A New Adventure in Algonquin - XC Skiing, Sleeping Under the Stars & Celebrating 10 Years Together!

- This trip was a new adventure for us in Algonquin Park! It was our first time using our cross-country skis with loaded backpacks to do an overnight adventure in Algonquin. We enjoyed the sunny spring weather and slept under the clear starry sky. We loved it and had a blast celebrating our 10 year anniversary together!

Paige did not have to admit the spills, but good to her for full on honesty! Not ideal snow conditions but those spring blue skies must have made up for it. Hats off to Algonquin or the 'Friends of' for building that sweet warming cabin. Looking forward to watching some paddling, keep adventuring! p.s. Happy 10th, you are a great couple and obviously soul mates.
I think if she had her poles extended longer she could have saved herself from some of those falls! The backpack will through ya a little off balance though. Kept things interesting. We are excited to do this again next year on the Leaf Lake trail system, it has a few warming cabins as well. Yes, we are planning some spring canoe trips, can't wait to get on the water! What a perfect way to celebrate! looks like amazing spring skiing, I've wondered about wearing a heavy pack with camping gear on skis; it seems like you had ideal spring snow conditions to slow you down if you picked up too much speed on some of those hills! thanks for sharing your adventure, can't wait for snow!!
The big pack does make you top heavy and it would have been sketchy in icy conditions. I'm looking forward to winter too and more xc skiing adventures. Thanks for watching!

We have been to AP dozens of times winter and summer but never knew about X-country skiing. Will have to try it out. Thanks
Ya, xc skiing is definitely underrated in Algonquin. There are 2 really great trail networks, Fen Lake at the West Gate and Leaf Lake on the east side of the park. Would definitely recommend checking them out! Thanks for watching 🙂
I keep forgetting if it's the 9th or the 10th of March for us, and my wife does not find it the least bit humorous.
Is that cabin wired for electricity?
I'm surprised at how busy the place gets in the winter.
It's funny how important dates can be hard to remember lol. I believe the cabin was wired but no lights were installed yet when we were there. The xc ski trails can get busy on the weekends. Thanks for checking out my videos!

Hey Alan! It was a fun way to celebrate for sure. No, the program we did together was the Outdoor Adventure program at Algonquin College in Pembroke. Kevin Callan is involved in the Outdoor program at Fleming College in Lindsay I believe- which Paige also did graduate from the year before she went to Algonquin and we met. She thinks she remembers having some lectures with Kevin. Both are great programs! Thank you for always showing up to my videos, I really appreciate your support!
