#upcycledbylittletoh ♥️ Taking old forgotten items and giving them a new life ♥️ Thrift Responsibly
We are right at the end of the 2024 Lunar New Year celebration and it's become a little bit of a tradition for me to make myself a Lunar New Year outfit. So in this video, I show you how I turned my grandma's vintage cheongsam (she owned this in her 20s and she's 90 now!) and a thrifted Ikea curtain into a modern cheongsam inspired two piece matching set. It was SO hard to cut up the original cheongsam because it is so sentimental to me and I was so afraid I was going to mess up but I think this outfit turned out so great and I cannot wait to show my grandma!

That outfit is so beautiful, you have wonderful sewing skills, what a talent!!! ❤❤Judy❤❤
I’ve always thought that old clothes, and traditional garments should be left in their original form for their vintage or cultural beauty. I’ve realized that as these clothes are passed down, they may not be used in their original forms, and that’s okay, because the beauty and memories of the original being used at all, instead of being kept in a closet or storage place, is wonderful in it of itself.
Obsessed! 💕
Granma will love it as we do. It's beautiful ❤
I hope so! Thank you so much! 💗

This is so cute
Thank you very much! 💗
Very pretty and bright. You did a beautiful job. The original dress was so lovely and special. It took courage to make it your own.
Thank you so much! That first cut was definitely nerve wrecking, but I'm glad I did it! ♥️
Great job! If it was me, because I’m so uncreative. I would’ve just kept it for sentimental value or I would just lose weight to fit into it. lol
Wow u r so amazing 😍❤❤❤❤❤....
Thank you so much 😀
Your my inspiration of doing thrift flip ang i made many diy clothes because of you thank you ❤❤❤
Wow I love that so much and that makes me so happy! ♥️
Needs a matching small purse & headband!
I was thinking that too! I'm still deciding on what style of purse! 🥰
This is beautiful but I do wish you had made a top and skirt. So it was a stronger traditional nod to the original memorable piece
I actually flip flopped between a skirt and pants for a long time! But I have a few other pieces my grandma gave me so I will definitely look into making something a little more traditional next time! Thank you! 🥰
I tried her medical exam paper tip because I’m using parchment paper from Walmart (it has no lines, which some parchment paper done, so I only use that for baking, not patterns), and I often have to tape it together and even with packing tape, it often doesn’t stick. So I bought some medical exam paper off Amazon, and it was so soft, almost felt like fabric itself. 😂 So I couldn’t write on it and sent it back. But hers looks like my parchment paper in terms of stiffness, not like what I got. Anyone know what that is called or what search terms to use to make sure you get the stiffer paper and not the soft stuff that crumbles like tissue paper under a pencil?
ETA: the final product was beautiful and a great way to honor her mammaw.
Thank you so much! If you go to the description of this video, I've linked the medical paper that I use! I've quite liked it and its also durable enough for me to erase pencil marks carefully! 🥰
