    Late to this video, WISH I WASNT! Damn, I’ve never seen anyone frame that lead pelvis moving “faster” than your lead leg/knee, I’ve tried everything from trail leg focus, that “lead knee move” everyone loves to pitch, bumping, etc, I couldn’t consistently get those hips open like I wanted/knew I was capable of. Just worked 2 range sessions with that Lead Pelvis concept + Heel to Target trigger, Milo no bullshit- finally saw the swing I’ve been trying to build for 2 years, saw flashes of, but this was the move for me that every swing woods to wedges was repeated. Thank you! Sincerely.

    Ok, I've had a couple of days to work on this and I find this is the whole key to getting all your other transition stuff to work. I loved the idea of how you explain transition but just couldn't execute it, despite weeks of trying. Wasn't bracing against lead leg at all, despite trying to move lead knee round etc. This one lead heel move idea has - literally - made it all fall into place. Brilliant, thanks again for posting Milo!

    Milo,
    Thanks for your videos.
    I have found this move works for me if I am aware I have to initially drive my lead knee left, and then around further left, almost in a small arc. My force or weight gets on my left foot instantly when I do this.
    Simultaneously, I restrict the leftward movement of my left shoulder, it feels for just an instant, and the swing seems to sequence its self from there.

    Idea for future video. Like to hear your thoughts on the muscle groups or feelings powering the downswing; is it a pull from the left side, left lats and abs? Or something else? I'm sure most of the over the toppers feel most from the dominant right side.

  • @dennis1119
    @dennis1119 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is a very tricky move to get the pelvis moving faster than the left knee! And that causes hip to go internal and left foot to move toward target. You can do many more vids on things surrounding this move. You did one in Dec 2019 on moving the upper and lower centers where the move left is caused by the upper center moving forward of the lower center when weight is transferred. Would this upper center move relate to the the inward rotation in the left hip? Great vid!

    Hey Milo! Is that move designed to keep you from spinning out? I feel like I rotate well but get ahead of the clubhead leaving the face open. After watching this I think my knee and toe turn more out instead of heel getting towards the target. Haven't heard this concept before but makes sense.

    if you replant the heel earlier in the downswing while the shoulder still winding which you should then your heel should go toward the target.

  • @normankleinberg5525
    @normankleinberg5525 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm pretty good at dancing but suck at golf. Regardless, it almost seems like on the backswing the trail hip moves a bit closer to the target than it was at address then, in the transition, that new position of the trail hip establishes itself as the "starting point" of the downswing rotation (i.e. the trail hip NEVER moves back). That's how the body gets into a position slightly forward of where it started. Just my view.

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A little movement off the ball can be a good thing, but typically re-centering and having the trail hip move back towards the target is a recipe for better low point control.

    For older golfers, this is a setup for hip injury. Rapidly opening the hips against an internally-rotated hip will hurt unless the foot spins open. It may mean less power but your golf years will be many!

      John Hue many people have told me that but to be honest I hadn’t heard of him until I was told our philosophies overlap. My ideas on how to swing a club mainly come from Ted Williams and other great hitters from baseball.

  • @jdstubbs9971
    @jdstubbs9971 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    If the foot spins out like in the incorrect example, does that tend to push pressure back to the trail foot or make it more difficult to get pressure forward?

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JD Stubbs it makes it hard to get pressure forward.

  • @HolyGrailOfGolf
    @HolyGrailOfGolf 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    There's a reason for this! We need this action in order to leverage our upper body against that lead hip. Just like a baseball batter or pitcher, until they plant that front foot and leverage against it, they can't actually start the delivery of the bat or throw. The swing or throw actually begins it's forward motion once that front foot starts to deliver its backward force. It also dictates where the release point in the golf swing is.
    If you don't leverage against the lead leg/hip your swing has no actual direction or release point and you end up trying to push the club quickly toward nowhere.
    The more I think about this the more I think it may be the most important aspect of imparting power into the golf swing. Without leverage against the front foot true power is impossible.

    • @HolyGrailOfGolf
      @HolyGrailOfGolf 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made a video about this but at the time I didn't realize just how important leveraging against the front hip was. At the time I thought it was axiomatic but since then I've watched people and realize they're not doing it. Maybe you'll think it's interesting ... th-cam.com/video/BF4P7RL3eM0/w-d-xo.html

    • @HolyGrailOfGolf
      @HolyGrailOfGolf 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find it interesting that people confuse winding up with the actual act of swinging forward. When you look closely at the actual act of swinging forward and how and when that begins it's very different from what people think.

    • @MiloLinesGolf

      The leg extends or loses flex as we clear through the shot and extend into finish. Doesn't necessarily straighten or lock out for everyone though. Milo, the more I've watched your stuff the more it seems the golf swing is like... 70% upper body and the arms are left to kind of just do their thing (to shallow, fall in the slot, etc). That is assuming your backswing is in competent positions (no hip slide, etc). Would you agree with that assessment?

      @@MiloLinesGolf Milo - can you make a video about right side bend? Is it important or not? Only with driver or all clubs? I tried implementing it recently and I was hitting the ball better than ever on the course (for ONE day). Then more recently I went to the range to mimic my on-course results and I was coming over the top and hitting TERRIBLY. Maybe you can make a video specifically describing the "feelings" of what your body is doing (in your mind) when you swing? That would help a lot. You are my favorite instructor to watch now. Thanks!
