I was in Paris in early December and paid this restaurant a visit. Not cheap but you know that when you go there. Food was excellent. And as you said, the service was likewise..and so friendly. Love your channel. Also went to Cafe du Commerce on your recommendation. Another gem. Best wishes from Dublin.
Happy New Year! You do amazing videos! We have been in Paris, once but we have so many new choices from you that we can't wait to come to Paris again! You are a very suitable couple with this woman
Food is great and worth it. Traditional escargot is the best. The waiters seem overstretched at times. They are not being rude just super busy. . I live in the immediate area and go there several times a year when it’s not a busy tourist season.
I am happy to hear you had good time & food there, I visited first in 1991 and still remember it fondly. Like you said: a bit pricey but great service and very, very good food...
Happy New Year Alain. To you and yours. Hope this new year is a wonderful one for you. Thanks for another great video, filled with great information and honesty. Keep up the amazing work.
Alain, you are right L'Escargot Montorgueil is a surprisingly good place, cozy and charming, this is maybe be my sons favorite restaurant in Paris! We always get the 36 pieces escargot sampler that my son loves, I prefer the onion soup, it comes in a puff pastry like top. The boeuf Rossini is amazing and the duck legs are better than average for Paris. Normally not much room for desert but the coffee gourmand if I have the room. It is touristy, with all the drawbacks of that, but I bet we still eat here at least once this year...
Thanks Matthew! The onion soup of the Escargot Montorgueil was created to resemble to the "Soup with black truffles VGE" of the very famous chef Paul Bocuse, created for a banquet organized by President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing at the Élysée Palace, in honor of Bocuse's admission to the rank of knight of the Legion of Honor. When serving the soup covered with its puff pastry, Paul Bocuse had said to his host: "Monsieur le président, on va casser la croûte."
When I was in Paris last January, I really wanted to go to this restaurant specifically for the Tournedos Rossini (you never see that dish on menus anymore!) but hesitated due to it being in a touristy area. Next time!
When will foreigners - even more Americans - stop erecting Paris as the paramount Totem of culinary practice ? When ? Please rent a car, take a train , and visit the towns of “ Province “ ( like Parisians call them with contemptuous disdain ) to enjoy : 1. Real French people 2. Real Cuisine 3. Not obscene prices
Not all Parisians are snobs, and though I agree that there are thousands of great places to visit in France, if you have only a few days, then Paris is the place to visit before the rest. And It's a "provincial" who came to live in Paris who's telling you this
Bonjour and merci for another video recommendation. For the past ten years I have been hesitant to try this restaurant in part based on the multitude of instagrammers posting exterior photos. Now I must try after enjoying other restaurants in your videos. Merci encore. 💙🤍❤️
My husband, daughters & I visited in 2022 & were seated in the alcove overlooking the first floor. We all enjoyed our lunch. Thanks for the memory
My pleasure!

Glad I found this channel.

@@paristoptips A great story of chef Bocuse had not heard before, Merci.

Hope you'll like it. At least you know I liked their version of the Tournedos Rossini.
Thanks
I always thought that was a big tourists trap
There sure are a lot of tourists there, so if it's a tourist's trap, at least it's a qualitative tourist's trap 😁
All of Paris is a tourist trap now. Especially because of social media. We locals have nowhere to go anymore 😫

Plenty of good places
The Michelin guide is a good way for visitors and I guess locals use it as well
My last time there in 2020
Un sens certain de l'exagération 😁
@ mais noooon. C’est trés reel 👀

Sometimes, places are so heavily displayed on Social media that you're just unconsciously thinking it can't be good.
Yet, here, it is genuinely good!
