There is no advantage I can see to putting octave after dirt. Octave pedals need the cleanest sound possible in order to track, and once you put the dirt before that, the octaver will glitch out, which is usually not very musical. I'm usually all about experimentation with different pedal orders, but in this case, I can't think of any instance where there would be a particular advantage to distortion before octave for me.
Well, the Line 6 M9 is technically a multi-effect (that big unit I have in the upper left), but it's purpose is a lot different than the multi-effects you listed. It depends on what you're going for. If you just want a generic swiss army knife for effects, the Boss GT10B fits the bill nicely with decent quality effects. For me, I have a very specific sound and signal chain in mind that no multi-effect could come close to replicating.
Wow, I really need to get myself a Boss OC-2... I've just realised that they add a touch of distortion too (or at least alter the shape of the waveform), which is severely lacking when I use a Digitech Whammy on dry+-1oct. Really lacks that aggressive edge I need for Uprising and Starlight by Muse.
Nice vid, splendid rig, great demo. This has given me some food for thought - thank you for explaining about the Octaver and the Line Splitter as well, many of us would just buy the effects and wonder where all our low end had gone! More videos, please!
I thought I was having fun with my newly acquired, but now deleted, Line 6 Bass Pod XT Pro. Hated the bean shaped thing a few years back, but like this. But now, I'm listening to your set-up and it REALLY sounds like fun. Thanks for the share.
Hi Adam! You talk a lot about keeping a straight wrist. On what axis should your wrist be straight? Do you have any other tips for proper bass posture? Thanks, Confused Guitarist.
for the clean octave on the bass synth wah, you need to put it on setting 7, then the sensetivity and range all the way down, and then you control nob is like a blend control :)
what do you mean by "dirt"? and I bought an oc-2 yesterday 98%because of how well you speak of it. You are my musical hero please don't ever give up on what you do. You've helped/taught/motivated/inspired me so much in the last six months. I owe you way more props than I am capable of giving in English words. Thank you, Adam.
Nice set up and video ! , do you use 1 or 2 amps? If i get the Line Selector i would want to have a straight Bass to Line Selector to amp, and then use the other line for the Effects , that' possible?
A-dam Neeeeeee-lys Bass Pe-daaaaals! :D The intro music would work pretty well on this one too :D just kidding, love your channel bro, awesome work! Keep it up! :)
i love your stuff adam. i watch and listen for hours, learning a lot along the way. I feel after watching this clip though that you think that effects and options are more important than the music you play on your bass guitar. trying to mimic a synth can only end in tears. just find a synth player no? is there any room in live music for a guy/girl with a tuner, a treble booster, an amp and a guitar anymore?
those pedals tend to like smaller signals, its got to do with the circuitry of em :D if you put something before it to lower your guitar volume it may work better
Adam you gotta do this video again. For obvious reasons
Yes, those damn toes !
No just the shitty quallity of camera and sound
You're not that good at understanding jokes, are you ?
Also I'm sure some things have changed in 6 years
i really want those toes... unnngh
Could you make an updated video about this? I bet your setting has changed in the past four years
that'd be awesome if it was still the same though hahaha
would be amazing!!!
I love how he points with his toes
It's just a tremolo, set to 16th notes. I have it set as a hard square wave. It's a great little effect for electronic stuttery sounds.

You should be putting some shoes on.

Update the video please
Great vid, Adam!
Adam you gotta do this video again!
Would love to see another video if your board has been upgraded or changed since so long ago. Much love.
Thanks!

Sooo much fun to watch
@havic5 I totally understand. At the end of the day it comes down to personal taste. Thanks for the speedy reply, you are an incredible musician.

I know I'm not the first to say it, but the world misses Adam's hair.
It's back, don't worry
This pedal board bussin 😩😩😤
"this one's my cat growl, it sounds like a cat growling"
Dude! Love that wobble sound!
Absolutely wonderful ! I love it.

as in your hand should be lined up with your forearm
Why was this recommended to me?
Good thing it's not November...
yooo updated version please!!

You need to shut the he ll up.

by dirt I think he means something in the overdrive/distortion/fuzz family
That sound at 7:25 is fucking awesome
THAT WAS AWESOME.
why am I here 8 years late
Do you recommend Multi Effects like the Boss Gt10b or the Bass Pod XT or even the Behringer Bass V-Amp Pro.
Very sick! Kudos to you!
man got them dogs out tho
Hey Adam, 8 years later what do you think of this rig? Any suggestion on a bass compressor that wont break the bank?
Not Adam, but the TC Electronic Spectracomp is awesome and super versatile and can be found for like $70 on reverb.
Sick board man!!

can you explain your chain order while goin threw the LS-2. Like when the channel change between A & B and bypass
we need an update on your pedals
A-dam Neeeeeee-lys Bass Pe-daaaaals! :D
The intro music would work pretty well on this one too :D just kidding, love your channel bro, awesome work! Keep it up! :)
wow this is much better than a Dj controller .. lol
Updated pedalboard 2023? 😊
holy shit, this is usefull!
69k. Nice.
how about modulation before dirt?
bad ass!!!
bass pedals *WRAAAY*

You should redo this
do you remember the filter settings you use at 4:23 (Bank 1)?
My oc-2 tracks like shit on guitar. I don't understand how you make it work on bass.
Depends on the guitar, I had a $5000 bass that it tracked like shit on but the simple $800 pbass worked like a charm.
I don´t know about how it work in the guitar world, but it tracks better in passive basses, hope that helps.

try running a compressor before guitar. atm on my board it goes compressor -> octave -> fuzz -> lpf
NO NO NONO NO NO THERE'S NO LIMIIIIT
the dogs out??? for freeeeee???
what do you think about putting octave after distortion?
Too modest. This is quite clever.
mmmhm patas
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey Adam, try this out for a fuzz pedal!m.th-cam.com/video/IIUL8VET2kI/w-d-xo.html
It uses a tiny tesla coil to make the fuzz.
a lot of the effects seem to rattle
maybe due to the crappy amp he had or the clipping distortion in the recording
why do you have really nice looking feet??
Your cat growl sounds more like a fart
...welcome to the unpopular kids section
those sounds make me want to vomit.
don't use them if you don't like them.
Wow! Great Pedal board!
