Hi all, a question for anyone that stumbles across this. Could you do me a favour by letting me know which state or country your based in or just your time zone and what time you're most likely to watch my videos? Just working out if I could find a better upload time to suit you all!
Scotland here 🏴🏴 any time suits, I usually catch up with TH-cam recomendations on the weekends, so as long as we're getting notifications, should be good 👍
Benjamin Tod train-hopped around the country busking, playing shows, traveling from Tennessee to Colorado to see his girlfriend...yes, I'm sure his songs are from "life". His friend/bandmate Nicholas committed suicide in 2013, ever since that happened his songwriting style really changed. He doesn't write to write a good song, he just writes about life.
This man was strung out for YEARS and years hoping trains and living a really rough life. His wife helped him alot through his addiction. He went to busking in the streets and pulled himself out of all of it and hes a damm good singer
@@matthewlucas4142 I saw them live a couple weeks ago as well. In Chattanooga TN. That was my second time seeing Benjamin. I also saw him in Birmingham Al
Great reaction as always. This dude is so unique. If you go to the comments under his song videos you’ll see how many lives he has saved and helped. He’s well needed in the dark side of life.
I can imagine brother! The ability to give people hope is so rare. To be able to do that through music is a beautiful thing. He'll definitely be back on the channel again soon.
Brad here from South Carolina, USA. Benjamin Tod is an obscure but amazing artist. His song "Sorry for the Things" is another amazingly deep song. Definitely check out more of his music and Lost Dog Street Band! Good to see music like this has made it across the pond!
Dude I've been clean from heroin for 5 years and I still go back to this song. I've listened to a lot of music in my life and this song is the closest thing I've ever heard that I feel like I could have written every single word. Amazing song
Just stumbled upon your channel and I have to say I really love how you take the time to humbly analyze the artists and their songs plus give a legit heartfelt opinion like you just did with Ben. Shows a lot of respect and appreciation unlike most TH-camrs out there. Thank you!
You could literally do any Benjamin Tod or Lost Dog song. They are all so good and well written. I consider Ben among the best song writers out there right now. His songs are simply amazing.
'Sorry for the Things' by Benjamin Tod is a good follow up for this song, the Gems on VHS version. He somewhat addresses what you were talking about and the questions you had toward the end of your video.
Really glad you decided to give Ben a listen. Lost dog street band "him and his wife" have so many great soul searching songs. "War inside of me" "someday" "down in georgia". You could do a series much like you're doing for Childers.
War Inside of Me still brings me to tears a year later and is my absolute favorite and maybe you would like a more upbeat song but I'm with Danny on this one. All the songs he listed are great.
Damn! Over 4k views! I actually came and became a subscriber because some one posted in the Lost Dog Street Band Fan page on Facebook that you were about to do this. I know its been shared a lot as far as I could tell. Keep it up man!

This the hard raw truth of the opioid epidemic across America particularly in Appalachia. The family cycle and trap of addiction is insidious and pervasive. I worked 30 years in a substance abuse clinic in CA and saw people suffering. There is help out there. Your loved and there are those who care.
I never listened to country music before, ever!! But I recently found Sierra Ferrell, closely followed by Nick Shoulders then Lost Dog Street Band and Pokey Lafarge ....can't get enough of this now! 🏴🏴
Sounds like you're on this journey brother! The beauty of TH-cam is how it connects us with all of these independent artists that don't get the radio plays. Hopefully you can use my channel to find some other artists you connect with!
Benjamin started off in punk rock in his younger years. He actually lived the tramps life, hopping trains and stuff. The tattoo on his throat 11030 is the hobo sign. If you didn't know, crossbar on the 11 and vertical on the 3.
im in Canada GMT -6 (I think??) love Ben Todd this song hits home to my younger days and the battle I faced … been off the pills and blow almost 10 years and dont miss it at all... still get the odd.... tingle for it but.. they are a lot easier to ignore and fight off no days... all the power to any one who see this that is fighting your battle... repeat over and over... What I've always appreciated about Ben's music whether solo or with his band with his wife is the honesty and self exposure of his lyrics. He says things that many of us and especially men who really don't Express ourselves let alone publicly ,been can relate to what he says and feels. In this song I respect Ben's honesty and how he says I hope you are deceived by the webs that I spin/ I wish I wish I was who I appear.... Wow powerful! My take is that Ben is saying he puts up this front to who really is (deceived by the webs ) and that he wishes he could really be like that front he pretends to be which is why he depise the man in the mirror. Just powerful and honest lyrics. Need to do reaction to Lost Dog Street Band 'the war inside. Great work keep it going!
I'm not a huge fan of country, but some of the indie stuff is really great. It's definitely the common man's music. I think it has a lot of DNA from the folk music brought over by the Scottish, and Irish.

Disclaimer at end is good and agree whole heartedly but currently feel I need to hurt to get to the other side, but as you said need to know when to draw the line instead of digging deeper
Hey man I really appreciate your take on the last verse. As a Christian, and I know Ben is not, those words are hard to hear. Always loved the song though. But just so you know, Ben has been through a lot but they are largely sober now. He's struggles with the needle and the bottle but I think they just casually drink now. Saw them in March and they trully are amazing. I would really like it if you reacted to his band's music though. Lost Dog Street Band has many nice live performances as the one you reacted to in this video. Much love coming from Oklahoma (central time zone).
It's the bitterness that comes from grief "you can send me to hell with the rest of me friends" RIP to my friends... I'm not in that space today but man I understand the sentiment.

He wrote this song after his best friend died of a heroin overdose
You should listen to Zach Bryan. He’s a great up and coming country artist. You really can’t go wrong with any of his songs, but a few that I would suggest are Heading South, Godspeed, Me and Mine, and Flying or Crying
Zach is very good. I love the way he records. Load up on Modelo, get a couple of friends together, record an album one evening. His song Condemned was used on Yellowstone.

Benjamin Tod isn't "country"! though a few of his/their(L.D.S.B.) songs are slightly similar to the specific country genre, he/they mainly play Appalachian Folk music
Hey do u think maybe you could do one of my songs?
