can feel slightly improve of the speed. if u want fast pickup change to light roller and if u want top end speed get the heavier roller. i think stock roller size is 17grams each. then your torque spring ( rear middle spring) change to 1000rpm or 1200rpm... the clutch spring (small) 5pcs also need too be the same size as the main torque spring 1000rpm or 1200rpm both must equal same size

Changing out the rollers and other modifications don't really do much. Yamaha has spent tens of thousands of dollars to get the most out of their engines, some dudes in Taiwan aren't going to invent something in their garage that will be a huge breakthrough in performance . Scooterswapshop did a dyno test on consecutive supposed modifications on their adv 150 and found no improvement. In fact, after all they did, they were getting less horsepower out of the bike and they couldn't find a way to bypass the speed/rev limiter.

I dont think having the tcs on has anything to do with top speed. Thats just a failsafe in case the tires start skidding. I would try another test at 60 degrees and check tire pressure before you go on the road always. Also maybe the first test you were catching a draft from other vehicles like they do in nascar to preserve gas and slingshot around other cars. The pavement temperature affects nascar speeds. I guarentee the road you were on was hot that day to possibly keep it from achieving 90. Just some food 🌭🍕🍔 for thought scooterman dan.
