    This fabric is a traditional French Toile de Jouy. It is generally used in curtains, upholstery, and sometimes wallpaper, but it has shown up in some American fashion dresses as well. Your outfit is very cute, and I love your mom's shorts as well.

    To fit the back try rotating your dart into the side seam first, then draw your cut out. You had the right idea but your cut out was too wide for the way you used to work. You closed the dart as you should, but then cut past it eliminating all the shaping you put in.

    Your videos never disappoint! 👍✨🏆👏
    PS: The cure for gaping in the back was to cut your arch a little tighter than you think you need it. Then cut the button closure flaps on an angle and the sides of the back panels as well. Basically, working with a smaller back panel than front panel pushes your darts into the side seams and into the neck.

    Oh, I love the open back! Thank you for the inspo!!!!! I combined it with the mood top pattern you hacked in your bendita set video! The way to fix the back so you don’t need elastic or a dart is to shorten it! I have to do sway back adjustments on pretty much everything which means the side seams are longer than the center back. I took off about 1/2-3/4 inch for this one-hope this helps!

    Your mom looked so pretty in her outfit and I loved how she subtly matched you! I love watching you thrift things, curtains are a favorite of mine to use because of all the patterns and variety of materials used. I've been hoarding some for a special Christmas carolers outfit but I might have to stash bust some I've been saving for a rainy day now! This outfit was so cute, feeling really inspired now!

    Next time take your dart measurement off the bottom and so it would essentially be hidden in the hem of the waistband

    2:31 Noooooo😂😂😂 that is too cool❤❤ But I guess the fabric is stunning and it deserves the special attention !
    Just out of curiosity about the pants;
    -why do you think it didn’t fit even when you used your own pattern?🤔
    -why did you choose to put the zipper on the back? If it’s just your preference, totally understand, but I wondered if it interferes with the pocket or not.
    Looks great on you, as always😊

    • @littletoh
      @littletoh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! 💗 I think the reason this one ended up way too tight is because this fabric has absolutely no give or stretch! I also tried my best to be precise when tracing out the pattern but human error is real 😜 For the zipper, i decided on to place it on the back because since I used french seams for the pockets and side seams, I was nervous that it would be a bit too bulky on the sides with the zipper there!

    • @bqpdobqpd
      @bqpdobqpd ปีที่แล้ว

      @@littletoh thank you for the explanation! Yeah, tracing is never easy! And noted about the zipper as well; I’ve had that problem with the skirts I’ve made (and even with store bought ones)so when I doubt, back zipper might be the way to go!

    Hey, you've mentioned in one of your videos that you are self-taught in sewing. But you seem to have really deep knowledge. Do you have any tips on how to learn it? Did you attend some classes or follow some online courses? Or did all detailed knowledge come just from practice?
