Apologies for all the sniffling, temps were about -15c in the morning and up to -6c by the afternoon. Sorry for the lower audio on this one. This trip was GoPro heavy footage and as you may know GoPros don't have great audio. Thanks for watching!
There is nothing like the serenity when you stand still and listen to the silence out there. It centers the soul and you take it back with you to every day life. It produces a smile while others just don't get it. Memories and pictures to look back on for years to come. Great video and close up of Grizz.
BEAUTIFUL VIDEO COLORS SCENERY VIEWS LOOKED LIKE A LOT OF FUN ! GRIZZ LOOKED LIKE HE WAS HAVING A BLAST ! BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! GOD BLESS YOU ALL ALWAYS ! ENJOYED !
Another great video! I just want to say that seeing how enthusiastic and happy you are to be out there is really uplifting to see. Coming home after a bad day at work to one of your videos is good medicine for the soul. And Grizz certainly gets some good smiles out of me as well. Thanks for brightening my day! Take care!
Outstanding video... grew up in Buffalo, have so many fond memories of camping in Algonquin Provincial Park ! Also have fished Lake Nippising, camped in Temagami and once married and had our girls we took annual trips to Pinery Provincial Park. Canada has some spectacular camping. Everyone so concious of the environment
Alexis: What beautiful scenery. I haven't been in weather and scenery like that for a lot of years. You are a smart one. No snow shoes for you. Watching the scenery made it 10 deg's cooler here in my Florida living room. Grizz is amazing. You are amazing. Great SMILE. Makes everyone else smile. Keep it up.
This was so great, thank you for taking us along on a gorgeous day. Grizz is gaining confidence and maturity every time i see him, good going on his training. He is an efficient eater not necessarily pretty but i must admit to laughing as i remember feeding my Natasha that way, thanks for that memory. My people are up on the Grand Mesa at 10,500' today snowshoeing around Mesa lake for 1.5 to 3 miles depending on how they feel. Currently they have a 164" or over 13.5 feet of snow base with 6 feet so far this month. I am not jealous because i got to see you, Grizz and friends in a beautiful place. Peace.
Always inspiring! I've been watching your channel now for the last few months and I am always looking forward to your next video! I go to Algonquin at least (I wish it was more) once a year to canoe and backpack for a week in the fall but now I really want to do a winter camping experience. That place is so magical and serene looking in your video.
My apologies for thinking you were in Algonquin Park. You simply had your lunch at its border. At any rate, great video. Glad to see you are enjoying our country's natural wonders in all of its seasons :)
So that's what the sun looks like. It's beautiful! Looks like a blast. Greater Vancouver is endless rain. Almost have the ark finished. A paddling video is appropriate for our area. Cheers
Hello Alexis, thank you for sharing this beautifully filmed outdoor adventure. The scenery was truly spectacular. All the best of good things to you, Ryan and the Griz. See you on the next one. 🤗
I loved your day trip with Algonquin Outfitters. The dog Moose riding in the sled was adorable. Really cute was Griz. Eating a pepper and bacon. Beautiful place. You always make me feel like I got to go along. Thank you.❤
I really enjoyed this video and I always love seeing people enjoying our Crown lands. As it happens, Nate and I enjoyed a day on those Altai skis on Crown land the week before last. Those Altai Hok skis are such a great cross between snowshoes and back-country skis because one can travel faster (and so go farther) than on snowshoes, but they also permit one to negotiate through the woods with much greater ease than if one were wearing cross-country or back-country skis. I'm thinking about investing in a pair for my wife and I as we do a lot of winter hiking on Crown land. Great message and advice at the end of the video, by the way. Cheers, - Martin
Hey Martin, thanks for dropping by! Yeah I saw your adventure with Nate on instagram, looked so awesome! Absolutely loved the Hoks, I told Nate I never want to snowshoe again, haha! My hubby and I are trying very hard to move more north, as right now we live in Southern On and winters/snow are basically non existent. So if we manage to move more north where there is real winter, I think we will definitely invest in a pair! Would love to explore with you guys sometime in the future!
@@careenaalexis I hope you and your husband are able to make that move north before long. My wife and I moved from southwestern Ontario to the Muskoka region and have loved what it has to offer, especially Crown lands to explore and camp on without end. Drop me a line if you're ever in my neck of the woods. Cheers, - Martin
PineMartyn Thank you! We are doing everything we can to try to make it happen! Crown land is such an amazing privilege! Thanks so much, we will drop a line for sure! In the mean time, Happy exploring!
Love seeing the wilderness on the other side of the country! Just beautiful scenery there. Nothing better than bacon on a fire! Haha Griz is a perfect boy, sitting nicely for some food.
I love watching your videos the skiing looks so fun ,my wife and I just bought new boots for our skis this year and hardly have any snow so far here in New York .Im so jealous watching you I’m part French Canadian sometimes I wished I lived north of the border.
Beautiful. I’ll be up there later this month. You must have driven by my cottage driveway on #60. I’m just east of Ragged Falls Park; a couple of minutes from the park boundary.
@@careenaalexis I have a Saint Bernard who would be full of piss and vinegar for the first mile, then need a sled human. At 150#, I don't take him on long and challenging expeditions.for that reason. He would be great at camp though, because he can really heat up a tent. I totally get it. Good for Nate! My dog is such a logistical challenge...
@@mountainman971 Indeed it does. This might be a good way for my guy to work his way closer to my fitness level. Walk a while, ride a while... I can't carry him, but I CAN drag him on a sled.
I've done a fair amount of back country skiing. I did years ago and the skis are different. Mine are narrower but still a more larger shovel head that typical cross-country skis so that the skis rise to the top of the snow when pushing forward and not digging into it. First skier breaking trail was always toughest job that we took turns at. Developing a technique to do a sliding step, more like cross-country skier, takes a few trips but allows you to cover more ground in a short amount of time. Tele-mark down hill turning also takes practice versus the step turning. It look like fun.
Great video, fantastic scenery, our problem is if we ever get more than 2" of snow in the UK, the nation grinds to a standstill. Love to see your vids especially the snow scenes, and Grizz is a star too. Thank you for letting us come along.
Thanks for sharing Alexis. Awesome Canadians have that Crown land for recreational activities. In USA we’d probably get a ticket for being out in winter. 😂. Around my general area we’ve had a constant freeze/thaw, current lots of mud, no ice on lakes. Today was almost 60 F, nice for Feb., but can’t really do anything outside unless you’re on hard pavement. That vid looked like fun. Btw you have a beautiful smile. 😉👍
Great video. Man I wish we would get some snow. This is crazy---suppose to be 60 degree's here on the front range of Northern Colorado today. Oh---that would be Fahrenheit.😎 I don't speak Celsius. 😁 Have fun! Be safe! Roger

Great video as usual. Seeing Griz begging reminded me of Astro from the Jetsons cartoon. What do you think of the skishoes? Hoks. I bought a pair this winter and have mixed feelings. They don't do any one thing great. OK snowshoes, OK skis. I'm tempted to remove some of the hair on the bottom or try to find a way to make them glide better. Funny story. I was going threw thick brush with a heavy backpack and rifle on my back. I fell backwards. I was like a human turtle stuck on my back! I couldn't get up. My skis were stuck in the brush and I was in deep snow so I couldn't push myself up. Having a walking stick and going Viking berserk saved me, lol.
Hahaha honestly I loved them. I think they’re a great all around snow beast! Definitely cover a lot more ground than snowshoes. But I think like everything they have their place. I think for all the cold and thaw winters we get now they are the perfect solution.
Great video Careena. I could hear the silence of the snow covered forest from here. That quiet magic the snow does to the forest always amazes me. Do I spy a silky saw being put to the test?
Great day trip. Thanks for taking us along. What are your thoughts on the skis? I’m leaving rainy Vancouver for three weeks of winter camping, snow shoeing, skiing and Nordic skating mid February. I’ll be in the Huntsville area and will definitely check them out. Care to share your route?
