I remember when I was a young lad, I saw an ad for Lego Star Wars III on TV and begged my mother to get it. All we had was an OG Xbox and it was an expensive new release, so my mom got me Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy from Blockbuster while I was in school. I was too young to really discern the difference, and I’m so glad lol. Helped me get into Lego and Star Wars from a young age.
Besides the vehicle levels, this is an insanely impressive follow-up to the original. I don’t think anyone was even considering a full character creator at just the second game TT made. The levels are much longer, which I can admit I do slightly prefer the bite-sized levels of the first game, but overall this game gives WAY more content. The 1,000,000 studs level is probably the best they have ever made and the Use Old Save extra is so cool! Really a shame they couldn’t get it to work on 360. Great video, keep up the good work! ❤
I know this comment is a bit late, but I finally decided to watch this! There's a few things about this game that I find to be really fun that weren't exactly mentioned in this video, but no worries! 1. In the "Through the Jundland Wastes" level, the moisture vaporators that cause the tanks to fill up with water and the quicksand or mud pits to dry up are only able to be activated by C-3PO, which references the scene in A New Hope where 3PO mentions to Uncle Owen that he can speak the language of the moisture vaporators called Bocce! 2. Some characters in the game can pull the levers, but cannot wear disguises, such as Princess Leia in her Bespin outfit. If you pull the lever as these characters, they'll move outta the way of the dispenser! 3. Something else that's frustrating about the Death Star Escape level is that when you're trying to get to Stormtrooper panels with the Stormtrooper disguise, you'll quickly lose the disguise if you get shot once, which is very easy to do in that level. I agree that that section is very frustrating. 4. The "Use Old Save" Extra is not limited to prequel characters, but you can also use Minikits that you've built in the first game in the Minikit Bonus levels! 5. There was actually a cutscene in the "Jabba's Palace" level that was supposed to happen when you first find Luke in the level, but it was taken out for some reason. You can actually view this in "Story Clips". It's the first Jabba's Palace midtro cutscene. 6. I love how the image of the Death Star II in the "Into the Death Star" level is literally a PNG of the original Death Star Lego set that was released around the same time as this game. Sadly, the PNG isn't present in The Complete Saga. 7. Super random, but the "Extra Toggle" extra actually gives you the Clone character from the prequel game if you play in free play in "The Battle of Endor" with the extra turned on. 8. Building all the minikits in this game unlocks the Slave I ship that Boba Fett owns. I remember as a kid I wondered what that extra slot in the vehicle roster was, and I was super excited when I finally unlocked it. This was a great video, and I'm super excited to go check out the Complete Saga retrospective!
I remember coming home from school and my grandma had this game waiting for me, I was 5 or 6 and had just gotten into Star Wars so my mind was blown. I put countless hours into playing this game but I never 100% it. Despite that though I still loved this game bought all the characters, there was just one bounty mission I could never beat. I love this game and the first one so much! Looking forward to TCS retrospective, good work👍🏾
As much as I enjoy the Lego City level in this game, I agree that it’s very frustrating to have to destroy every single thing in the level, and I like that in future Lego games, they make it so in levels like this, there are 1,000,000+ studs to find, so there are multiple ways to finish those levels without getting stumped on what you missed. Also, the Use Old Save extra not only works on characters from the first game, but you can even play as the minikit builds from the previous game in minikit vehicle levels, which I thought was awesome! One other thing is there are cheat codes to unlock extra disguises for the characters, and can allow you to make a custom Santa character to play as! Great video, and I’m looking forward to more of these! :)
This was just as amazing as I thought it would be, highly detailed and tinged with nostalgia (makes me want to jump straight back into the game again). You should definitely be proud of this series, it's shaping up to be the definitive history of TT's LEGO games (as long as you remember to cover Bionicle Heroes 😉), excellent work buddy!
@@QuickBrickGames That's awesome, the game is as different to the mainline games as LEGO Rock Band (more of a 3rd person shooter), but it's still a very important game in TT's history. Plus it has gold and silver canister collectables which are similar to minikits, it's another game with a lack of good guides on TH-cam. Hope you have fun with it!
12:38 Interesting fact is that section with the one Stormtrooper running away leading to a bunch is probably based around that special edition change with Han charging at a squad of Stormtroopers, only for him to run in a hangar FULL of them. Honestly a funny and good reference.
