Glad to see an instructional pointing out match ups from the get go. Key detail I’ve learned; not all tips on YT are relevant to my swing! Great job Milo
Great video I love how you explain the different matchups based on your swing planes. My age is 66 I have some mobility issues look forward to exploring best option in person in Feb -Mar
A great drill to get that 'down and around feel' is to first hit some 50 yard chip shots syncing up the arms and body. Then address the ball and move the club up so that you're gripping it at the bottom of the grip and the sole of the club is hovering about 3-4 inches above the ball. Now start the backswing in that position and hit the same chip shot. You've gotta get down to that ball, and you'll start to feel the correct pressure. It's worked wonders for me after a club pro suggested it.
I think you solved a mystery for me. I convinced myself I had to cover the ball with my chest for a long time because I can rip a driver that way and hit a powerful draw (for an old dog). But with my short irons and wedges it hasn’t worked. I just now tried letting my chest open with the hips and I’m getting that low left exit with my wedges and not hitting behind the ball - sweet!
Hogan likened the golf swing to starting like TED WILLIAMS and implementing progressively shallower paths...as I've seen you demonstrate. Note as well he had very LONG arms. Note as well NICKLAUS had very SHORT arms. Both you gents are not coherent as to your storylines on anatomy affecting geometry, which you'd probably agree. I draw HOGAN'S swing sequences all day in a journal and have determined that the recipe for optimal use of the linkage system is more subtle, varied, and nuanced than most think. Such delicacy of thought isn't convenient for public consumption but it's personally fulfilling. I get a lot from your work. Thank you.
Hello Milo, love all your content! When I am doing this move my launch monitor shows my path out to in sometimes as much as 9 out to in path. Also getting some shanks and tops. Any insight as to what I could possibly be doing wrong? thanks!
Hi ummmm love this conversation, when you showed Hunter swinging he actually stopped rotating on the follow through, hence the very low follow through Milo. Mr Hogan kept his rotation on the follow through, hence he finished alot higher than Hunter. This is all about opinions as to what is easier to do,i feel in my opinion its far far easier to return back to the ball with an Hogan type swing, alot less manipulation, Moe, lee, Hogan, knudson. does give food for thought. Milo great content sir..........
Excellent input. Who rotates their head , into impact, earlier than Milo ? Ball position......I have found having the ball too far back in my stance makes me stand up earlier. Ball off the forward heel promotes staying in the shot. IMO. It is almost as if Milo is pushing with his lead leg, back and bracing, before he drives his trail leg. The leg action is key and most difficult. When achieved, so much takes care of itself. More on this please.
As an early extender I am used to seeing my arms and clubhead exit my neck. Half speed (driver carry 200 vs 250), hold spine angle longer and I can get it to exit my left shoulder. That's my goal right now. Very difficult to build that to top speed. Keep working everyone.
Without looking at your swing it’s difficult to say, but I would first look at the pitch of the shaft in the downswing. Try to get the shaft near 90* to your spine.
@@bug0811you can try to be a “right side dominant” golfer (like Rory). Focus on keeping your right hip moving forward low and deep, rather than up and out/hump. Remember to move it forward vs out for the weight shift and don’t worry about posting on yourleft leg.
Milo - have you ever used 'Swing Catalyst' dual force plates ? It would be nice to see if you are categorised as a 'Front Foot' or 'Reverse Foot' golfer. The 'Reverse Foot' golfer has a CP weight pressure that shifts from the lead foot to the trail foot, from around P6 - P7.
I have spent many hours working with Dr Scott Lynn and I’m a lead post player however my pressure like most big hitters maxes out under the lead foot at p5 and by p7 my lead foot is weightless.
I'm a little late but....That's interesting about your pressure shift. It's what I see with my eyes, esp with big hitters but literally zero coaches talk about that. Reminds me of old tennis instruction--teachers still taught that step into the ball move while all the hitters had open stances hitting the heaviest balls off the back foot. Have you videos talking more about that pressure shift and unloading the lead side?
Ball flight (fade vs draw, low vs high) is controlled by the hands and how they are releasing through impact. Don't think about keeping the club low left think keep the hands low left. Being that the golf swing is rotational in nature and not linear, the hands will appear to be going low left. This simply means that the hands, arm, and body are synced in rotation. The "feeling" is to have the hands exit low and left.
im a hack but in my experience i find it easier to draw when i stand the shaft up in the backswing and when i want to cut taking a flatter backswing helps me cut.
Milo , How do YOU determine the right swing plane for a student and where you feel is the best spot for their hands at the top? What is the process you go through to determine it?
Brilliant and actionable analysis as always: I'm a too-steep follow-through guy, so the left exit work helps correct that. I do think you should edit out that bit near the end where you mention your "hand's job." Too much filth on the internet already.
Just fast forward to the 7:00 mark. The rest is an utter waste of tme you'll never get back. Baisically, to exit left properly, make sure your chest is roating left and low.
I have recently started to get the body driven feel and action from the slot to the pizza slice post impact position (Cogorno) and I think.it us indeed the major difference between pros and ams. But where is the speed coming from in that move and swing? I also can't make GRFs work much, as I am lanky and have very long arms.
Good video but I think it’s missing an important aspect - the timing of the arm extension / follow through. You’ll see Hogan extending through the ball vs at the ball, thus creating the natural body rotation. This is a timing thing and quite hard to master
When done correctly, the trail arm extends more as a byproduct of centripetal force, rather than manually extending it. That way the extension is timed for you.

Thanks for watching!
This info is so profound that 90% of the so called Pros out there would have no idea.
Priceless info.
Thank You.
Grateful Aussie.

Is this a refutation of the “Milaska” release??? 🤔

It’s so difficult to do it at full speed! It also gives me hip pain to really post on that lead hip. I wish I never had the issue of early extension 😭

@@brandonosten-p7r kkkk I’ll try to use that swing thought! Thanks for the help, pretty embarrassing to have hip pain at 24 haha
What exit would you recommend someone who is 6'3'' with long arms? I would love to get more inside but struggling with it in my practice.
Definitely depends. Matt Kuchar fits that description as do others that do the opposite
Pinning the shaft to the strike like Hogan did.
Around the bend

How do yo hit a draw with this action? Is this why most good players prefer a fade?
Ball flight (fade vs draw, low vs high) is controlled by the hands and how they are releasing through impact.

Interesting
Milo do you actually look at the ball at impact or has your head rotated to target?
I don't recall ever really seeing the ball.
Milo , How do YOU determine the right swing plane for a student and where you feel is the best spot for their hands at the top? What is the process you go through to determine it?
I generally start by teaching them an athletic pivot motion, and allow their natural athleticism to dictate arm plane to a certain extent.
Brilliant and actionable analysis as always: I'm a too-steep follow-through guy, so the left exit work helps correct that. I do think you should edit out that bit near the end where you mention your "hand's job." Too much filth on the internet already.
Mike Adams has the matchup for every swing , confirmed by swing catalyst

how about snead and hovland dont they go from high to low left? not sure im buying this symmetry theory
The club is trailing them coming down so it follows the arc more or less, it's not pulling across left.
Cam Smith is the best example of this
I like his action!
Hunter Mahan = Looks like a fade exit.....but he was a straight to slight draw player. RE: On the Mark episode.
I have recently started to get the body driven feel and action from the slot to the pizza slice post impact position (Cogorno) and I think.it us indeed the major difference between pros and ams.

I crush the ball going low left.
Nice

@@MiloLinesGolf yes good point 👍🏽
How to sit and shift at the same time ,It’s not easy
A great topic for a video, will add to our list. 👍
If You watch the swing of jack, he literally starts the downswing with his arms. lol
He definitely doesn't
Yes, yes he does.
