I would have preferred the PS2 version, especially since Sony started putting more PS2 games on PSPlus
That's fair
Or get the xbox 360 version on latest xbox
I prefer Lego Star Wars 1 and 2 on ps2 bc I don’t have the game on Xbox and In my area it’s more expensive for the Xbox version. And yes I do play on Xbox as well.
@@PaulOniel534it’s more expensive tho.
Ive seen these lego games go on sale for 5$ on xbox
Dude, if they port Lego Star Wars III the clone wars my life will be good again
That will likely happen but we’ll get the PSP version
@tdoran616 I would take the psp version lego star wars 3 the clone wars is one of my favourite lego games of all time
That was on PS3, so probably not anytime soon. Unless they do the vastly different PSP version. lol
to me, unfortunately, this is not the "definitive version", for one specific reason:
no co-op.
local co-op was such an integral part of these games, so i would have preferred the ps2 version, even without the three extra missions.
That's fair!
I really hope this means soon we can get ports for all the old lego games that you can’t buy on ps5 right now like lego Batman 2 and lego pirates of the Caribbean and stuff
Those games are on PS3, so unlikely at this time. PS3 is very difficult to emulate on modern consoles.
They need to remaster the complete saga
Sony has trouble emulating PS3 games, so that may be a little tricky!
@@QuickBrickGames sounds like a skill issue
I'm really hoping we will be getting all the old lego games added to ps5
That would be great!
I actually just finished playing this a few days ago. I played it on the PC back in '06 and this looks so much better. Great nostalgia
Nice! I actually played it on PC in '06 too! Haha
That game is almost 18 years old!
True!
And still a banger
I love the psp version but they should put the ps2 version instead because of the two player mode i dont understand why they they port this one instead of the ps2 version
Yeah I agree that is a major omission.
Sony’s PSP emulator is significantly better than their PS2 one and works with a lot more games.
@ethanshackleton but how you can play 2 players on ps5 with the psp version?
@@christhophercruzfloresyou can't
@@nomad6169 really? :(
I came right to your channel as I found out the psp version got ported rather than the other consoles version and I knew you’d make a video on it
Thanks so much for the support! You know the channel!
If you think about it the PSP version is pretty much a very early prototype for The Complete Saga
Yeah sorta!
I remember buying the PSP version of this game at a GameStop in downtown Evanston which no longer exists.
What happened to downtown Evanston??
@@QuickBrickGamesThe GameStop in Downtown Evanston closed on March 17, 2013.
I first got into Lego games when my dad showed me this version of Lego Star Wars and his old psp and it will be fun to play it again on a bigger screen
Awesome!
I bought this on my PS5 today, played this game a lot on PS2 as a kid. I do like how its the PSP version which has the first lego star wars games final levels and the challenge mode. If they could update the game with the better textures from the PC/PS2 version, make it so NPCs can spawn in the cantina, and fix that weird blank spot in options where multiplayer would be on the actual PSP version, this would be perfect. also I have a weird line going down my screen while playing it and no idea whats causing it but it doesn't affect me much
Glad that you're enjoying the game. Not sure about the weird line tho, sorry!
Tbh I found this port kinda weird. If you put the psp version on ppsspp emulator, it kinda looks the same as it does on PS5 so they didnt actually touch the resolution, and why port the psp version instead of the ps2 version? if it was about the characters then mod the ps2 version so it acts like the psp one instead, not port a really low resolution game into a ps4 or a ps5 which not even the special WLAN option works. I don't know, I found this really weird in my opinion. And yes, save states at any point is cheating 😂
lol
@@linterniGamer Agree they should have ported the PS2 version, or honestly just port the Complete Saga
Just to clarify, when they refer to "resolution" they're talking about the amount of pixels on the screen, so both ppsspp and the PS5s official emulator render the game in native HD resolutions. If they talk about "high resolution textures" that's the amount of pixels in a texture, which I think is what you were thinking of. So yeah with that clarification you're right, with how blurry the textures are they are definitely not upscaled lol
I know that on xbox series x and s it’s already available “the complete saga” version and “the force awakens” with 120 fps, the thing that i hate it’s that the ps5, on ps4 games have the same performance, but on xbox series you have remastered quality with 120fps on xbox 360 games 🤧
Microsoft cares more about backwards compatibility.
I'm hoping they port more PSP games and even PS Vita games to the PS5. I've really wanted to play the handheld LittleBigPlanet titles.
That would be cool!
no trophies is crazy id rather play ts on my ps2
Except for the lack of Bounty Hunter Missions, this is a much better experience than the PS2 version. Also PS2 doesn't have trophies either. lol
@@QuickBrickGames I agree, the prequel trilogy characters you can unlock are very cool
@@cowdashoenuts you can get all the prequel characters in the ps2 version with extra toggle lmao
I think this is great. Al though, not too sure how long this will be good considering there are rumors planning to get select PS3 games compatible on PS5. Like with almost anything legacy Star Wars games expect Lego Complete Saga, III Clone Wars and HD Force Unleashed 1 and 2 natively on PS5. Hope they go beyond that and add Lego Indy 1 and 2, Lego Batman 1 and 2 and Lego Lord of the Rings since those lack a proper port on the PS5.
Other PS3 games that we might expect is whatever non-Lego WB Games allowed, maybe Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy (Unless Square Enix plans to remaster/ports those themselves), legacy Disney games, some legacy THQ and Capcom games, Koei Tecmo and Namco maybe and especially Sony's IPs. Personally I would love to see Sonic games, but I doubt it since Generations is getting remastered this fall. If anything, maybe Unleashed.
Yeah hopefully many more are coming!
@@QuickBrickGames Just tried out Lego Star Wars II and really enjoying the game yet again. Also got a chance to play Sly 1 and had a blast with it. Definitely purchasing those to keep along with the available Pixar games as of now (Up, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Toy Story 2 and 3) since I'm a massive Pixar fan. What would I do to get the original Incredibles game by THQ and Heavy Iron? Seriously, that game has some of the most satisfying punching sounds and visuals effects.
Now that you mention it this could be a good opportunity to make the PlayStation 2 version of Sonic Unleashed available to players who never experienced that version of the game as it is completely different to the HD versions.
I don't know why they took the PSP version of the game rather than the PS2 version.
Might have been easier for them to do, not sure.
@@QuickBrickGames nah it's the good ol' money incentive. they could've emulated the ps2 version instead (ideally with upscaled textures) which would've meant a working multiplayer and higher quality assets and textures to work with. but why put in the effort when you already have an "in-house" psp emulator where you can just chuck in the old psp rom and call it a day?
and it's most definitely not a technical question seeing as you can emulate almost all ps2 games on a somewhat decent smartphone nowadays, in fact it highlights how lazy and greedy Disney / Lego / Sony are acting because we've had good ps2 emulators on pc for years now and both the ps4 and ps5 are essentially regular x86 computers with proprietary software that dumbs them down into a box that can do nothing more than play games.
the company that handles the emulation was probably already working with the psp version before they finished the ps2 emulator. plus i think its more advantageous to port the psp version because its easier to access the prequel characters unlike in the ps2 version where it has to recognize save data from the first game to unlock them.
@@SlickSloth Lmao you Star Wars fans have such a victim complex. You blame Disney for practically everything even when it doesn't make sense. Yes they own the Star Wars franchise, but they're not responsible for every single thing that happens. I doubt bringing an obscure PSP port of an obscure PS2 Lego game to the PS5 was the first thing on their agenda.
@@wanderingshadow1372 I blame Disney because the new "port" is published by Disney Interactive Studios, I blame Sony because they most likely had a say in what is being "ported" and I blame Lego for signing off on that and for generally becoming more and more greedy as a company overall.
feel free to keep dickriding Lego, Sony and Disney, but all three of those companies have only one concern, and that is money.
they don't care about you as a fan, they don't care about their product being of high quality, the only thing they care about is the money from your wallet making its way to theirs.
also, care to elaborate how I got a victim complex when all I did was highlight how lazy and greedy this whole thing is?
This honestly is great , i just need the first game now and my journey to nostalgia will be complete
Yes! The 1st game is a bit tough to play on modern hardware. We need some sort of official port or remaster for sure!
has anyone else noticed the game is rated T for Teen on the PlayStation store for some reason? Lol
Yes. It's very odd. It should be E10+. I think someone at Sony messed up. lol
This is known as a good case of games with incorrect age ratings. In fact, the DS version of Bionicle Heroes is the only LEGO game to date to be properly rated T, while the other versions were rated E.
I just ordered Lego Star Wars 1 and 2 for the GameCube! I already had The Complete Saga (which is easily the superior and complete version), but I’m thinking of selling my Xbox. Besides, playing the first 2 games is a slightly different experience in a few ways
Awesome! Love the OGs!
The PSP version has Challenge Mode which would only be used once more in Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. The co-op mode in the PSP version is terrible where you can’t have a second player drop in at any time and if you lose connection at any point, you get booted back to the main menu which I learned from another video. A PSP version of Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga wasn’t made, due to the developers not having ample resources to make it, but I’m pretty sure that it would’ve been watered down from the console/PC versions. I hate how in the PSP version, there are no other characters beside the two player characters wandering the hub so that the game would not have much lag. The last time played it via emulation, I used music from the 2002 Spider-Man game to get an idea of what it’d be like use different music for a video game while avoiding copyright claims. It bothers me in the PSP version that the d-pad is used for player movement instead of moving the camera. The Wii versions of The Complete Saga and Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures would have the same issue with the d-pad on the Wii Remote before the first Lego Batman game fixed that onward so that you’d use the d-pad to move the camera instead, but it feels stiff when compared to using an analog stick. I’d suffer autism playing the first two Lego Star Wars games and think too much that I’m playing The Complete Saga. The only videos I’d ever make for the console/PC versions of the first two Lego Star Wars would be where I compare them to The Complete Saga. The whole point why I’ve always avoided MarioDragon and I’d only save his videos and/or merge them with another if I wanted to watch them is because it’s pretty baffling to think that he has videos of the first two Lego Star Wars games, but not The Complete Saga. Imagine having that experience as a child and you felt dejected and you really wished he had videos of The Complete Saga. The prequel trilogy levels in the PSP version of Lego Star Wars II are the same as the first game and not like what they’d be like in The Complete Saga one year later. I really wish Zam Wesell had been in the first Lego Star Wars game so that she would’ve been playable in the second game which became one of my biggest complaints of the first game after discovering her in The Complete Saga. The Lego Star Wars games with the Disney logo are The Force Awakens & The Skywalker Saga since both games were released after Disney purchased Lucasfilm. Because of that, Lego Pirates of the Caribbean was the first Lego game from TT to be based on a Disney brand.
They need to port lego batman 1 next
It could happen!
@@Persona_.Jaidon Yes
@@Persona_.Jaidon and also lego Batman 2
They should make a Lego Star Wars Classic Collection where just like the BFCC it has Lego Star Wars 1 and 2 in the same package released on all platforms for the XBOX ONE/Series X/S, the PS4/5, Nintendo Switch and PC. They should also rerelease Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga on PS4/5,PC, and on Nintendo Switch. But hopefully unlike the BFCC it isn't full of bugs and they can even add online play and make it work better

The Xbox 360 version has always had trophies (achievements) since it released in 2006. This new PS5 version is a port of the PSP version, which never had trophies. This version has some different levels compared to the Xbox 360 version too, so it would require some work to implement trophies.
